2. Class Description
This language class is designed to increase your communication skills through
reading, speaking, wring, and the study of the English language, based upon
the standards of the Common Core. Our main focus in this language arts
class will be to improve reading skills, mastery of different writing styles,
demonstration of the rules of grammar, and the ability to express yourself
orally.
3. Our major units of study will include but are
not limited to:
Types of writing (Narrative writing,
Expository writing, technical writing,
and persuasive writing)
Poetry
Short stories
Mythology/ Folklore
Sentence fluency and construction
Vocabulary
Standard grammar and mechanics

Ipad (Provided by school)
5. Class Rules
Follow all school rules.
Be prepared for class (English notebook, assignments, paper, and pencils).
Follow the teachers request the FIRST time.
Keep hands, feet, and all objects to yourself at all times.

Be prompt
Be ready to learn when class begins.
Be prepared
Have materials with you and know due dates.
Be a polite and positive participant
Speak in a normal tone of voice, and listen attentively.
Be productive
Turn in work on time, and always do your best.
Be a problem solver
Correct problems quickly and peacefully before they escalate.
7. Daily Routine
Absolutely NO talking
Sharpen pencil upon arrival.
Put belongings away.
Begin working on daily Bell-ringer (6
minutes).
8. Assignments
All assignments must be submitted
by the given due date and are due
at the beginning of the class
period.
All homework is due the next day,
unless stated otherwise
Late Assignments/ Missed Work
Any assignments not received on or
before the due date are considered
late.
It is the student’s responsibility to
check with the teacher regarding
any late/missed assignments and
their due date.
