A disadvantage of many traditional silicones is the proportion of oily
plasticisers which under heat or pressure can migrate into the outer
edges of the stone, leaving ugly, undesirable stains.

10. Natural stone silicone
Migratory staining is a serious consequence of using sealants that are
not suitable for natural stone joints. Inappropriate smoothing and
rinsing agents can also cause stains on natural stone during and
after application.
After preparing the joint and grouting with S 70 the joint should
always be smoothed with undiluted OTTO marble silicone smooth-
ing agent. This reduces the risk of smoothing agent stains to a
minimum. Besides, the smoothing agent was tested at the Fresenius
further advantage over washing up liquids that degrease the skin.
Furthermore, by using OTTO marble silicone smoothing agent the
colour pigments and the lustre of
the sealant surface are kept intact.
