1. Introduction
All praises is due to Allah. We praise Him, ask him and seek his
forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from evils of ourselves and mischief of our deeds.
Whomsoever Allah guide, cannot be misguided. Peace and blessings be upon the Final
Messenger Muhammad, on his family and his noble companions. Amin.
It were already more than 1400 years we were left by the Prophet
Muhammad and Alhamdulillah up to this moment we are still able to feel the blessings
of Faith and Islam which is by the unstoppable sustained effort and perseverance in
carrying out tasks that have been passed by the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon
him.)
The friends, Tabi‟en and scholars alternates to the task, as the successor
of the Prophet. They are active in the work and never gave up at the end of the fight.
With this spirit of Islam come to our country and up to this day, Muslims are the fifth of
the world‟s population. Although from time to time Muslims are always in trouble and
having all kind of tests, but by the grace and mercy of Almighty God. Muslims still exists
and still has religious values and life, even though we acknowledge here and there.
Al-Quran and Hadith is the legacy that left by the Prophet Muhammad to
his people. They will not get lost and disappear from the surface of the earth as long as
they still adhere both of the position. Al-Quran and Hadith will not lose grip and the
source of all strength are even complete and clear explanation as to the identity of
Islam. To those people who worship Al-Quran and Hadith will be rewarded by God
according to their beliefs and deeds. Those who die while believing that “there is no true
god but God, and Muhammad is the Messenger (Prophet) of God” and are Muslim will
be rewarded on the day and will be admitted to Paradise forever, as God has said:
“And those who believe and do good deeds, they are dwellers of Paradise, they dwell
therein forever.”
Al-Baqarah, 2:82

2. In fact, all the problems faced by Muslims over the centuries, all over the
past, now and future has been explained by the Prophet Muhammad and there is no
one is left. They are described and explained about the ways to solve them. In this
case, including the problems faced by the Muslims in the last days. In which over 1400
years ago, was described by the Prophet (Peace be upon him) to be guided to his
people so that they can take care of themselves, be alert and remain in the pure
doctrines and avoid all the damage and danger of straying.
Now we beliefs that in Doomsday is one of the fundamentals and pillars of
faith. It is the day when everyone is to get recompense and punishment for one‟s work
and has to go to heaven or hell according to one‟s deeds. This is the reason each and
every Prophet warned his people of the day of judgement.
However certain events are going to take place prior to the coming of the
final hour. These events are known as the Signs of Qiyamah (the end of the world). All
the Prophets informed their people of the signs of the final hour. Our Prophet
Muhammad being the last and the seal Prophets, knowing that Doomsday is to come
upon this very ummah, explained clearly and in considerable detail the signs of the final
hour to the extent that sometimes Rasulullah SAW would lecture his companions all day
on this subjects.
Abu Zaid (R.A) says:
‘The Holy Prophet (Please Be Upon Him) sat down on the pulpit after Fajr
prayer and began a deliver a long sermon until the time for Zuhor prayer came. After
saying the Zuhor prayer the Prophet Muhammad again sat on the pulpit and began
sermon, which continued until Asar prayer. After the Asar prayer the Prophet
Muhammad resumed the sermon so much so that the sun set. The Prophet Muhammad
related whatever happened in the past and also related in detail whatever is to happen
in the future. Those amongst us who had good memories retained many things.’

3. Discussion
The major signs before the day of the Judgement
At here, the signs of the final hour can be divided into two groups. Firstly
are the minor signs. This are events that happened of normal nature prophesied by our
Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) to take place before Qiyamah like the
consumption of alcohol, lifting of knowledge and prevalence of ignorance and
immortality and signs of this nature. The majority of the minor signs have appeared
while some are occurring and some will appear with major signs.
Secondly are the major signs which are the events occurred of extraordinary nature
prophesied by our Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) to take place before
Qiyamah like all the events mentioned in the following Hadith narrated by Hudaifa Ibn
Usayd that the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) said:
“The last hour will not arrive till you have seen ten signs. The Prophet
Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) then mentioned the smoke, Dajjal, Beast, Rising of
the sun from the place of its setting, the Descent of Isa, Ya‟juj Ma‟juj, three landslides
one in the East, one in the West and one in the Arabian Peninsula after that a Fire
would spread from Yaman and drive the people to their place of gathering.”

