the return of
Jesus Christ is
near:
The rebirth of the nation of Israel
(Ezekiel 37,38)
Jerusalem under Israeli rule but in conflict
(Luke 21:24, Zechariah 12:3)
Worldwide distress of nations (Luke 21:25)
Nations and leaders peaking of peace, but
preparing for war
(Joel 3:9, 1 Thessalonians 5:3)
The rise and dominance of a northern power
(Ezekiel 38)
The wide acceptance of homosexuality
(Luke 17:28-30, Ezekiel 16:48-50)
A completely self centered society (2 Tim
3:1-5)
An increase in violent crime
(Matthew 24:37-39)
Worldwide environmental problems
(Revelation 11:18)
The Bible contains
prophecies (signs) that
tell us what the world
will be like at the time
of Jesus return.
Put together, they paint
a picture of the
conditions of the earth
that will herald his
coming.
7. Rebirth of Israel
Ezekiel 37: 21 – 28 “I will take the Israelites out
of the nations where they have gone. I will gather
them from all around and bring them back into
their own land.”
Establishment of the state of Israel in 1948
Luke 21:24 They will fall by the sword and will be
taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem
will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times
of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
8. Jerusalem in
Conflict
Zechariah 12:2,3 “I am
going to make Jerusalem a
cup that sends all the
surrounding peoples
reeling. Judah will be
besieged as well as
Jerusalem. On that day,
when all the nations of the
earth are gathered against
her, I will make Jerusalem
an immovable rock for all
the nations. All who try to
move it will injure
9. Speaking of Peace but Preparing
for War
1 Thessalonians 5:3
“You know very well
that the day of the
Lord will come like a
thief in the night. While
people are saying,
“Peace and safety,”
destruction will come
on them suddenly, as
labor pains on a
pregnant woman, and
they will not escape.
Joel 3:9 “Proclaim this among the
nations: Prepare for war!”
10. Rise of a Dominant World
Power from the North
Ezekiel 38: 15,16 “You
will come from your
place in the far north,
you and many nations
with you, all of them
riding on horses, a
great horde, a mighty
army. You will advance
against my people
Israel like a cloud that
covers the land. In
days to come, Gog, I
will bring you against
my land.”
11. Acceptance of
Homosexuality
Luke 17:28-30 “It was the same in the days of
Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and
selling, planting and building. But the day Lot left
Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven
and destroyed them all. It will be just like this on
the day the Son of Man is revealed.”
12. Self-centered
society
2 Tim 3:1-5 “There will be terrible
times in the last days. People will be
lovers of themselves, lovers of
money, boastful, proud, abusive,
disobedient to their parents,
ungrateful, unholy, without love,
unforgiving, slanderous, without
self-control, brutal, not lovers of the
good, treacherous, rash, conceited,
lovers of pleasure rather than lovers
of God.”
2 Peter 3:3 “in the last days scoffers
will come, scoffing and following
their own evil desires. They will say,
‘Where is this ‘coming’ he
promised?”
Time of the Judges: “Every man did that which
was right in his own eyes”
13. Increase in Violence
Matthew 24:37-39 “As it was in the
days of Noah, so it will be at the
coming of the Son of Man. For in the
days before the flood, people were
eating and drinking, marrying and
giving in marriage, up to the day Noah
entered the ark; and they knew
nothing about what would happen until
the flood came and took them all
away. That is how it will be at the
coming of the Son of Man.”
2 Timothy 3:1-5 “There will be terrible
times in the last days. People will be
lovers of themselves, lovers of money,
boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient
to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,
without love, unforgiving, slanderous,
without self-control, brutal, not lovers
of the good, treacherous, rash,
conceited, lovers of pleasure rather
than lovers of God.”Genesis 6:11 Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight
and was full of violence.
14. Why is Jesus
Returning?
Jesus will boldly and physically return to the
earth to destroy the wicked kingdoms of men,
establish God’s Kingdom from Jerusalem,
raise the dead, and reward the faithful.
15. To Destroy the Wicked
Kingdoms of Men
Jesus will return “with power and
glory” like the stone of Daniel’s
image (Daniel 2)
Acts 17:31 “For He (God) has
set a day when He will judge the
world with justice by the man he
has appointed.”
2 Thessalonians 1:7-10 “This will
happen when the Lord Jesus is
revealed from heaven in blazing
fire with his powerful angels. He
will punish those who do not
know God and do not obey the
gospel of our Lord Jesus. They
will be punished with everlasting
destruction and shut out from the
presence of the Lord and from
the glory of his might.”
