• Steroids are very bad for your body
because they can cause you to have very
bad health conditions. This can cause you
to have a very bad heart and be addicted
to this drug. People will overuse steroids
and then use more than they should the
will stack them.
3. How are steroids abused?
• Some people abuse and overuse steroids.
Most of the people that abuse steroids are
athletes because they are trying to make out
the ability in sports. People abuse them by
using them over and over this is usually
referred to as cycling. Cycling is when you use
them for a short period of time and then stop
and then start back and continue the process
over and over again.
4. How do steroids affect the brain?
• The immediate effects of steroids in the brain
are meditated by their binding to androgen
(male sex hormone) and estrogen (female sex
hormone) receptors on the surface of a cell.
5. What are treatment options for
steroids?
• There has been very little research done for
steroid abuse. They have learned that, in
general, supportive therapy combined with
education about possible withdrawal
symptoms is sufficient in some cases.
Sometimes medication can be used to restore
the balance of the hormonal system after its
disruption by steroid abuse.
