constantly challenged by the need to apply new electronic
communications technologies to transform there
organisations
• In the 2020’s Digital Business has come of age.

• Options for companies to reach their audience online
• Web 2.0 and Web 3.0
• Business or consumer models of e-commerce transactions
e-commerce defined
• The scope of e-commerce is narrower than digital business
• e-commerce is more than retail purchases from Amazon
• All electronically mediated transactions between an
organisation and a third party this includes non financial
transactions and customer support
• Not only the buying and selling of products but pre-sale
and post-sale activities across the supply chain
Digital business defined
• Digital business is broader in its scope than e-commerce
• It is the transformation of key business processes through
the use of internet technologies
• The key digital business processes are R&D, marketing,
manufacturing, inbound and outbound logistics,
• The buy side e-commerce transactions with suppliers, sell
side e-commerce transactions with customers
Digital Marketing
• E-marketing is closely related to e-commerce
• Digital marketing involves applying technologies which
form online channels to market
• These technologies include web, email, mobile, wireless
• Recent innovations include podcasts and social networks
Web 2.0
• Since 2004 Web 2.0 technology has increased in
prominence.

• Support for participation
• Encourages the creation of user generated content, blogs
• Enables content to be rated
• Allows Ad-funding of neutral websites

machines
• Artificial Intelligence - Websites can filter data and present
the best data possible
• 3D Graphics
• Ubiquitous - The idea of the internet being everywhere
