Why 50001? • ESOS Compliance • Long term ISO 14001 • HEFCE – carbon target 43% reduction by 2020 • The School’s largest environmental impact areas are: – Procurement (scope 3 emissions) – Use of energy (and associated emissions) • From the existing facilities • And the future proposed facilities

The Surprise Benefits • No stone left uncovered effect – Improved training records & operational controls – Lifts, a 124 in total! • 56 fitted with Eco drives • 7 lifts with expressing • 73 lifts with LED lighting – Fear of the unknown (first audit) • Internal audits with more oomph (compared to 14001) • Influenced a review of all carbon / energy related future plans.
