10. • After 2 days of discussion, delegates concluded
(amongst a long list):
– The WHO Guidelines are an important tool – and
should be used to guide all stakeholders in issues
related to wheelchair provision;
– Donated wheelchairs should be ‘appropriate’
– Prior to the donation of wheelchairs, there should be
consultation between the stakeholders (including: user
representatives, service providers and the donor
organisation) to determine whether the wheelchairs are
appropriate and service delivery systems are in place.
