Introduction to Les Rodanes Parc Natural English school
1. Introduction to Les Rodanes Parc Natural and our English school
‘A unique and different approach for the Valencian Community’
What is the Les Rodanes Parc Natural English School?
A life-changing experience. A fun time with friends. An opportunity
to discover a new language, interests and talents. A tool to
develop essential skills for life and work. A recognised mark of
achievement; respected by employers.
The Les Rodanes Parc Natural is many things to many people,
supporting generations to successfully navigate adult life.
Your path to learning English, step by step from 3 to 65-year-olds
can take part in a Les Rodanes Parc Natural English school
programme at one of our progressive levels: Beginners, Starters,
Movers and Flyers which, when successfully completed, leads to
official Cambridge English Qualifications, our in-depth English
exams that make learning English enjoyable, effective and
rewarding. Our unique approach encourages continuous
progression with a clear path to improve English language skills.
Other benefits also include helping the community/environment,
becoming fitter, developing new skills, planning and training for a
better future.
Any young person or adult can do their Les Rodanes Parc Natural English school awards –
regardless of ability, gender, background or location. Achieving an Award isn’t a competition or
about being first. It’s all about setting personal challenges and pushing personal boundaries.
Through the Les Rodanes Parc Natural English school programme young and old people will have
fun, make friends, improve their self-esteem and build confidence. They gain essential skills and
attributes for work and life such as resilience, problem-solving, teamwork, communication and
personal determination, enhancing CVs, University and job applications, even to starting your own
business. We will support you all the way.
2. Participants
Young people develop a whole range of skills and attributes such as resilience, confidence,
commitment, drive, self-awareness, empathy, team working and problem solving, which support
them in navigating adult life.
Les Rodanes Parc Natural English school will give you a fantastic opportunity to do lots of
activities and things that people who are not in the school, do not get to do. It’s about having fun
learning English and activities with good friends.’
Les Rodanes Parc Natural English school builds and develops people’s confidence, English skills,
sense of adventure and outdoor skills, as well as encouraging them to explore their creativity,
beliefs and attitudes. It offers them the independence to put these skills into practice.
Students and adults are encouraged to work together to take the lead on all sorts of projects,
ranging from community-based activities to planning games and targeted programs for their
English classes.
We can be flexible for our participants with special needs.
Activities
All participants are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities as part of their English
learning process programme from basic English skills, to advanced English skills via a number of
activities such as camping, horse riding, observing nature as well as a wider spectrum of
adventurous activities, from abseiling to orienteering.
3. Participation rather than meeting set standards is the key approach, and there are a number of
badges and awards that the Beginners, Starters, Movers and Flyers Initiative can gain to
recognise their achievements.
Activity award badges
Many of the badges available are activity badges, which allow the Beginners, Starters, Movers and
Flyers Initiative to show their progress in existing pursuits, but also to try all kinds of new things
and form new interests while learning English.

Challenge awards and recognising achievement
To keep people motivated and recognise their achievements we have our own challenge awards
and certificates.
Gaining a challenge award involves accomplishing a number of more ambitious tasks within the
group. There are several challenge awards across a number of themes, from physical and outdoor
challenges, to dealing with the local community and even issues directly connected with the
English language.
To help us suitably recognise the accomplishments of our participants in a fun and engaging way, we’ve
compiled some guidelines below.
Good behaviour
Student of the week/month: Such recognition and status will provide that person with a sense of
pride and appreciation. It will not only encourage them and others but it will help them maintain a
steady progression.
Tokens: Award our Student(s) a token. These tokens show your activity and Group logo printed on
a laminated card. For each token received, they are a step closer to obtaining the grand prize,
which could be a trophy, certificate or badge. To reward our people a badge for good behaviour, is
a perfect idea for the Beginners, Starters, Movers and Flyers Initiative, and makes it fun and
5. rewarding! End-of-meeting games: Allow participants to choose what game the section can play at
the next meeting.
Conquering fears
Certificates: customised for conquering fears for specific activities.
Age range guidelines
The opportunity for a person to progress through the sections within our English school is
fundamental. All people should be encouraged to move into the next section, or near to the core
age range of the section and level of English. The Programme and awards for each section have
been designed with these core age ranges in mind, and have been developed primarily for
participation and involvement with the required flexibility to allow all young and old to enjoy and
achieve.
It is important that the needs and interests of any person and particularly those with special needs
are kept in mind and regularly reviewed. We will continue to identify occasions where further
flexibility may be required to enable full participation in the Les Rodanes Parc Natural English
school.
It is essential that leaders talk to each other and share information. This might cover information
about a specific special need, medical information, participation in the Programme, personal likes
and dislikes. All discussions should be held with the appropriate responsible person.
There is already flexibility in the age ranges for moving from one Section to the next.
Section Age Range Flexibility
Little Squirrels
Nature Club
3 - 8
years old
2 and a half and up to 8 ½ years old
Beginners – Starters
and Movers.
8 - 18
years old
7 to 18 years old
Flyers
18 - 65 years
old
17 and up to 65 years old
There may be occasions when it will be appropriate to further extend this flexibility. For example,
the Managing Director of the school may permit a young person to be in a Section outside of the
recommended age range, due to a young person's additional needs and/or disability.
The exception to this is that on turning 18, all Students must move into the Flyers Network or, if
appropriate, apply for an adult volunteer role via the standard appointments process. At 18, an
individual is legally an adult and cannot be in a youth Section.
Discussing age range flexibility
The decision to request age range flexibility should be in consultation with the parent/ carer, the
young person and with a local volunteer holding an inclusionary role. In all cases the decision
should be based upon enabling that person to fully participate within Les Rodanes Parc Natural
English school. The decision should be approved by the Managing Director and should be
reviewed annually.
