IXDA Tunis

5. What is UX Writing?

7. Content Design
A content designer’s task is to
communicate information in the best way
possible. They usually work with text,
images, or video. Content designers
research the audience so that they can
design effective content for them. They try
to make it simple for that audience to find
the content they need.
11. Microcopy
Microcopy refers to the tiny bits of
copy on products. From the label on
a call to action button, to the
placeholder text in input fields in
forms, we use it everywhere on our
interfaces. Tiny tidbits of copy, big
impact on our experience.
17. Why?
Simply put, UX writers help users
achieve their goals when they use a
product. They do this by writing the
text that guides users as they
navigate and interact with digital
products, including calls-to-action,
help content, onboarding flows,
menu taxonomy, and more.

21. UX Copywriting
UX copywriting is the art of using
language to make branded experiences
easier and more enjoyable for users.
There are other, higher-falutin' ways of
describing UX copy ('the use of language
to design a conversation between brand
and user'), but actually, the meaning of
the term is fairly simple.
24. Skills that can make a UX copywriter stand out from a
crowd of writers and UX designers:
● A focus on solving
problems
● A special knack for tiny
words
● A concern for space
● Some technical background

Considers the user:
● Who’s reading this?
● What background knowledge do they
have?
● What are their goals?
● What are their pain points?
27.
28. Just like good ux, good copy…
Considers the context:
● Where are they physically?
● What device are they using?
● Are they in a rush?
● Have they been to this page/screen
before? How often?
29. Just like good ux, good copy…
Considers the flow:
● What did they do before this?
● What can they do next?
Considers the business goals:
Ideally, what would we like them to do?
30. Just like good ux, good copy…
Considers the brand:
How do we want the
overall experience to
feel?