16. To Establish God’s Kingdom
on Earth, with Jesus Christ as
King
When Jesus has overcome
all opposition to His reign, He
will set up a world-wide God-
centered society where all
people will live in peace and
harmony.
Luke 1:32-33 “He will be
great and will be called the
Son of the Most High. The
Lord God will give him the
throne of his father David,
and he will reign over Jacob’s
descendants forever; his
kingdom will never end.”
17. To Raise the Dead and
Reward the Faithful Servants
of God from Throughout the
Ages
2 Tim 4:1 “I charge you therefore before God and the
Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the
dead at His appearing and His kingdom.”
Those who are found faithful will be given immortality
and will assist Jesus in the administration of the
Kingdom of God.
Revelation 22:12 “Look, I am coming soon! My reward
is with me.”
18. The Kingdom of God on
Earth
What will it look like? The physical changes, the political
changes, and the religious transformation.
19. A Great Earthquake
Zechariah 14: 4, 5 “On that
day his feet will stand on
the Mount of Olives, east of
Jerusalem, and the Mount
of Olives will be split in two
from east to west, forming a
great valley, with half of the
mountain moving north and
half moving south.”
To split a mountain in two to
the north and south will
require an enormous
earthquake, no doubt felt
across the whole earth.
20. A Great Earthquake
This earthquake will completely reshape the land of
Israel. The area around Jerusalem will be lifted up until
the ancient Mount Zion (today virtually not a mountain
at all) will become “beautiful in elevation…the joy of all
the earth, Mount Zion, in the far north, the city of the
Great King” (Psalm 48:2,3).
21. Physical Changes in the
Earth
Zechariah 14, a great plain will be created from
Gebah (10km north of Jerusalem) to Rimmon (50km
south of Jerusalem).
Mount Zion will dominate the landscape, around it will
be built a majestic temple of gigantic proportions.
22. Changes, the
earth and
environment
revitalized
Ezekiel 47:8-11 “This water flows
toward the eastern region and
goes down into the Arabah,
where it enters the Dead Sea.
When it empties into the sea, the
salty water there becomes
fresh. Swarms of living creatures
will live wherever the river flows.
There will be large numbers of
fish, because this water flows
there and makes the salt water
fresh; so where the river flows
everything will live. Fishermen will
stand along the shore…Fruit
trees of all kinds will grow on both
banks of the river. Their leaves
will not wither, nor will their fruit
fail. Every month they will bear
fruit, because the water from the
sanctuary flows to them. Their
fruit will serve for food and their
A stream of water from Mount
Zion will flow down to the dead
sea; it will be revitalized, filled with
fish, and along it will become
fishing areas. It will become a
source of life for trees and
growing food, where previously it
was barren.
23. Physical Changes -The Earth
Revitalized
Water in the desert!
Isaiah 35: 1, 6-7 “The desert and the parched
land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and
blossom. Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom;
it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy…Water will
gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the
desert. The burning sand will become a pool, the
thirsty ground bubbling springs. In the haunts
where jackals once lay, grass and reeds and
papyrus will grow.”
24. Changes –
Fertile
Landscape
Amos 9:13 “The days are
coming, declares the Lord,
when the reaper will be
overtaken by the plowman
and the planter by the one
treading grapes. New wine
will drip from the mountains
and flow from all the hills.”
The earth will become
incredibly fruitful and fertile, so
that the reaper will overtake the
ploughman.
Abundance of crops will grow,
even on the tops of the
mountains (Psalm 72:16).
Such an abundance of food
that no-one will live with hunger
or poverty.
25. Changes,
Harmony of
Nature and
mankind.
Isaiah 11: 6-9 “The wolf will live
with the lamb, the leopard will
lie down with the goat, the calf
and the lion and the yearling
together; and a little child will
lead them. The cow will feed
with the bear, their young will
lie down together, and the lion
will eat straw like the ox. The
infant will play near the cobra’s
den, and the young child will
put its hand into the viper’s
nest. They will neither harm
nor destroy on all my holy
mountain, for the earth will be
filled with the knowledge of the
Lord as the waters cover the
sea.”
Isaiah 35:5,6 “Then will the
eyes of the blind be opened
and the ears of the deaf
unstopped. Then will the lame
Peace and harmony will be in
all creation.
The blind will be able to see,
the deaf will be able to hear,
with God’s glory and spirit
abounding human conditions
of mortality will be healed.
26. Political and
Religious
Changes
One World Religion, One World Government, One King: Jesus Christ
“The Lord will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be
one Lord, and his name the only name” (Zechariah 14:9).