Other than that, Hudaifah Ibn Usayd said: “The Prophet (S) stood up one
day to speak to us, and told us everything that was going to happen until the Hour, and
left nothing unsaid. Some of the listeners learnt it by heart, and some forgot it; these
friends of mine learnt it. I do not remember it completely, but sometimes it springs to
mind, just as one might remember and recognize the face of a man whom one had
forgotten, when one sees him.

4. a)The sign of Imam Mahdi
The greater signs of the hour will be arrive someday, where the mankind
will have reached a stage suffering. Then awaited Mahdi will appears; he is the first of
the greater and clear, signs of the Hour. There will be no doubt about his existence, but
this will only be clear to the knowledgeable people. The Mahdi will rule until the False
Messiah ( al-Masikh al-Dajjal) appears, who will spread oppression and corruption. The
only ones who will know him well and avoid his evil be those who have great knowledge
and Iman (faith). The false Messiah will remain for a while, destroying mankind
completely, and the earth will witness the greatest Fitnah (tribulation) in its history. Then
the Messiah Jesus (AS) will descend, bringing justice from heaven. He will kill the
Dajjal, and there will be years of safety and security.
b)Gog and Magog
Then the appearance of Ya’juj and Ma’juj (Gog and Magog) will take
mankind by surprise and corruption will overtake them again. In answer to Jesus „faithful
prayer to Allah SWT, they will do and safety, security, justice and stability will return.
This state of affairs will continue for some years, until the death of Jesus (AS).
Allah says in the Quran: “Then he ( Dhul Quamain) followed another route.
Until when he reached between two mountains he found on the hither side of the two
(mountains) a people who could scarcely understand a word. They said: “Oh Dhul
Quanain! Verily Gog and Magog cause mischief in the land. Should we collect for thee
the resources, so that thou shalt raise between us and them a barrier? He said: The
power in which my Lord has established me is better (than your proposed resources).
So you help me only with the strength (man-power); I will make between you and them
a barrier. Bring you unto me blocks of iron; until when it filled the space between the
mountain sides, he said: „ply your bellows‟ until he made it red-hot (like) fire and said
“bring unto me molten brass which I may pour over it.”
So the (Gog and Magog) could not scale it nor could they make a hole in
it. He said, “This is a mercy from my Lord. But when the promise of my Lord

5. (resurrection) comes to pass, He will level it with ground and the promise of my Lord is
true.” And We will let them that day to dash into one another. And the trumpet will be
blown then We gather them all together”
(Quran, 18:92-99)
“Until are let loose the Gog and Magog and they shall hasten forth from every elevation”
(Al-Anbiya, 21:96)
c)The Anti-Christ (Dajjal)
The next major sign before the day of the judgement is the appearance of
the Anti-Christ (Dajjal). It means one who conceals the truth with falsehood, a falsifier,
one who deceives, deludes, beguiles, circumvents, is very deceitful or a great deceiver.
The word also means “To smear the whole body of camel with tar”. Thus, according to
this meaning Dajjal would mean a great falsifier who would cover the whole earth with
conceit and delusion and infidelity or with his beguiled adherents as tar covers the body.
According to another version, he would be called Dajjal because he will travel most of
the regions of the earth. There is a good deal of difference of opinion about the
personality of Dajjal and this has raised much academic discussion about it. It is
however, certain that at the approach of the end of the world, a great falsifier would
raise and he would, by his vicious tricks and devices, lead people astray from the path
of righteousness.
The Prophet (may peace be upon him) said:
Abu Qatada reported: We used to go to „Imran bin Husain passing in front of Hisham bin
Amar‟. He, one day, said: You pass by me (in order) to go to (see) some people but no
one remains in the company of Allah‟s Messenger (may peace be upon him) more than
me and no one knew more of his Hadiths than me. I heard Allah‟s Messenger (may
peace be upon him) saying: There would be no creation (creating more trouble) other
than the Anti-Christ from the creation Adam to the Last Hour.

