Introduction Over the past several decades, the forces of rapid economic and technological change,
the influx of women and minorities into the workforce, the economic shift to a post industrial, global
economy and an investment market emphasis on short–term profits combined to reshape
organizations. Major components of the change included organizational restructuring, the erosion of
employee trust, increasingly greater workforce diversity and the emergence of work teams as drivers
of firm performance. Concurrently, many women in organizations, mostly confined to the lower and
middle management levels and in the majority of firms denied any opportunity to move

The Outsiders
The Outsiders WebQuest During this term, we will be reading the novel, The Outsiders. In order to
fully understand the context of the story, it is important that you have a clear understanding of the
time period. In some ways many things haven't changed since the 1960s (i.e. gangs, friendship, etc.).
However, in other ways, there have been major transformations. Therefore, you will research certain
topics in order to gain a fuller understanding of the setting and social contexts of the novel. You will
complete the following tasks: – Research a given topic – Prepare a presentation about the topic by
including pictures, facts, sound clips, etc. (poster and/or PowerPoint presentation) – Give an oral
presentation to the class about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
YES NO IT'S ALL ABOUT ME, MYSELF AND I In the novel, The Outsiders, Ponyboy expresses
his feelings in a very poetic way. By doing this, Ponyboy is able to show the reader his true identity:
an identity that completely contradicts the stereotype of what society deems to be a greaser. Your
goal is to write a poem to express your own identity to show the reader that you are more than a
student in a uniform. You will use the templates below to help you express yourself on paper. This
will then go into your identity box. I Am I am (two special characteristics) I wonder (something you
are actually curious about) I hear (an imaginary sound) I see (an imaginary sight) I want (an actual
desire) I am (the first line of the poem restated) I pretend (something you actually pretend to do) I
feel (a feeling about something imaginary) I touch (an imaginary touch) I worry (something that
really bothers you) I cry (something that makes you very sad) I am (the first line of the poem

Crooks Concert Review Essay
When you see a band live, you arrive with a certain level of expectation. Live music is about
atmosphere, energy and a certain sense of intimacy that comes with seeing a band or artist recreate
their art for you on stage. If your expectations are met, you leave not only happy, but with a deeper
connection with the band thereafter. I had Crooks at a disadvantage before this show as my
expectations had been simmering ever since their debut EP Nevermore captivated me back in 2012.
Despite this internal pressure, it took only the first minute of the evening's opening track to realise
that my expectations were about to boil over.
Crooks are a five–piece act from Cheltenham in the UK, playing a fast, energetic brand of post–
hardcore accentuated by regular tempo–changes, melodic vocals and intricate guitar work. It's a
formula that has recently earned them a record deal with Headphone Music, an indent of Equal
Vision Records, who will be releasing the band's debut full–length album later this year. It's also a
formula that leaves a lasting impression in a live setting. The drums hit you first; heavy hitting, fast
and frenetic but played with absolute precision, setting the momentum for the whole set with
constant rhythmic inertia. The guitar work is tight and intricate during the softer moments, yet
angular and biting when the aggression is needed, providing the ... Show more content on

This level of passion is often conjured as part of a stage performance, but it's clear that for Crooks
this is no act. Far from being awkward, his presence is an expression of the emotion in each song.
Seeing Rogers live every note that he sings is captivating and infectious and that emotion transcends
the stage to flow through the audience as

How Did Holst Contribute To Music
The English composer, Gustav Theodore Holst, was one of the most important people with great
contributions to English music. He was born on 21 September 1874 in Cheltenham, England.Inspired
the love for music from his musician father, Adolph von Holst, Gustav began playing musical
instruments at a very young age.He played both the piano and the violin. However, he was not as
interested in playing violin as playing the piano although he was troubled with neuritis.Gustav also
took up the trombone due to his father's suggestion when he turned twelve.Having such a great
talent and an inspiration for music but Gustav's childhood was not really full of happiness. His mom

Discussing the Teaching and Learning Strategies
Teaching and learning strategies used in an actual session and to be delivered during professional
practice.
The strategies to be used will depend on several different components, e.g. the ability, knowledge
and background of learners, the subject, differing learning styles etc.
John Dewey (1859–1952) believed that formal schooling was falling short of its potential. He
emphasised facilitating learning through promoting various activities rather than by using a
traditional teacher–focused method. He believed that children learnt more from guided experience
than from authoritarian instruction. He subscribed to learner–focused philosophy and argued that
learning is life, not just preparation for life. This is also applicable to adult ... Show more content on

