ATSICHS Brisbane is one of the oldest and largest Indigenous community organisations, delivering quality and appropriate health and social support services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of Australia. It wanted a more comprehensive, overarching profile of its employees so it could better measure and plan for workforce improvements. However, its legacy HR system lacked a structured approach to assessing people’s capabilities, preventing it from properly investing in and supporting not only career development but also strategic learning programs to further uplift the capability of its workforce.

SUCCESS TAKES TEAMWORKBecause ATSICHS Brisbane is a unique organisation that serves a unique demographic, any solution would have to be sensitive to and understanding of the organisation’s values and mission. Working together Accenture and ATSICHS built a fit-for-purpose competency framework that would determine capabilities of successful performers, inform the assessment of the current state of its workforce and reveal areas for improvement. The key to success was involving everyone in the process.
  5. 5. 5 A REMARKABLE JOURNEY Embracing change was the biggest challenge.   7. 7. 7 A UNIQUE APPROACH We worked very closely with the HR director and senior executive team to ensure outcome quality and client satisfaction. We brought our global experience local and leveraged the knowledge of medical practitioners to validate our solution. We did extensive research into ATSICHS Brisbane business values and operations and engaged with health care sector SMEs. COLLABORATION
  8. 8. 8 A UNIQUE APPROACH We challenged the status quo by breaking down barriers and helping ATSICHS Brisbane move away from the philosophy “qualifications equal confidence.” We held design thinking workshops to drive internal change, challenging the views of internal employees and helping to make the organisation more adaptive and flexible. We acknowledged that ATSICHS Brisbane required a framework that was unique and specific to its value and mission to truly be effective. INNOVATION
  9. 9. 9 A UNIQUE APPROACH We effectively engaged with stakeholders and promoted buy-in from all areas of the organisation. Client inputs were used at every stage of the project to customise deliverables and exceed desired outcomes. The solution and processes were simplified to promote acceptance and adoption within the organisation. We focused on the organisation’s core objectives and always referred to it when plans changed or unexpected outcomes arose. VALUE