6. (Related by Muslim)
The Antichrist‟s characteristics are mentioned in the many authentic
Hadiths. The Prophet (may peace be upon him) has described the minute details of the
Antichrist so that the Muslims could know him and protect themselves from the
delusion. Firstly, the Antichrist is a blind of right eye as if his eye is like a swollen grape.
And then, the Antichrists has on his forehead the letters K.F.R (Kafir) (infidel) which
every Muslims, whether he is literate or illiterate, would only be able to read, while non-
believers cannot perceive this written message. One of the characteristics of the
Antichrist is he would be very irritable and get extremely angry, and the first thing (by
incitement of which) he would come out before the public would be his anger.
One thing that we should know is the Antichrist will appear at Khorasan for
the East, from Yahwadia town of Asbahan (Shahrstan) and will pass through all over the
earth except Holy Mekkah and Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah where he could enter there
because of the clear prohibition by Allah, and the Angels of Allah will guard these two
cities from being trespassed by the Antichrist.
There are certain instructions, according to the prophet (may peace be
upon him), to be followed strictly to keep the trials of Antichrist away changing our true
belief. One of them is anyone who would survive to see Antichrist should recite over him
the opening verses of Surah al-Kahf. Anyone who learns by heart (memorize) the first
ten verses or at the end of the Surah al-Kahf- both portions are important-will be
protected from the Antichrist Dajjal. It is most highly recommended that, everyone recite
this chapter, particularly every Friday.
d) Jesus Christ (alaihi wassalam)
After that it will be the descension of Jesus Christ (alaihi wassalam)
also known as Nabi Isa. Jesus Christ (may peace be upon him) is a man of medium

7. height reddish fair wearing two light yellow garments, looking as if drops were falling
down from his head though it is not wet.
Abu Huraira reported the Prophet (may peace be upon him) saying: There is no prophet
between me and him; that is, Jesus (may peace be upon him). He will descend (to the
earth). When you see him, recognize him; a man of medium height, reddish fair,
wearing two lights yellow garments, looking as if drops were falling down from his head
through it will not be wet. He will fight for the people for the cause of Islam. He will break
the cross, kill swine, and abolish Jizyah. Allah will perish all religions except Islam. He
will destroy the Antichrist and will live on the earth for forty years and then he will die.
The Muslims will pray over him.
(A sound Hadith related by Abu Daud, Hakim and Ibn Khuzaimah)
Jesus Christ, son of Mary (Mariam) will descend at the white minaret in
the eastern side of Damascus wearing two garments lightly dyed with saffron and
placing his hands on the wings of two Angels. When he lowers his head, the beads of
perspiration will fall from his head, and when he raises it up, beads like pearls will
scatter from it. Every non-believer who smells the odour of himself will die and his
breath will reach as far as he would be able to see.
The descention of Jesus Christ is confirmed by the Holy Quran and
Sunnah.
By the Holy Quran.
Allah the Exalted and Glorious stated:
That they said (in boast), “we killed Jesus Christ the son of Mary, the Messenger of
Allah”; But they killed him not, nor crucified him. Only a likeness of that was shown to
them. And those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge. But
only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:- Nay, Allah raised him up
unto Himself, And Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise.

8. (An-Nisa, 157-158)
In Hadith,
The Prophet of Allah (may Allah‟s peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Jabir bin Abdullah reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (may be peace upon him)
saying: A section of my people will not cease fighting for the truth and will prevail until
not cease fighting for the truth and will prevail until the Day of Resurrection. He said:
Jesus son of Mary (peace be upon him) would then descend their (Muslims‟)
commander would invite him to come and lead them in prayer, but he would say; No,
some amongst you are commanders over some (amongst you). This is the honour from
Allah for this nation.

