Scentsy also sells bath products, cosmetics, laundry items, and similar
products and they do it all through a network of consultants that sell their
products directly to the consumer. As of 2014, that network of consultants
numbered more than 120,000 people.
In order to manageably engage with all of their consultants around the world,
Scentsy launched the Scentsy Family IdeaShare on IdeaScale. They did this,
because Scentsy consultants are the closest to their customers and Scentsy
hoped that by communicating with their consultants, they would gain a
better understanding of potential new needs and desires, new product
offerings, possible systems and programs that might be successful and would
most meaningfully serve their customers.
In order to promote the Scentsy Family IdeaShare, Scentsy promoted the
community through multiple channels, including
• Consultant news and communications,
• Integrated links throughout the Scentsy system,
• Social media campaigns that promoted successfully completed ideas,
• the annual national convention called the Scentsy Family Reunion
where the top idea contributors were congratulated. It was during this
convention that every completed
idea was announced and that they
closed the community for further
ideas until their next challenge.

3. Although Scentsy only introduced their system to the highest-ranking
consultants as part of their initial roll-out, they now have a vibrant community
that boasts over 9,000 ideas shared to date, with more than 600,000 votes, and
17,000 comments from among 153,000 users. But the company had even more
to celebrate.
• One of the top community ideas, the Mason Jar warmer was created as a
result of an IdeaScale suggestion which ended up becoming the to-selling
warmer in Scentsy history.
• 86 other product ideas that have already been implemented.
• Numerous other products that are in production, some of which include
warmers that promote breast cancer awareness, a teapot warmer, a
specialty raclette warmer, new multipack programs, and much, much
more.
