3. Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year
Awarded to an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander student who displays a strong understanding and knowledge
of the voca onal educa on and training system and demonstrates the relevance of lifelong learning for
themselves and their community.
4. Aus n Asche Appren ce of the Year
Awarded to a final year Australian Appren ce who has been outstanding in all aspects of their trade.
5. School-based Appren ce or Trainee of the Year
Awarded to a current Year 11 or 12 student who has completed or is comple ng a Cer ficate II level or above
na onally recognised qualifica on as a part- me Australian school-based appren ce or trainee. The award
recognises the student’s commitment to their formal studies at school, and in the workplace.
6. Trainee of the Year
Awarded to an individual who is comple ng or has recently completed a traineeship and has been outstanding
in all aspects of their training.
7. VET in Schools Student of the Year
Awarded to a school student who has proven their commitment to being the best they can be in their VET in
schools program.
8. VET Teacher / Trainer of the Year
Recognises innova on and excellence by a teacher / trainer providing na onally recognised training to students
at a registered training organisa on (RTO), or in partnership with an RTO.
9. Voca onal Student of the Year
Recognises an outstanding student’s achievement in a course of study leading to a na onally recognised
qualifica on.
10. Industry Collabora on Award
Recognises an exemplary skills development collabora on between at least one employer / industry body and at
least one organisa on delivering na onally recognised training.
11. Small Employer of the Year
Awarded to a small enterprise that achieved excellence in the provision of na onally recognised training to its
employees. This category is open to organisa ons that employ 19 or fewer full- me equivalent employees.
12. Medium Employer of the Year
Awarded to a medium enterprise that achieved excellence in the provision of na onally recognised training to
its employees. This category is open to organisa ons that employ between 20 and 200 full- me equivalent
employees.
13. Large Employer of the Year
Awarded to a large enterprise that achieved excellence in the provision of na onally recognised training to its
employees. This category is open to organisa ons that employ over 200 full- me equivalent employees.
14. Training Provider of the Year
Awarded to a registered training organisa on that has demonstrated excellence and high level performance in
all aspects of voca onal educa on and training.
15. Australian Training Awards
Winners of the following individual categories will go on to
represent the Northern Territory at the Australian Training Awards.
