3. The Golden Rule; Compassion; Paying It Forward It seems when life is full of white water the human tendency is to withdraw, to reserve vital resources for oneself. What if, just the opposite is true? What if there has never been a better time in my life and yours to give, to act with empathy, to serve and to treat everyone as we would want to be treated? 4. Self Love I know I am called to love everyone and believe me, I ascribe to this but lately I’ve found myself running a little dry, not always as full, as generous as abundant as I would hope. What matters this year is that I love others as myself …and that means valuing myself as much as others. Photo by oclark53

5. Meaning & Purpose Life is art, it’s jazz. Our goal is to architect, design and create the most authentic life based on what has meaning, purpose and value to each of us. Improvise. 6. Authenticity I don’t believe in A road to happiness OR ladders to success. There are no strategic goals; right for all. Life is not something we pursue, it’s something we create. The truest form of you, resides within you; dig down, follow your intuition, don’t be afraid to color outside of the lines. Listen to your song. The world is hungry, actually starving for your unique contribution. You being you, inspires me, encourages me…. to be me….

7. Contemplative Action I can no longer tolerate action for the mere act of acting. Not all action is equal, some is quite contrary to my intent, values and purpose. Unconscious busyness is just distraction. I choose this year to detach and reflect before jumping in. I choose to harmonize action with questions. To evaluate the consequences, the costs to myself and others and to align with my values and purpose… before acting.

8. Harmony Balance is unrealistic and truth be told, it reminds me a little too much of that flat line my body will look like when my heart beat goes to zero. This year I choose harmony ; the alignment between purpose and action. Photo is the group Harmony’s icon on Flickr

9. Adventure Life is dynamic. I’m not dead yet. I want adventure and I want it in more areas than just my work. I want to remain curious and adventurous in all areas because adventure; it makes me feel alive! This is a whale which jumped just mere feet from a small boat I sat in, outside of Sayulita Mexico. Adventure I want more.

10. Win WIN; Receiving as well as giving I have a tendency to orchestrate win’s for others. I find it easy to give and be generous, so this year I want to practice engaging with people and endeavors where I receive as well as give. One of my life time best friends giving to me on my birthday last year…. I love you Sharon!

11. Play Gaming is the new literature. I feel I’ve been getting a tad bit boring. I want to play more, have some fun; blur the lines in all I do so that there is no separation or isolated venue, time or portion of life that is off limits from fun and play. I want to play. 12. Intentionally Present I want to show up this year. Present in each moment. Knowing that a quality life is created and experienced moment by moment. I want to be deliberate and intentional; not lost in my thoughts. Photo from flickrPeter Kurdulija

13. Inspiring My calling is inspiration. I want to write, facilitate and orchestrate as much inspiration, encouragement and resourcing I can this year – it makes me; me and….. well me being me; that’s what matters…NOW. Photo by jasontheaker .

14. Community and Collaboration I’ve struggled with isolation during seasons of my life. As a creative type I sometimes need more alone time than others. As a writer I crave silence. And yet I know that what matters now is for me to engage genuinely in community and to collaborate . No woman is an island – Flickr Photo click here

15. Asking for What I WANT I love asking others what they need next, or what they want next. I’m not that good at knowing what I want. I rarely listen to myself when it comes to my wants and needs, this year I’m going to clarify what I want and start asking for it…. Photo by auntsmack4u on flickr

16. Sustainability Is it sustainable? What matters now is that I ask this question before I make investments of time, resources and talents. Does it sustain the purpose and meaning of my life and is the investment one I can sustain? This year life will be simpler, truer, I’ll say no more often as I protect my yes; my life calling. I want to do a better job of stewarding my resources.

17. Engaging and Listening I want to be there and engage and when I’m there, I want to listen. I want to really hear the other person, not just run the tapes in my mind. I want to listen this year…all year long. My two incredible kids; Rosie and Zach!

18. Things I’m saying goodbye to in 2009 ….sure there’s probably more….

19. Fear I am scared of many things, mostly I’m scared that I might not have the courage to live as outrageously as I’d like to in this next year…. Photo from flickr click here

20. Busy as an Addiction I’m saying goodbye to busyness for busyness sake. I’m tired of a life of constant doing. I’m ready to be more….and do less. Don’t get me wrong action has it’s place, this year I will be doing less; so I can BE more. Flickr photo click here

22. Curiosity and Questions I don’t know what I don’t know. I want to remain curious. Always learning and asking questions. I want to engage others in questions, the questions that matter this year. What are the questions that matter, to you? Photo by jhhwild

23. Fighting With Reality I’m so done with fighting reality, I never win and it’s taken way too much of my life. I’ve made peace with it. Reality-that is. Now I’m getting on with this embracing what is…what are you going to do about it- reality that is…? Photo by frank_reid_photographer .

24. Worry and Anxiety I’m so done with letting these two time robbers take up mental space they are so gone….done. I’ve broken up with them once and for ALL! Photo by hkvam.

25. Incompletions I’m done moving onto something new before wrapping up completions. Creativity is one thing, so is variety, but chaos results when I don’t manage completions. Completions give me the energy to create . Photo by tomschaefer

26. Networking Ad Nauseum I don’t like the word and I don’t like the feel. I will be connecting, engaging and a part of communities in 2010. I won’t be networking …ever again. I crave authentic and genuine interactions not regurgitated elevator pitches. Flickr source photo
