Rarely is there a process where the value –added
content is greater than 10%. Typically the non-value
added content is arount 95%
Lean attacks the 95% non-value-added and reduces
its impact
Reducing the 95% to 90% has the following impact:
§ Doubles output / throughput / capacity
§ Does not increase in actual value-added work per
unit produced
