2. Edicts, regulations, Dictums,
RULES, etc.
There will be a total of five rounds.
The first round will be an Infinite Bounce/Pounce round followed by
a written round, another Bounce/Pounce round, a List-It and the
concluding round will be a connect.
Every team is requested to keep a tally of the scores, in case any
discrepancy arises.
Earnest request to every team: Don’t pounce on your direct
question. It could lead to a suicidal error.
And the golden rule: The quizmaster(s) is/are always right.
Disputees refer to the picture in the next slide.

Four students from the Monsignor Farrell High School, New York
formed the live improv and sketch comedy troupe, The Tenderloins
in 1999. After a long and successful period, which included
winning the $100,000 grand prize in NBC’s “It’s Your Show”
competition for the sketch “Time Thugs”, the group went into
television.
In 2008, the four of them filmed a pilot episode for a scripted
sitcom for Spike TV, but the show did not air. Originally slated
to be called ‘Mission : Uncomfortable’, a show starring and
produced by them went on air on April 12, 2011 under a different
name.

On 13th March, 2017, X, once one of the world’s most wanted criminals
was in court in France, charged with a grenade attack in Paris more
than 40 years ago, which had killed two people and injured several
others. The Venezuelan, whose real name is Ilich Ramirez Sanchez, who
is 67, refused to give his name in court and gave his age as 17,
“give or take 50 years”.
In the 70’s and 80’s, the Marxist militant and self dubbed “elite
gunman” became a symbol of Cold War anti-imperialism and public enemy
number one for western governments. He sealed his notoriety in 1975
with the hostage taking of Opec Oil ministers in Vienna in the name
of the Palestinian struggle, and went on to become an international
gun-for-hire with Soviet Bloc Protectors.
The press gave Sanchez his nickname X, after a reporter saw a copy of
a 1971 thriller novel about a professional assassin who is contracted
by the OAS, to kill Charles de Gaulle. The novel was found at
Sanchez’s London flat and the reporter mistakenly assumed it belonged
to him.
how do we better know Ilich Ramirez Sanchez and what book was found
in his flat?

Apparently in Southeast Asia, there were many people who were
so terrified of their nightmares that they stayed up days on
end. A few people went on to correlate unrelated stories about
men from Southeast Asia who died while sleeping. These men,
afraid of their nightmares, refused to go to sleep and died
after doing so because of the toll not sleeping took on their
body.
While there were obviously a lot of details and imagined
facets of the story that had to be added, it is somewhat
chilling to know that even a portion of the terrifying flick
was based on true events.
Which 1984 classic horror movie starring John Saxon, Amanda
Wyss and Johnny Depp was based on these events?

“My teammates after the game, we looked at each other, they
started to laugh and I do the same. I laughed then and I
laugh now. It was very funny. He was a world class player. I
do my best but I was not a world class player. The players
in my team, they all laugh because they know me – we laughed
together in the changing room because everyone saw what a
player he was. What more could we do? I do not understand
how he did it. It was a fantastic sequence. I thought I was
going to take the ball. I still cannot understand. Now when
I see the video, every time I think I have got the ball.
When he is about to kick the ball I am sure I am going to
take it, but every time he surprises me. I loved everything
about this moment and after that first time, every time he
got the ball, I thought, ”Please don’t do it again”.
Who, and on what?

X is a form of matter called plasma, which is also produced in
stars, high-temperature flame, and by lightning. The electric
field around the object in question causes ionization of the air
molecules, producing a faint glow easily visible in low light
conditions. Conditions that can generate X are present during
thunderstorms, when high voltage differentials are present
between clouds and the ground underneath.
The nitrogen and oxygen present in the atmosphere causes X to
fluoresce with blue or violet light. The phenomenon sometimes
appeared above ships at sea during thunderstorms and was regarded
by sailors with religious awe for its glowing ball of light,
accounting for the name. Sailors may have considered X as a good
omen as a sign of the presence of their patron saint as X is
named after the patron saint of sailors. References to X can be
found in the works of Julius Caesar, Pliny the Elder, and Antonio
Pigafetta’s journal of his voyage with Ferdinand Magellan.
X, which is also the name of a song by John Parr, which was
released in 1985 and was number one on the Billboard charts for
two weeks in September 1985, gained recent recognition because of
its usage in the teaser trailer for the 2018 movie Deadpool 2.

