2 Apply online for a vehicle import permit from the
Department of Infrastructure ($50 Cost). Once
approved and received, let's talk shipping.
SHIPPING
3 Contact a shipping agent such as BTi Automotive
Logistics who can assist with importing, customs
clearance, quarantine and delivery of the vehicle
to your door.
DUTY + GST
4 Importing a vehicle more than 30 years old? Great
news, you don't need to pay duty, only GST!
Importing a car under 30 years old, you need to
pay 5% duty. 10% GST will be payable for all
imports.

5 Ensure your vehicle meets compliance standards
within your state and get your vehicle registered.

THINGS TO REMEMBER
6 Your vehicle will be subject to quarantine
inspection upon entry into Australia.
Have your vehicle thoroughly cleaned inside
and out before shipping and be prepared to
have to quarantine wash upon entry into
Australia.
If your vehicle has an air-conditioner, you will
need to check with the department of the
Environment if it needs to be de-gassed.
