PLUS: Goniometry - Week 3 – in-class formative assessment
Goniometry – Week 3
Description:
 During class time, students will demonstrate that they can measure
range of motion of one joint of another student using a goniometer. The
joint to be measured will be randomly assigned from a pool of five
possible alternatives.
Assessment Criteria:
 Students will be assessed on their communication with the “client”,
their ability to accurately measure range of motion, and their
understanding of the results in the context of occupational
performance.
OCC212 University of the Sunshine Coast
Weekly Quizzes – Weeks 2-11
Description:
 This is designed to demonstrate your foundation knowledge of neuroscience and
occupational therapy evaluation.
 After completing an online learning activity (as part of the weekly online learning
materials) you will complete one quiz per week from week 2 to week 11 inclusive.
Assessment Criteria:
 Each quiz will assess your ability to apply information from the online lecture material
and learning activities.
 Each quiz will close at midnight on each Monday between weeks 2-11 (e.g. Topic 2 quiz
will close at 9:00pm on Monday of week 2).
 You will have 30 minutes to complete the quiz from the time you start.
OCC212 University of the Sunshine Coast
Video Analysis Exam – Week 7
Description:
 You will view recorded footage of a person engaging in a series of linked occupations.
While viewing the client performing the occupations you will record your observations
about characteristics and quality of the performance that appear to be impacted by
physical, cognitive and sensory impairments. You will record your observations on a
template provided.
Assessment Criteria:
 Identify client performance characteristics
 Identify barriers to occupational performance
 Identify issues with performance components that might be creating barriers
 Consider the physical, cognitive and psychosocial factors underpinning performance
 Extrapolate occupational performance barriers to activities of daily living (e.g.
supermarket shopping)
OCC212 University of the Sunshine Coast
Description:
 Students will review the psychometric properties, strengths and weaknesses and
applications of a standardised assessment tool used in occupational therapy practice.
 Oral presentation of findings and production of a summary hand-out for peers of no more than
1200 words
 In a group of between 2 and 4 people you will present an overview of an assessment tool that
outlines purpose of the assessment tool, the psychometric properties, strengths and weaknesses
and applications of the tool in occupational therapy practice.
 Group task, you will be allocated an assessment tool to review, audience is a group of second year
occupational therapy students, 1200 words, APA format. Twenty minute presentation followed by 5-
10 minute Q&A period.

  • 9. Goniometry – Week 3 Description:  During class time, students will demonstrate that they can measure range of motion of one joint of another student using a goniometer. The joint to be measured will be randomly assigned from a pool of five possible alternatives. Assessment Criteria:  Students will be assessed on their communication with the “client”, their ability to accurately measure range of motion, and their understanding of the results in the context of occupational performance. OCC212 University of the Sunshine Coast
  • 10. Weekly Quizzes – Weeks 2-11 Description:  This is designed to demonstrate your foundation knowledge of neuroscience and occupational therapy evaluation.  After completing an online learning activity (as part of the weekly online learning materials) you will complete one quiz per week from week 2 to week 11 inclusive. Assessment Criteria:  Each quiz will assess your ability to apply information from the online lecture material and learning activities.  Each quiz will close at midnight on each Monday between weeks 2-11 (e.g. Topic 2 quiz will close at 9:00pm on Monday of week 2).  You will have 30 minutes to complete the quiz from the time you start. OCC212 University of the Sunshine Coast
  • 11. Video Analysis Exam – Week 7 Description:  You will view recorded footage of a person engaging in a series of linked occupations. While viewing the client performing the occupations you will record your observations about characteristics and quality of the performance that appear to be impacted by physical, cognitive and sensory impairments. You will record your observations on a template provided. Assessment Criteria:  Identify client performance characteristics  Identify barriers to occupational performance  Identify issues with performance components that might be creating barriers  Consider the physical, cognitive and psychosocial factors underpinning performance  Extrapolate occupational performance barriers to activities of daily living (e.g. supermarket shopping) OCC212 University of the Sunshine Coast
  • 12. Description:  Students will review the psychometric properties, strengths and weaknesses and applications of a standardised assessment tool used in occupational therapy practice.  Oral presentation of findings and production of a summary hand-out for peers of no more than 1200 words  In a group of between 2 and 4 people you will present an overview of an assessment tool that outlines purpose of the assessment tool, the psychometric properties, strengths and weaknesses and applications of the tool in occupational therapy practice.  Group task, you will be allocated an assessment tool to review, audience is a group of second year occupational therapy students, 1200 words, APA format. Twenty minute presentation followed by 5- 10 minute Q&A period. OCC212 University of the Sunshine Coast Assessment Review & In-class Presentation – Week 12 (all submit by Monday)
