Technological advances are affecting the way work is done and how, when and where learning occurs (informal, immediate) Be tech savy or be sorry…. They know what they want….! (gen y) School in Calgary- allows iphones in classes- uses as an educational tool. Social Learning-social netowrking, social media and social learning. Learning does not need to be delivered in a top down fashion- it can be participatory, social, fun, engaging and integrated with work. Learning 1.0- classroom learning Learning 2.0- computer based e-learning Learning 3.0- social learning- incorporates social media, gaming, real-time feedback and simulations Networks: brainstorm ideas, proposal questions, conduct research and extend the debate of the classroom; Most effective: when informal and social learning is utilized in formal learning.

Uncertain economic times: rethink how to grow & be profitable Prolonged labour/skills shortage Continue to look for ways to improve efficiency, productivity & service quality with decreased budgets+ greater focus on innovation, people & creativity to get organizations to the next level. Some companies are taking CSR one step further by embedding leadership devleopment opportunities into the programs.