As can be seen in my first observed session (Appendix .....) at HOL I chose to use different learning
strategies and styles to my peer teach session. Mainly due to the different audience and time scale
too. Baring in mind the feedbacks I have received for the peer teach, I wanted to include some of the
things mentioned and therefore creating a all around better lesson, one in particular including
students through more nominated questions. Unfortunately I got drawn into the more active students
answering questions straight away and demanding my attention. This made it more difficult for me
to include the quieter students. I believe towards the end of the lesson my efforts started to work and
the quieter students started to join in too. Due to this experience I was very surprised on the student
feedback I have received. (Appendix.....) All students commented on the involvement they
experienced. 'Getting up and doing was the best'. This was a very valuable experience and will assist
for my future studies and teaching.
Prior to the delivering of the session 'Planning and Negotiating' learning is key. 'If you don't know
where you are going it is difficult to select a suitable means for getting there'. Mager (1984)
Each of our students at HOL will have an initial interview where certain key issues and needs will
be established.

The Neo Classical Model Of Economics
MONETARISM The 1930's saw the neo–classical model of economics, championed by Walras and
Mengers, crumble as rates of unemployment rose exponentially on a global scale. In the midst of
this economic crisis Keynes offered solution to the crisis in his 1936 'General theory of
Employment, Interests and Money'. He successfully argued that the state was alone capable of
steering the economy to produce 'social stability and social justice' (Valentine, 2003) Thus the post–
war consensus was formed and consequentially the centre ground of politics redefined,
Keynesianism socialist model would hold sway for the quarter century following World War II. The
decade of the 1970s was characterized by high and rising inflation and slow economic growth
(Jahan and Papageorgiou, 2014). Keynesianism couldn't answer the soaring inflation, Hayek, who
warned Keynesianism was a 'road to serfdom' (The Economist, 2013) and Friedman's 'neoliberal'
model could and Thatcher recognised this. The essential economic task of Thatcher was the
desertion of Keynesian 'macro–economics' (Valentine, 2013). The result was an adoption of
Monetarism, 'a belief in controlling the money supply as a means of controlling inflation' (Viven,
2003). The 1970's economy was corroded to the breaking point due to the clout of the unions.
Edward Heaths Conservative government was plagued by continuous strikes that led to the
declaration of the three–day working week. Inflation was rising as high as 24%, with one million

An Example Of Humorous Wedding Speech
Hello. Just some warnings before you read this. Please don't expect any fancy words, and mind
blowing quotes, or anything special from me, other than myself. In this speech I am not trying to
show you that I am superior to all my peers and you should pick me because I know how everything
should be. Because that's not true. In fact, I'm not even sure if I'll win this election. BUt man, I'll be
bummed out if I don't. I've wanted this since the summer. Not because I get to plan and oversee all
the activities that happen – but I do like that part. Not because I bunch of people might vote for me –
but I sure do love good ol' validation. But The reason I want this so badly is for you guys. Since the
summer, I've been making a list of complaints that my friends have had, that people who aren't my

somehow find some way to directly talk to our school administration about this, because I don't
know about you, but I don't want to go to a school that people call a prison. And it shouldn't be that
way, and it wasn't always like that. But to do that, I need your help. Because I said earlier, I am not
some higher being. Sometimes I wish I was though. I am just like you listening to me (or reading
this). I hate gym, and I absolutely hate walking in the hallways. All I want is to help lead our school
in the right direction, because every year we seem to be taking a step

University of Gloucestershire students, Brooke Grasso and Ben Anderson, let us into their beliefs on
Britain's pride in greater social acceptance and how the US Presidential Election was portrayed in
England during their time in Cheltenham. Aside from learning how to play Beer Pong and making

attitudes which we see call home. "I learned how to be more accepting of people who are different

to. I feel that all Americans should have this experience abroad so that they can see white people

each generation. Brooke said, "I thought it was interesting to see the similarities in our countries.

