David Gerendas, Group Product Manager, Intel Security Ray Potter, CEO of SafeLogic With the advent of the cloud and the explosion of mobile endpoints, enterprises have increased their focus on maintaining data integrity and confidentiality from growing threats. As a result, the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program, a.k.a. FedRAMP, has taken on greater significance outside of federal deployments. By standardizing requirements and expectations, the program has set a strong benchmark for the entire cloud industry. In response to repeated security breaches that have damaged brands’ credibility, corporate mandates are now matching and even exceeding their government counterparts. If you are not FedRAMP compliant, enterprises demand to know why not. The use of encryption is integral to FedRAMP and has become ubiquitous in the effort to protect information assets. But while certain crypto algorithms are often installed alone and unverified, customer expectations have risen in recent years. Enterprises certainly no longer accept homegrown cryptography from vendors, strongly preferring to rely upon solutions that have been vetted by third-party labs and validated by the government. Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 is the leading international standard for encryption and the Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP) was established to certify solutions that meet the stringent benchmark. In tandem, FedRAMP and FIPS offer the highest level of assurance for cloud buyers, but both are still generally misunderstood. You will learn: • What FedRAMP compliance entails • Advantages of using a validated cryptographic module in the cloud • How encryption modules become validated and the pitfalls of the process • Meaning of FedRAMP compliance claims and how to confirm • Right questions to ask vendors about their encryption and FedRAMP compliance

Dr. K.N. Rao states in the foreword “Why Sthira Dasha” in the book “Predicting through Jaimini’s Sthira Dasha” by Ms. Akhila Kumar, that a traditional Punjabi astrologer did solve the above problem through the following method: 1. Find out the strongest house between the lagna and 7th house. 2. Find out the strongest of the lords of the 6th, 8th and 12th houses from the strongest of the houses between the lagna and the 7th houses. 3. Among the seven planets exclude Saturn for the position of Brahma. 4. Rahu and Ketu should never be considered as they have no place in the scheme of the calculation of graha and rasi bala scheme. Dr. Rao states that the above method has been used for over 2 decades by successive batches of astrology students with great success.

These notes on Predictive Astrology Through the Nirayana System have been prepared due to request made by our students from time to time. Efforts have been made to make them very comprehensive so that they would be useful while interpreting charts in the Nirayana system in the class room. Niryana System has its links with Vedic Astrology, which is very complicated due to its symbolic expressions. To make things easier, references have been made to various texts and a glossary has been appended at the end in part II. There are limitations to these notes and student should bear this in mind: 1. Extra-Saturnine planets have not been mentioned in these notes. 2. The Sayana aspects have not been discussed. 3. Cases studies to substantiate the theories have not been given. The above threo topics would require a lot of research and shall definitely be touched upon in future updates or separately. In the meantime, I am confident that students would use the extra-Saturnine planets based on the findimgs of Sayancharya, Shri Shridhar Govind Joshi, in his collections published under the title: “Meditation upon certain principles from Brihat Parashari”, which is popularly known as Pratinavamsha. So far as the Sayana aspects, along with the declinations, are concerned, Shri Chandrakant Bhatt has done a commendable job in his book “Nirayan Horoscope and Western Aspects.” At the moment case-studies are done in the class room. I thank all my teachers and guides who have assisted me time and again to reach so far. Max Handiel, in “The Message of the Stars” states: “Whether a person will have children or not cannot be judged from his or her individual horoscope with any degree of accuracy for this matter is not dependent on one only, therefore the horoscope of the prospective parents should be compared and the individuals indications blended, then if both horoscopes show a fruitful nature many children will be born, but if both are only moderately fertile, or if one is very fruitful and the other barren, the forecast must be made accordingly.”

A powerful Rajyoga is formed if a planet is aspecting the janma lagna, Hora lagna and Ghatika lagna whereby the native gets power and wealth, and he is respected like a King. In the same way, Rajoyoga is formed if a planet is aspecting the same spot in Rashi Kundali, Navmas Kundali, Drekkana Kundali, Lagna Kundali and Saptamash Kundali. The presence of these karak elements is necessary for auspicious results. If a Karak element is absent, maximum results cannot be obtained.

Brihat parasara Hora shastra states in Chapter 3., Shloka 68 : “Whichever portion is ruled by Saturn, will be the portion of Gulika”. As there are many methods of calculations of Gulika and Mandi in our granthas, at this juncture, it is always advisable to follow the methods which are research-based. Hence I have chosen to follow the methods of Dr. K.S, Charak as stated in his book Essentials of Medical Astrology. Gulika: - In daytimes the lords of the first 7 parts are the seven planets reckoned from the lord of the week-day chosen in the order, the Sun, the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn. - The 8th or last portion has no lord. - Therefore Gulika's position corresponds to the ascendant rising at the beginning of Saturn's part (that is the beginning of the 7th part). - A lagna (ascendant) is for the time when Gulika begins. This represents the longitude of Gulika.
