  4. 4. info@autoforecastsolutions.com 855.734.4590www.autoforecastsolutions.com AutoForecast Solutions 4 April2016:NewYorkInternationalAutoShowReview LuxuryDebuts Mark a Great Economy Its strange how it looks like Green Cars are the highlight of this year’s New York auto show when gasoline is averaging under $2 across the United States. General Motors highlighted updates to their smallest Buick and the littlest American-made Chevrolet, Porsche launched a four-cylinder Macan crossover, Toyota launched a 50-state plug-in hybrid, Acura introduced a hybrid version of the MDX, and even the first Genesis brand concept sported a hybrid drivetrain. The biggest splashes, however, were from the less eco-friendly side of the industry. Mercedes- Benz showed a sportier version of its compact GLC crossover with 367hp along with two high- performance AMG versions of other models. Kia took the show to introduce the second generation of its Cadenza full-sized sedan. Nissan’s supercar, the GT-R, added new styling and even more power. Porsche went old-school with its racing edition 911 R with less weight, a real 6-speed manual transaxle and a larger non-turbo six-cylinder pumping out 500hp. But, arguably, the stars of the show were two concepts for two different luxury marques. Rumored for nearly a decade, Hyundai rolled out is Genesis brand earlier this year with revamped versions of the top two Hyundai models. As part of a future six-model lineup, it was a certainty that announcements were on their way. The first came in the form of the “New York Concept,” which promises to point the way for the new Genesis design theme and hint at the upcoming “entry-level” Genesis G70 sedan. The beauty of the “New York Concept” cannot be properly demonstrated in photographs since there are just too many details that need to be seen as a whole. Obvious winner. As part of Lincoln’s reintroduction to the world, Matthew McConnaughey swaggered onto the stage and unveiled the Navigator Concept. This is the second straight introduction where an actual name was used instead of the “MK” series that flushed Zephyr and Town Car from the lexicon. As a large SUV concept, the Navigator shows the clean lines from the Continental and the vast interior space offered in the Navigator production model. Even though its lavish and huge gull-wing doors won’t make production, another obvious winner.
  5. 5. info@autoforecastsolutions.com 855.734.4590www.autoforecastsolutions.com AutoForecast Solutions 5 World Car of theYear 2016 Mazda MX-5 The 10th annual World Car Awards announcement saw the Mazda MX-5 overcome its runner-up status (North American and European COTY) to take the prize over the Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz GLC. Other awards included Design (Mazda MX-5), Green Car (Toyota Mirai), Performance Car (Audi R8), and Luxury Car (BMW 7-Series). 2016 Audi A4 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC
  6. 6. info@autoforecastsolutions.com 855.734.4590www.autoforecastsolutions.com AutoForecast Solutions 6 Daimler 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe •Starting with the new GLC crossover, Mercedes-Benz created a sportier “coupe” body style to take on the BMW X4 •Enhancing its sportier style, the GLC Coupe drops the frames from the standard GLC’s windows, removes the wagon- like roofline in favor of a hatch- like silhouette, and lowers the top for a sleeker, faster look •Nearly three inches longer, an inch and a half lower, and more than 4 ¼ inches wider than the standard GLC, the Coupe has a more aggressive demeanor and style •Under the hood lies a twin-turbocharged V6 engine producing 367hp and pushing it all through Mercedes-Benz’ 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission powering all four 21-inch wheels
  7. 7. info@autoforecastsolutions.com 855.734.4590www.autoforecastsolutions.com AutoForecast Solutions 7 Ford 2016 LincolnNavigatorconcept •Just about as wild as modern American concepts get, the Navigator concept provides a look at the new Lincoln styling theme stretched across the large SUV canvas •The new Continental’s front clip has been enlarged to Navigator size and still retains the modern look of the large sedan •Instead of the four doors on the standard-length Navigator, the concept fills the sides with two large gull-wing doors hinged near the central line of the truck; production version will obviously trade them for swinging doors •The next generation of 3.5L EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 engine is said to produce over 400hp in this vehicle
  8. 8. info@autoforecastsolutions.com 855.734.4590www.autoforecastsolutions.com AutoForecast Solutions 8 FujiHeavy 2017 Subaru Impreza •Subaru’s fifth generation Impreza showcases a mild update on an all-new platform •Continuing as a four-door sedan and a “5-door” hatchback or small wagon, the new model adds production lines in the US to accommodate assembly of Canadian and US vehicles •Subaru’s new platform will be the basis for all next-generation models from the brand •Marginally larger, the sedan continues the look of earlier generations while the 5-door gains a little more crossover-like styling with its larger tail section but still keeping the family resemblance to the earlier model
  9. 9. info@autoforecastsolutions.com 855.734.4590www.autoforecastsolutions.com AutoForecast Solutions 9 GeneralMotors 2017 ChevroletCamaro ZL1 •About 200 pounds lighter than the outgoing model, the new Camaro ZL1 is even more track- focused •Starting with the restyled body of the new Camaro, the ZL1 tops the lineup with a unique powertrain and the debut of a new transmission •The Corvette’s supercharged V8 pushes 640hp in this application •A joint development between Ford and General Motors, the ZL1 is GM’s first use of the new 10-speed automatic transmission, which will eventually find its way into a number of rear-wheel drive models •Pricing for the coupe is expected to be in the US$60,000 range, a convertible version will also be offered