27. Political and
Religious
Changes
Temple built at
Jerusalem (Ezekiel
chapters 40-48)
Isaiah 56:7 “for My
house shall be called a
house of prayer for all
nations.”
Jesus Christ will return to the earth to change the religious and political
systems of this world. As the stone in Nebuchadnezzar's dream, He will
strike down the image and break to pieces all the existing Kingdom’s of this
world, and in their place set up God’s Kingdom based on divine principals.
Jerusalem will be established as the centre of a world government and
religion.
People from all the nations around the world will go up to Jerusalem to
worship Jesus as King and God as their creator. They will learn the ways of
God.
28. Micah 4:1-5
In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be
established as the highest of the mountains; it will be
exalted above the hills, and peoples will stream to it. Many
nations will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the
mountain of the Lord, to the temple of the God of Jacob. He
will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.”
The law will go out from Zion, the word of the Lord from
Jerusalem. He will judge between many peoples and will
settle disputes for strong nations far and wide. They will
beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into
pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation,
nor will they train for war anymore. Everyone will sit under
their own vine and under their own fig tree, and no one will
make them afraid, for the Lord Almighty has spoken. All the
nations may walk in the name of their gods, but we will
walk in the name of the Lord our God for ever and ever.”
29. One World Government
Christ will rule as King of all the earth.
Luke 1:32,33 “He will be great and will be called
the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give
him the throne of his father David, and he will
reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his
kingdom will never end.”
All nations will acknowledge His rule; the leaders
of all the nations will come and kneel before Him.
Psalm 72:11 “Yes, all kings shall fall down before
Him; All nations shall serve Him.”
30. One World Government –
Peace on Earth, Goodwill to
All MenWars and international conflict will
cease.
Isaiah 2:2-4 “In the last days the
mountain of the Lord’s temple will
be established as the highest of the
mountains; it will be exalted above
the hills, and all nations will stream
to it. Many peoples will come and
say, ‘Come, let us go up to the
mountain of the Lord, to the temple
of the God of Jacob. He will teach
us his ways, so that we may walk in
his paths.’ The law will go out from
Zion, the word of the Lord from
Jerusalem. He will judge between
the nations and will settle disputes
for many peoples. They will beat
their swords into plowshares and
their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation will not take up sword
against nation, nor will they train for
war anymore.”
31. Review
1. Jesus Christ will return to the earth soon
2. There are many signs in the world today that show
His return is near.
3. Jesus is coming to set us God’s Kingdom on earth;
over which he will be King.
4. Jesus return will initiate great and wonderful
physical changes on the earth.
5. There will be one world religion; all the earth will
learn about God and serve Him.
6. Jesus will establish one world government from
Jerusalem; with peace and prosperity for all.
32. What’s Next?
Studying bible prophecy is very interesting but is
of little use if we are not willing to make changes
in our lives that will make us ready to enter the
Kingdom of God when it comes, and share in the
reign of the Lord Jesus Christ.
33. The Gospel, Two Essential
Parts
The Gospel, the good news, has two essential
parts:
1. Christ died for our sins, to reconcile us to God,
and give us hope of eternal life.
WHAT WERE ARE SAVED FROM, sin and death.
1. God’s culmination of His plan and purpose with
the earth is to establish the Kingdom.
WHAT WE ARE SAVED FOR, the Kingdom of
God.
34. The Kingdom of God, the
Christian Hope
Luke 4:42, But he said to them, “I must preach
the good news of the Kingdom of God to the
other cities also; for I was sent for this purpose.”
Acts 1: 3 “After his suffering, he presented
himself to them and gave many convincing
proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them
over a period of forty days and spoke about the
kingdom of God.”
35. If we believe the Gospel
Once a person has learned the ways of God it is then
essential to be baptized into the Lord Jesus Christ.
Baptism is the full immersion in water of a believing adult.
This action unites a person with Christ, identifying with His
death and resurrection.
If a person believes the Gospel with all their heart they will
see the need to commit their lives after baptism to
becoming more like the Lord Jesus Christ in fellowship with
like-minded believers. A commitment for the long haul,
with eternal purpose.
Remember, to do nothing is a decision in itself.

Bible and have increased your interest in the
Bible, and kindled within you a desire to prepare
for these incredible future events.
Psalm 72:17-19 “His name shall endure forever;
His name shall continue as long as the sun. And
men shall be blessed in Him; all nations shall call
Him blessed. Blessed be the Lord God, the God
of Israel, who only does wondrous things! And
blessed be His name Forever! And let the whole
earth be filled with his glory.”