The events occurring during his stay will take place after the descent of
Jesus Christ. Firstly, the capture Anti Christ and his affliction. Which is we learnt from
preceding information that the Jesus will descend when Muslims are ready to fight with
Anti Christ. Thereupon the prayer will be called and Jesus will participate in
congregational prayer lead by Imam Mahdi Secondly, another event during the Jesus
Christ‟s reappearance would be the appearance of the two great sects of Gog and
Mogog. Their arrival will take place after the killing of the antichrists and his followers.
These two groups would make numerous mischiefs and afflictions of the earth. Jesus
will supplicate Allah to get rid of their afflictions and troubles and thus Allah will eliminate
them completely.
e) The Smoke
The appearance of the smoke is one of the major portents of Last Hour.
This noxious cloud of the smoke will spread all over the world. True believers may feel
from this smoke the sensation of a common cold or catarrh, while it will reach at each
and every nook and corner of unbelievers and hypocrites; resulting in their demise by

9. suffocation and asphyxia. Even the Quran and the Sunnah have confirmed this sign as
a major event.
By the Holy Quran.
Allah and Exalted and Glorious stated in the Holy Quran:
Then watch thou for the Day that the sky will bring forth a kind of smoke (or mist) plainly
visible. Enveloping the people: This will be Chastisement grievous. (They will say:)
“Our Lord! Remove the Chastisement from us, for we do really believe!” How should
they have the Reminder. Seeing that a Messenger explaining things clearly has
(already) come to them,- Yet they turn away from him and say: “tortured (By others), a
man possessed!” we shall indeed remove the Chastisement for a while, (But) truly you
will revert (to your ways). The day We shall seize you with a mighty onslaught: We will
indeed (then) exact Retribution!
(surah ad-Dhukhan, ayat 10-16)
In Hadith said,
The Prophet (may peace be upon him) said:
Abu Huraira reported that Allah‟s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: Hasten in
performing these good deeds (before these) six things (happen): (the appearance) of
the antichrist, the beast of the earth,, the rising of the sun from the west, the general
turmoil (leading to large- scale massacre), and the death of masses and individuals.

f) The rising of the sun from the west
Another greater sign that happened during the doomsday is the rising of
the sun from the West. The natural course of the sun is to rise from the east and to set

10. in the west. The mystery of the course of the sun is a great power of Allah the Exalted
and Glorious which is one of the most great portents of the Last Hour. Allah says in the
Qur'an, "The day when some signs of your Lord will come, no good will it do to a person
to believe then, if he believed not before, nor earned good (by performing deeds of
righteousness) through his faith."
(Surah Al-An'aam)
Narrated by Abu Huraira (R.A), "Allah's Messenger said, 'The hour will not
come until the sun rises from the west; and when the people see it, then whoever will be
living on the surface of the Earth will have faith, and that is (the time) when no good will
it do to a person to believe then, if he believed not before."
(Bukhari).
Ibnu Hajar has mentioned many Al-hadith which prove that the door of
repentance will remain closed till the Day of Judgement and thereafter writes, ''These
narration's give strength to one another, agreeing completely in that when the sun rises
from the west the door of repentance will be closed and will not be opened thereafter.
And this is not specific with that day but will prolong till the Day of Judgement.''

Conclusion
There were more major signs that happened before the day of the
judgement. Such as occultations in three places, demolishing of holy kaabah by an
asyssinian having two small shanks, the coming out of the beast from the earth
and speak unto the people, disappearance of the Holy Quran, revocation of Islam
and deviation of people to the idol-worship and a fire burns forth and emits
driving people to their place of assembly.
Those are all that we should awaken from now on. We might not know
when is the real signs will be spreading. Before it happen, we should more pray so our

11. iman will always in Allah side. Our duty is to be prepared for it at all times. There are
many Quranic verses and authentic Hadiths to explain that the Last Hour is very close
to happening and the appearance of some of the Signs of the Last Hour is a manifest
proof for this very fact. Every minute sees to mankind nearer to their doom, and yet they
are sadly heedless and even actively turn away from the Message that would save
them.
Allah the Exalted and Mighty said:
“Closer and closer to mankind comes their Reckoning: yet they heed not and they turn
away”
(surah al-Anbiya, 1)
One thing we should know that the knowledge of the Final Hour is with Allah alone. The
fact of its coming is certain; the exact time when it will come has not been revealed. If it
were, it would disturb our thoughts and lie.
Heavy are its burden through the heavens and the earth. But at any given moment it
cannot be far distant. We should always be prepared. With the Hour comes judgment
and this is what every human should be thinking about and preparing for, especially as
he or she is reading about these events that shall occur before that momentous
occasion.
