2015 Key Topics in S&OP Survey Results

Summary of findings
 Consumer products companies made up the bulk of respondents this year (41%)
 CEO/General Manager was the top sponsoring function with 78% reporting a sponsor above manager level
 KPI and results management was the leading challenge with S&OP, while executive support was not a top
challenge this year
 Most are getting improvements in KPIs in the 0-10% range, especially in the areas of OTIF, inventory, and
forecast error
 Intangible improvements of accountability definition, working to a single plan, and teamwork ranked the
highest
 S&OP integration with financial planning wasn’t as strong in this sample set, and the integration of new
products/product portfolio review with S&OP remains a gap for most
 Technology use also ranked highly as a challenge - 87% of respondents are using spreadsheets (often in
conjunction with another system), and respondents were divided about the adequacy of their existing tools
vs. the need for new tools.
 Most companies in the sample are using software technology only for basic S&OP functionality (e.g. report
support, KPI preparation)
