LAUNCHING EXTERNAL INSTITUTES AND UTILITIES INTEREST GROUP (EIUIG).
First EIUIG meeting, a group composed of relevant stakeholders from the water sector inside and outside the SUDOE territory. The objective of the group is the creation of new partnerships derived from the different lines of work developed by the TWIST project, as well as the replicability of the innovations achieved in each country on an international scale.

3. GOAL AND FRAMEWORK
EIUIG is a relevant group in the water sector affiliated to TWIST.
Identification of synergies in the framework of training programmes
and exchange of technicians and professionals that favour the
capitalisation of TWIST results, with transfer and application of
knowledge to society.
It will be an instrument to involve entities that may participate in new
partnerships derived from TWIST.
They will contribute to the expansion of innovation.
4. POTENTIAL PARTNER ENTITIES
criteria
1- Entities operating at regional and PALOP level in the areas of water, wastewater, waste and
equipment and solutions that meet the needs of this sector
2- Potential entities for benchmarking and that can act with synergy to reach a better result
3- Entities that can act as validators of the technologies tested in the Living Lab
4- Entities that may be intervening in the identification of opportunities and market entry for
the solutions developed within the TWIST Project
7. EXPECTED RESULTS
Stakeholder consultation.
Living Lab networks for benchmarking and acting with synergy.
Development of a methodology for the co-creation of innovation with
the identification of opportunities for market entry of the solutions
developed under the TWIST Project.
Communication actions.
8. AND AFTER TWIST?
1- What can be of interest and what are the added values for the EIUIG?
2- How to contact the EIUIG in an effective and motivating way?
3- How to "commit" the EIUIG?
4- What collaboration plans for the future post TWIST?

The main elements of the roadmap for the sustainability of living laboratories concern:
• Technological objectives
o Help cement the alliance between partners around common causes and give it a
purpose
• Funding
o ERDF funds, European research programs (H2020, COSME ...) or education (Erasmus)
o Payment for Service (PPS), Cross-Funding (FCR)
o Portugal: Action plan for the circular economy of the Ministry of the Environment and
Energy Transition (MATE)
• Synergies with other regions

Partnerships with other platforms
EIP Water - European Innovation Partnership on Water
Since its foundation in 2013, this platform has supported the creation of an appropriate framework
(funding, regulations), provides information on the challenges of innovation in the water
sector, and defends the interests of its members.
Eight priority themes: Water reuse and recycling, Water and wastewater treatment, including
resource recovery, Link between water and energy, Flood and drought risk
management, Ecosystem services, Governance of water, Decision support and monitoring
systems, Innovation financing
Focuses on the five main bottlenecks to innovation in the water sector: 1. Improving access to
finance and adequate financial instruments, including markets; 2. Establish a regulatory
framework conducive to innovation and overcome regulatory obstacles; 3. Promote public
innovation procurement (by supporting the European initiative to support public innovation
procurement, EAFIP); 4. Promote partnerships and learn from them; 5. Promote testing facilities
and showcase dissemination.
