After winning the tender, I facelifted the logotype, created and unified the visual identity, which was unveiled on the company's 30th anniversary on 9 June 2022.
TEDOM a.s. is a Czech engineering company produced CHP (Combined Heat and Power) units with gas combustion engines. They focus primarly on the B2B segment and develop their EU/global network in energy sector.

13. A logo that we prefer to have a signature
function, so that it draws attention. Ideal
for marketing communication.
The logo as a nice addition to the whole.
It does not shout, rather it completes the
atmosphere. Suitable for situations where
it is obvious from the context that it is
TEDOM presentation.
The tinted logo is subordinated to the
aesthetic quality of the whole, it is accented
by the object on which it is placed (e.g.,
watermarks, interior decoration, gifts,
merchandising, etc.).
Use the rectangle box beneath the logo
only in situations where you cannot affect

If the logo and the font are rational, the colour is the
carrier of emotion. The interplay of cold and warm hues
reflects the engineering and service industries. The
choice of colours and their combination can itself be
the subject of creative intent. Nevertheless, keep the
visual communication conservative; the brand should
not appear iridescent or childish.
Blue is the dominant colour, augmented by other cool
shades. We consider yellow, orange and red among
warm shades, both to complete a more varied palette
of complementary colours and to serve as an accent in
visual communication. Green, in it’s warm leafy and
cooler turquoise tones, emphasizes the environmental
aspect of the brand.

The fonts used in logotypes refer only to the company,
brands, locations, departments and products. They
were customised and do not appear in regular commu-
nication. Corporate and marketing communication is
based on the CIVIL font, a backup font for Arial.
The chosen font deliberately does not distract readers
and users with distinctive elements, instead, its main
task is to convey information without unnecessary
exaggerations. The font CIVIL was designed in 2021
by respected Czech typographer Matyáš Machat and
was included in the SuperiorType.com offer.
The Cyrillic typeface Inter is an open source font avail-
able at fonts.google.com. If you need to type in italics,
download and activate variable font file.

communication across all media.
Left-aligned typing is preferred.
Centre-aligned typing is the second
option, especially in combination with
the logo and an appropriate media type
(taglines, claims, descriptions in
signage or stationery etc.)
Copy should be in blue colours or plain
black. Sub-headlines can be in upper-
case, but if you type a main title, turn
off CAPS LOCK.

In English, an electrical network is called “grid”, while
in graphic jargon it is a layout grid, a raster. In a broader
sense, it is a structure, a texture, or pattern. A number
of precisely arranged elements create a visually appeal-
ing contrast to the stretched logotype, which gives the
impression of stability and strength.
The grid is ideologically intertwined with the company’s
values:
SMART — Demonstrated by how effectively we work
with it graphically. The grid is not created automatically
and repeatedly, as for some artworks, it is necessary
to calculate.
CLEAN — Simple and easy to understand, with no
redundant elements.
FLEXIBLE — graphic elements can be transformed.
INDEPENDENT — Elements are separate but together
they form a well-arranged structure.
DECENTRALIZATION — We don’t necessarily require
to have the same grid on all media.

To create the illusion of shadow and

with another symbol, whether abstract
or real. This approach is not suitable
for every situation; it really is a creative
opportunity. Ideal for brand images,
motion design, infographics, slideshows,

people know what TEDOM is.
The symbol chosen should not be
random. It should correspond with the
message, the medium used or the
uniqueness of the event.

The grid is a versatile graphic tool that
can even be applied to things and
situations which do not normally elicit
creativity. These are practical (e.g.,
lines in a notebook) or technically
complicated objects (e.g., a signage
on a building).
A grid can then be comprised of
repeating elements that the object
contains and are arranged in a pattern.
For example, the arrangement of light
bulbs in a LED-light signage or a floor
area. A small detail that retains the
function but customizes the object.
By arranging the grid, you support the
concept TEDOM’s visual identity.
Choose carefully though, as it is not
necessary to apply the grid against the
function. On the contrary, it should
build on it. Sometimes you just need to
choose well or slightly adjust the
specification before production.
In this case, creativity is just finding the
potential of objects. Knowing when and
how to implement the brand into the
medium.

There is only one condition when
working with the grid: it must never
compromise the legibility of the logo.
You can place the logo inside the grid
or above the grid. The grid surrounding
the logo is the preferred version.
We don’t recommend putting the logo
below the grid or on the edge of the
grid.
KEEP THE EXCLUSION ZONE
When working with the grid and logo,
remember to respect the exclusion
zone. Align vertically on the edges of
the units and horizontally to the centre
of the units.

is very subtle with a high density of
small units, feel free to put the large

If you plan to use a photo, it is not nec-
essary to apply the grid. The grid does
not have to be used in every branded
message or medium. Primarily, it is
a graphic tool.
The only one role of the grid is to be
a part of image. For example, in cropped
photos, we can use the grid as a raster
for shading/reflection. If you don’t have
an idea how to make it look natural, opt
rather to leave the photo clean.
THE PHOTO IS MORE IMPORTANT
THAN THE GRID
The grid in combination with the photo
should look like an unobtrusive addition.
It shouldn’t steal the focus of the image.
Do not apply the grid as an overlay, filler
or frame of the photo.
The grid can be used as a natural part
of the image: surfaces, wallpaper,
patterns, props, etc. The grid should
not interfere with the photo artificially.
Try to build the grid from a different
theme than the units.
One again, displaying the grid in a photo
is not necessary.

In contrast, the grid can be creatively played with.
It can be just a graphic addition, a distinctive motif
or a message carrier.

Most often, electricity is portrayed by
speed and bright lines. TEDOM is not
about flow. Electricity is associated with
on/off, is/isn’t, and heat is more about
slowness — the human dimension of
time — bonding and certainty.
Using blur and depth of focus just
to render space. Even here, we prefer
rather a difference in size. The grid
should be flat, sharp and clear, not
behaving like an amoeba, free
substance, or organic chaos.
The Grid must not overwhelm import-
ant information. Work with it in respect
