2. 名稱淵源:
歐普藝術( Op Art )是西方二十世紀興起的藝術思潮;
歐普就是 「 Optical 」的縮寫,即視覺效應。而正式使用
這一名稱是在 1965 年,那時紐約現代美術館舉辦『感應
的眼睛』( The Responsive Eyes )畫展,展覽會上陳
列出大量經過精心設計,按一定規律排列而成的波紋或
幾何形畫面,造成視知覺的運動感和閃爍感,使視神經
在與畫面圖形的接觸中產生眩暈的光效應現象和視覺的
幻覺。
3. 歐普藝術的先驅可以追溯到 1920 年代晚期,當時德國
包浩斯藝術學校 (1919.04 創辦 ) 教師約瑟夫‧亞伯斯(
Josef Albers ),課堂中所談的色彩理論與視覺的實驗
。 1964 年雕塑家喬治‧瑞奇( George Rickey )與現代
美術館的兩位展覽研究員彼得‧塞爾茲( Peter Selz )與
威廉‧塞茲( William Seitz )談話中,首度提出這個名
稱。而亞伯斯這一位現代主義的包浩斯巨擘,也被公認
為是為歐普藝術催生的先驅。