  10. 10. info@autoforecastsolutions.com 855.734.4590www.autoforecastsolutions.com AutoForecast Solutions 10 GeneralMotors 2017 ChevroletSonic •New styling and features bring the subcompact back for more fierce competition •Outside, the Sonic drops the round headlights in favor of LED running lights and the Chevrolet face shown on the new Bolt and Cruze •The new interior features things Millenials expect such as 4G LTE wi-fi, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with a new 7- inch touchscreen •Sedans will be offered in four trim levels while the hatchback will only be offered in the sportier RS trim •Powertrain choice continue to be a non-turbo 1.8L four-cylinder or a 138hp 1.4L turbocharged four with 6-speed automatic or manual transaxles
  11. 11. info@autoforecastsolutions.com 855.734.4590www.autoforecastsolutions.com AutoForecast Solutions 11 Honda 2017 Acura MDX •First model to adopt Acura’s new design language which made its debut on the concept car shown at January’s NAIAS •The MDX’s grille is now more prominently diamond pentagon- shaped and sports a larger version of the Acura caliper logo •Inside, the MDX gains USB charging ports, an “ultra- widescreen Rear Entertainment System, and real wood trim •Standard and Advance models Super Handling All-Wheel drive •Sport Hybrid model combines a 3.0L SOHC V6 and 7-speed dual-clutch transaxle along with a front motor and rear “Twin Motor Unit” into a hybrid system that generates 325hp and includes Sport Hybrid SH-AWD traction for a 7mpg improvement over non-hybrid models
  12. 12. info@autoforecastsolutions.com 855.734.4590www.autoforecastsolutions.com AutoForecast Solutions 12 Hyundai 2016 Genesis New York concept •First look at the new styling direction for the Genesis brand as well as a glimpse of the new mid-sized G70 model •Styling details on the concept, including bronze accents and “gills” on the fenders and grille that move to the inside, cover the car completely while not looking busy or overwrought •Modern interior sports a 21-inch LG-supplied curved 4K screen that covers much of the instrument panel’s center which allows for gesture control of various features •The hybrid drivetrain combines a 2.0L direct-injected gasoline four- cylinder engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission and electric motors
  13. 13. info@autoforecastsolutions.com 855.734.4590www.autoforecastsolutions.com AutoForecast Solutions 13 Hyundai 2017 Kia Cadenza •Kia’s second generation full- sized front-drive sedan, the Cadenza continues to take aim at entry-premium models such as Toyota’s Avalon •Because it was introduced late in its global life-cycle, the Cadenza is being updated only two years after its North American introduction •Two different trim levels can be differentiated by their grille designs; base models feature the “Diamond Butterfly” styling that ties it with the rest of the Kia lineup while the upper models get a unique “Intaglio” grille with its vertical slats •Lower and wider, the new Cadenza has a 290hp version of the 3.3L V6 and a new eight-speed transaxle
  14. 14. info@autoforecastsolutions.com 855.734.4590www.autoforecastsolutions.com AutoForecast Solutions 14 Mazda 2017 Mazda MX-5 RF •In this use, “RF” stands for retractable fastback to differentiate it from the earlier retractable hardtop •Unlike the earlier retractable hardtop MX-5, this version sports sail panels for a permanent fastback style but the targa-type roof opening removes automatically at the touch of a button at speeds of up to 10km/h (6mph) •Mechanically, the RF is identical to the standard roadster edition with its 2.0L SKY-ACTIV-G four-cylinder for North American customers while a 1.5L version will be offered to various global markets
  15. 15. info@autoforecastsolutions.com 855.734.4590www.autoforecastsolutions.com AutoForecast Solutions 15 Renault/Nissan 2017 Nissan GT-R •The biggest change in the GT-R since its 2007 North American introduction, the new model gets updated styling and power •Nissan’s family “V-motion” grille opening is adapted to the top-of- the-line GT-R model with new ground effect sills protruding from under each side •Revised rear-end styling keeps the four round taillights and adds more pronounced quad chromed exhaust tips •Inside, the GT-R gets simpler audio system controls and a larger touch panel •Hand-built in Japan, the GT-R’s 3.8L DOHC twin-turbo V6 improves from 545hp to 565hp while adding 4 lb-ft of torque; even the 6-speed dual- clutch transmission is improved with smoother shifting
  16. 16. info@autoforecastsolutions.com 855.734.4590www.autoforecastsolutions.com AutoForecast Solutions 16 Renault/Nissan 2017 Nissan Titan Half Ton •Alongside its bigger XD brother, the standard Titan pickup will hit the showroom floor later this year •Sharing only basic styling and cab size, the “half-ton” model has a shorter nose and its own frame •Single-, King-, and Crew-Cab varieties will be offered, each with its own bed length •Also offered in the larger XD, the “half-ton” model gets Nissan’s “Endurance” 5.6L DOHC V8 gasoline engine and 7-speed automatic transmission in 4x2 and 4x4 editions; a gasoline V6 is planned for later introduction but only in the “half-ton”
  17. 17. info@autoforecastsolutions.com 855.734.4590www.autoforecastsolutions.com AutoForecast Solutions 17 Toyota 2017 Toyota Prius Prime •Breaking from the prior plug-in version of the Prius, the new model gains its own name and styling •Expected to be a bigger seller than the earlier plug-in, the 50- state (unlike the earlier model) Prius Prime features a more Murai-like front end with unique fenders, hood, and front end from the standard Prius •A new instrument panel showcases a huge 11.6-inch HD display with navigation along with heads-up display and wireless phone charging •Improved driveline allows the Prime to operate for up to 22 miles on EV- only mode at speeds of up to 84mph; with its 11.3-gallon gas tank, the Prime is capable of more than 600 miles between fill ups
