In 2011, the first of 79 million Baby Boomers turned 65.
4 million Boomers will turn 60 each year for the next 18 years.
From IRI research, free to all members…
The number one trait Boomers are looking for in investment is the guarantee of income each month.
7 out of 10 Boomers within five years of retirement are concerned about having adequate income during
retirement.
More than 9 out of 10 Boomers who own insured retirement products believe they are doing a good job
preparing financially for retirement.
Nearly half of Boomers stated that they would put most of their assets in an investment that provides
guaranteed income for life, even if it pays a “low” return.
8 in 10 annuity buyers have incomes less than $100,000 and more than 6 in 10 earn less than
$75,000.
95% of women identify themselves as being financial decision makers in their households.
Only 34% of women are confident they will have enough money to live comfortably throughout
retirement.

The ATP provides a one-stop national portal for financial advisors and producers to view and complete all required annuity suitability courses, including company specific product training courses, and provides confirmation that all resident and non-resident state requirements have been met. The system determines applicable state annuity training requirements for each financial advisor and producer for all states, and then applies the annuities training course completion(s) to these multi-state requirements. Participating carriers and distributors can view an individual's real-time compliance with multiple state regulations, access online reports and receive exports of data on their entire financial advisor/producer population.
In the next six months, the work-stream of the committee will focus on:Straight Through Processing (STP)- Macro assessment of STP- past, present, & future direction. Who has adopted, firms in the pipeline to adopt, and the strategy for the industry going forward.New Initiatives- Create a framework for the industry to help quantify criticality, help prioritize, define parameter for success, estimate cost & execute timely on new initiatives.