24. 7.
X describes this line Y as a “launchpad line”, i.e, a line
that propels an individual toward greatness. X was inspired to
use this line by Jim Morrison’s chatter between songs on a The
Doors live album.
In Richard Linklater’s coming of age movie, “Dazed and
Confused”, X plays David Wooderson, a dandy. He was given the
part after the director met him at a bar. After going through
the script, X came to realize that his character, Wooderson,
represented four things : cars, hallucinogens, rock n’ roll,
and the company of women.
In a scene in the movie, where X has no concrete script except
that he has to woo a redheaded woman, after seeing that he is
in a Chevrolet Chevelle, has ample supply of hallucinogens, is
listening to Ted Nugent’s ‘Stranglehold’, looks across the
drive-through at the said redheaded woman and tells himself,
“Buddy, you got three out of four. Y!”
Who is X, and what line are we talking about?
27. 8. After his death, the New York Times claimed that Forby Leonard
Skinner was “arguably the most influential gym teacher in
American popular culture”. He was the gym coach at the Robert
E. Lee High School in Jacksonville for many years.
The reason why X named their band after him? Three members of
the band went to the school back in the 1960’s. Skinner had a
lot of rules and one was a “strict policy” against long hair.
He sent one of them to the Principal’s office for having too
long hair, and it became a running joke among the students.
The boys of the band opted to do a “tongue-in-cheek homage”
and named themselves X.
The members of the band changed the letters of the name so as
not to be sued.
The tale of the band naming themselves after him, bothered
Skinner. He once said, “It was against the school rules. I
don’t particularly like long hair on men, but again, it wasn’t
my rule.”

The Sicilian form of this word, when used for men was usually
used as an adjective to describe bravado or boldness. When
used to refer to women, it was usually used in the sense of
attractive or beautiful.
A popular theory of the origin of this word begins as early as
the 9th century. During that period, Sicily was ruled by Arab
forces. Labour laws were non existent and the boss systems
were not immune to corruption. Many times workers were
exploited, never paid, or even given the work they were
promised. The inhabitants were oppressed and were forced to
seek refuge.
The Arabic for this word means “refuge”. The refugees
eventually developed a secret society of unification intended
to create a sense of family, based on Sicilian heritage. The
structure of the organization was built on the idea of family
and had a strong hierarchical make up.
People never uttered the name of the society, preferring only
to call it, or rather them, the “friends of the friends”.

‘Fireball Shooter’. You can’t beat that. Pop a few of those off
and you see people’s jaws drop. It’s great.”, Mr Checkley said in
a YouTube video uploaded by Guinness World Records.
Mr Checkley told the organization that a lot of the tools are
inspired by a particular video game. “These are these classic X
gadgets that you see a lot in the X universe”, Mr Checkley said.
“The way we’ve designed them and made them is very specific to

36. 11. X is a sweet, piquant deep-fried chicken dish that is served
in North American Chinese restaurants. The dish is named after
Zuo Zongtang, a Qing dynasty statesman and military leader.
The recipe was invented by Taiwan-based Hunan cuisine chef
Peng Chang-kuei, who had been an apprentice of Cao Jingchen, a
leading early 20th century Chinese chef. Peng was the
nationalist government’s banquet chef and fled with Kuomintang
forces to Taiwan during the Chinese Civil War. There, he
continued his career as official chef until 1973, when he
moved to New York to open a restaurant.
That was where Peng started inventing new dishes, and
modifying traditional ones. One new dish, X, was originally
prepared without sugar, and was subsequently altered to suit
the tastes of “non-Huanese people”.

