The smart traveller knows that
travel insurance is essential, as
much as purchasing one may be a
buzzkill. They don’t differ much
across the board, but typically
include the following.
Personal accident protection
Covers accidents, total permanent
disability and death during the
travel period. Most policies don’t
cover accidents when undertaking
certified courses for extreme sports,
but offer specific add-ons instead.
The low down on
travel insurance
Medical coverage
Covers the cost of seeing a doctor
overseas and back home for follow-
ups. Keep your receipts as proof,
and for reimbursements.
Travel inconvenience
Includes cancellation and
postponement of flights, and loss,
delays or damage of luggage and
documents.
