5. INTRODUCTION TO RESERVATION
SYSTEM OF INDIA
It is the process
of setting a
certain
percentage of
vacancies in
government
institutions for
the members of
backward
communities.
Indian
reservation
system was
launched in 1950
by DR. Bhim Rao
Ambedkar.
There are four
categories in the
reservation that
is General, Other
Backward
classes(OBC),
Scheduled
Caste(SC’s) and
Scheduled
Tribe(ST’s).
Initially, the
policy was only
for 10 years to
uplift the socially
and under
privileged to
stabilise them
economically.
Unfortunately,
we stand divided
widely into
Hindu, Muslim,
SC, ST, OBC with
newer
reservations
coming up from
different sections
of society like
Christians, Jats,
Pandits, Tribal
etc.
7. ISSUES RELATED TO EDUCATION
When a student applies for an
admission in any university, the
admission forms are filled with
questions like are you SC/ST or
OBC or General Category?Due to reservation system
students belongs to General
categories and OBC faces
many problems in taking
admissions especially
Government Institutions.In the education system
scholarship is also reserved
and give more scholarship to
SC's & ST’s as compare to
general category students.
10. ISSUES RELATED TO EMPLOYMENTIn the reservation
system employment
is related to
education system of
India.
The general category
students those who prepare
for competitive exams like
SSC, Railway, IAS etc.
become very difficult to take
jobs as compare to SC’s ST’s
students.
Due to reservation students
are moving further to
private sector jobs instead
of govt. sector.
Now a days unemployment
is increasing day by day
because of this policy of

13. ISSUES RELATED TO ELECTIONToday, out of
543 seats in
India's
parliament, 84
(15.47%) are
reserved for
SC/Dalits and 47
(8.66%)for
ST/Tribes.
Due to reservation
system the
candidate who is
entitled for win the
election the
different candidate
wins the election.Hence, the leaders
make so many
disputes for wining
the election on the
power of casteism.
Because of
reservation there
are so many
problems are
created in
elections.
14. CONCLUSION
The issue of reservation has remained a cause of
disagreement between the reserved and the
non- reserved sections of the society.
Today all sections of the society have been
developed economically, culturally and socially.
So, the need of reservation in India is limited.
Hence, reservation should be provided to the
people who really need it and only those people
who are physically challenged.