The boat was built in 1911 for impresario Fred Karno who
wanted to have the best houseboat on the river to become
permanently moored alongside his hotel, the Karsino, at Tagg’s
Island. He designed it so that there could be an entire 90-
piece orchestra playing on deck.
X bought the boat after seeing it advertised for sale in a
copy of Country Life magazine in his dentist’s waiting room,
just a short while after admiring it while being driven past
its moorings. It is presently moored on the River Thames at
Hampton, Greater London.
Parts of each of the last three X’s band’s studio albums, were
recorded on the boat, as were parts of X’s solo album, On An
Island (2006). The boat also shares its name with a luxury
hotel in Manhattan, New York (picture in next slide).
Who is the owner of the boat and what is the boat called?

“In the 90th minute, Ryan was standing over the ball, and all
I remember was him bending in into the box, Rio rising up and
hitting the back of the net. The place exploded. The rest was
just instinct.
I turned towards the X fans in the far corner of the ground
and I thought, I’m going for them.
I sprinted some 60-odd yards, and I was just out of my head.
When I got to them, well… I looked at the faces of all those X
fans who had been singing for 89 minutes, constantly hurling
abuses at me and my mom, and in that moment, they had no
answer. Absolutely no answer. It was one of the best feelings
of my life. The FA fined me ₤5000 for my actions. I would
gladly pay it again a hundred times. Back then, I remember
some very serious people saying things like: ‘that’s not the
behavior of a thirty year old man.’ They were right and that’s
what makes football so magical. For 90 minutes you get to be a
kid again. That’s what we all dreamed about, isn’t it?”

Famous author, Dave Thompson in his book X says that
the formation of the band formed by Johnny Rotten,
Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock, the release
of the album ‘Horses’ by Patti Smith and the release
of the album ‘Metal Machine Music’ by Lou Reed are the
three key events that led to the inception of X.
X is a genre of music which emerged from the
independence underground music of the ‘80s and became
wildly popular in the ‘90s and early ‘00s.
X blends the elements from various genres of music,
such as rock, punk and even folk music.

possible answers to that. For example, if we ask you to list
all the games of the grand theft auto franchise, you need to
list all of the games.
Write down the answers on the piece of paper that has been
provided. 10 for every correct answer, and an extra 20 for
full house. Hence, 70 points up for grabs. No negative
marking, so guess away.

The initials T.C.B. stand for a phrase which Elvis Presley
incorporated as his mantra and also his entourage’s mantra which
was initially called the Memphis Mafia. He incorporated the
letters into an emblem flanked by lightning bolts, which meant TCB
in a flash. This emblem was used in several pieces of jewellery
including his famous T.C.B. necklace and ring.
Elvis Presley returned to live performing in 1969 after a decade
spent mostly making movies. His return came during the ‘68
Comeback Special, when Elvis returned to his cool roots, with
black leather jacket, black shades and all. Along with back-up
singers and other show members, the large backing band that would
follow Elvis on his 1970’s string of tours, including stints in
Las Vegas, came to be known as the T.C.B. Band.
The T.C.B. logo is even painted on the Lisa Marie airplane that is
parked at Graceland even today (picture next slide).

Originally, Dr Myron MacLain was hoping the alloy would provide a
distinct advantage in the armour of American war machines, during World
War II. The doctor worked tirelessly, using an exotic metal which could
absorb sound waves, vibration and kinetic energy, which in turn, would
make the metal stronger and an unknown substance. While the doctor was
asleep, an unknown factor caused the metals he was working with to bond.
The alloy was poured into the shape of a discus. Some sources say that
Dr. MacLain chose the discus shape because of its versatility, while
other say that he used an existing cast designed for tank hatches.
Presumably, the titanium steel bolts used to fasten straps to the disc
were also forged at this time. It was painted in its familiar red-white-
and-blue pattern using titanium oxide paint. Later, the object was
presented to X by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
The object has great aerodynamic properties. it is able to slice through
the air with minimal wind resistance and deflection of path. Its great
overall resilience, combined with its natural concentric stiffness,
enables it to rebound from objects with minimal loss of angular
momentum. It is virtually indestructible: it is resistant to
penetration, temperature extremes, and the entire electromagnetic
spectrum of radiation. The only way it can be damaged in any way is by
tampering with its molecular bonding.

rights of the plebians. A tribune could overrule a magistrate or an

reason.

