2. The average lifespan of a wind
turbine is between ten and twenty
years and the average
decommissioning cost is
approximately $200,000. Utility
companies typically carry these
liabilities on their balance sheets and
in some states must purchase bonds
to guarantee their eventual removal.
Boreas immediately assumes these
liabilities from utilities allowing them
to be removed from their balance
sheets. We agree to recycle the
turbines in the future in the most
ecologically friendly way possible -
typically saving the utility at least 50%
of the average turbine removal cost.

4. Utilities allocate an average cost of $200,000 to
decommission each of their wind turbines. There are
57,000 wind turbines in the United States with a
combined removal liability of $11 billion.
At scale, Boreas can decommission the average wind
turbine for $60,000. We can then generate
approximately $55,000 from the sale of recycled
materials ($45K for metals and $10K for aggregate).
Each wind turbine will ultimately cost Boreas +/- $5,000
to decommission.
Boreas charges a utility an average price of $100,000
per wind turbine plus the option to request a $60,000
secured letter of credit provided for a period of six
months from the commencement of removal.