The X shape is what is known in mathematics / calculus as a
hyperbolic paraboloid. The saddle shape allowed for easier stacking
of X. This also minimized the possibility of broken X during
transport. Since it is a saddle, there is no predictable way to break
it up. This increases the crunchy feeling and hence that weird
satisfaction. It is relatively more feasible to manufacture the press
block compared to other shapes. The concave U-shaped part is
stretched in tension while the convex arch-shaped part is squeezed in
compression. Through double curvature, this shape strikes a delicate
balance between these push and pull forces, allowing it to remain
thin yet surprisingly strong.

114. 12. As early as 1902, Americans were being warned about the damages of unwanted
human caused forest fires, but no formal campaign aimed at prevention
existed. Then in 1939 a poster entitled "Your Forest-Your Fault" featured a
Forest Ranger in the image of Uncle Sam pointing to a raging forest fire.
During the years of 1936-1941 a total of 210,000 forest fires burned over 30
million acres of forest and range land. Nine out of ten were human caused.
In 1944 the Wartime Advertising Council decided to use an animal to carry the
fire prevention message. Walt Disney agreed to lend the image of Bambi, for a
year, to be the first to carry the message. On August 9, 1944 a bear was
chosen to be the spokesman for forest fire prevention. The bear was named X
after a well-known Assistant Fire Chief named X Joe Martin.
On 9th May, 1950, a 5 lb. black bear cub was found after a forest fire in the
Capitan Mountains near Capitan, New Mexico. Named X after the poster bear,
the cub was later sent to the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. to become the
"living symbol" for fire prevention. By 1952, Congress passed and President
Eisenhower signed into law the X Bear Act, public law 359.
By 1964 X's fan mail was so great that he was given his own zip code, 20252.
The only other celebrity to have this honor is the President of the United
States.

117. 13.The rise of X in pop culture has given credence to the idea that a XY could happen. In such a scenario X would
take over entire countries, roaming city streets eating anything living that got in their way. The
proliferation of this idea has led many people to wonder “How do I prepare for a xy?”
Below are a few items you should include in your kit to survive an XY:
Water
Food
Medications
Tools and Supplies
To come up with a viable option for survival, you need to implement an emergency plan. To do that you have to:
Pick a meeting place for your family to regroup in case X invade your home or your town evacuates because
of a hurricane.
Identify your emergency contacts. Make a list of local contacts like the police, fire department, and your
local X response team. Also identify an out-of-state contact that you can call during an emergency to let
the rest of your family know you are ok.
Plan your evacuation route. When X are hungry they won’t stop until they get food, which means you need to
get out of town fast!
If X did start roaming the streets, CDC (Centre for disease control) would conduct an investigation much like
any other disease outbreak. It’s likely that an investigation of this scenario would seek to accomplish
several goals: determine the cause of the illness, the source of the infection/virus/toxin, learn how it is
transmitted and how readily it is spread, how to break the cycle of transmission and thus prevent further
cases, and how patients can best be treated. Not only would scientists be working to identify the cause and
cure of the X outbreak, but CDC and other federal agencies would send medical teams and first responders to
help those in affected areas.

X is a film genre in which songs sung by the characters are interwoven into the
narrative. The songs usually advance the plot or develop the film's characters,
though in some cases they serve merely as breaks in the storyline, often as

that would be impractical in a theatre.
In the 1960s, the success of the films West Side Story, The Music Man, My Fair