The Quick Guide to Horse Racing
Horse Racing is one of the oldest sports of all time, and simply requires you to identify which horse
is going to perform better than the others. In UK horse racing has been around since Roman times,
and it shows no signs of slowing in the 21st Century.
There are many different formats to horse racing, be it the track surfaces, breed of horses, number of
horses running, or layout of the course, be it jumps or flat.
Some of the most iconic racecourses in the world are in England, including Newmarket, Ascot and

Towards the end of the 20th Century, and in the last 15 years, Online Betting has really thrived. You

Time value of the money is based on the concept that the value of the money increases over time,
e.g. £1 earned or spent sooner is worth more than £1 earned or spent later. There are many reasons
for this rise in worth of present value of £1 in the future. * Uncertainty
The business world is considered full of risk and uncertainty. It is believed that in practise the
business get promise of cash in future, it can never be certain until it is actually received. * Inflation
Inflation is the decline in purchasing power of the monetary unit. It is a common sense that money's
worth changes over time due to inflation. If there is an element of inflation then it is necessary to
adjust the values by the given rates for inflation. Inflation is not considered important in the decision
making process when it is low but it is important to include the factor when it rises let say 10 %.

Playing A Flat Cheltenham Where Roast Chicken And Garlic...
Inside a flat Cheltenham where roast chicken and garlic wafts through the air like a new eau de

currently being used in reference to education in Australian school environments (Victoria State

community supporting service clubs and business, but also from involved parents. The following

Josephine Butler : Patron Of Prostitutions Essay
Josephine Butler: Patron of Prostitutions
Josephine Butler was born on the 13th of April in 1828 in Milfield Hill Northumberland, and she
was the seventh child of John Grey and his wife, Hannah Annett. Born during the Victorian era, she
was a revolutionary activist and a leader of a National Women's Political campaign. Inspired by her
father, who was a leading liberal and agricultural reform in the English border country, Josephine
became aware of the terror of slavery and mistreatment of women, which sparked her care for the
imprisoned and ill prostitutes. During the time, women were not allowed to vote, but Josephine
managed to repeal the Contagious Disease Act, which was an act strongly supported by the public.
This act was passed as a rationale to protect military men from getting sexually transmitted diseases
from prostitutions, but allowed the latter to be sexually assaulted by police officers as they checked
them for venereal disease. By repealing the act, Josephine Butler highlighted the great injustice that
prostitutions faced. Moreover, she also campaigned for higher education for women, and sought
equal suffrages. Nevertheless, she never became the national heroine of her time as compared to
Florence Nightingale, and her accomplishments were much undermined. This essay narrates the
exciting and complex journey of Josephine Butler, the influences she received throughout her life, as
she struggled through her campaign that made her the historical heroine of today.

Swimmy By Munroe Leaf Summary
The first fiction book I choose to analyze is The Story of Ferdinand, by Munroe Leaf. This story is
about a gentle bull who was different than the other young bulls. When he grows up, men take him
away to fight, Ferdinand refuses. Ferdinand shows examples of stereotyping in that most bulls want
to run around, aggressive, and like to fight. This book allows children to see that not everyone fits
into a stereotype, however, that is ok. Ferdinand's mom thought something was wrong with him
because he didn't want to be like the others. She accepted him, however, as she saw that he was
happy. This story shows us to not just to conclusions if someone is different than the "norm". It
shows that a parent or any adult should accept a child for who ... Show more content on

Kelly. This book is wonderful to help show children how different families can be. It shows how
some families are big, some are small, some look alike, some don't, some are born to them, and
some adopt. The book also goes into how some families have one parent, some have a mom and a
dad, and some have two moms or two dads. It also shows how some families have extended family
members that live with them and some families don't live in the same house together. This book is
full of diversity, there are lots of cultural backgrounds represented. The authors do a good job of
showing how families care and love each other no matter what members make up a family. This
book helps support early literacy because of all these reasons. It also has nice big color pictures and
words that are big enough for the children to see. With all the different types of families that we see
in our classrooms, this is a must have on the shelf! I love the comment by the author at the end of
the book. "Recently, research psychologist have found that children who developed a strong family
narrative from speaking with their parents about family history and hearing family stories, both
good and bad, exhibited greater self–esteem and a feeling of control over their lives" (Kelly,

Current Macroeconomic Situation in the US
Running Head: Current Macroeconomic Situation in U.S
Current Macroeconomic Situation in U.S The economy US is going through huge crisis these days.
The evidences are its striking economic situation that is growing adverse day by day. By the end of
March 2012, the unemployment rate of US had preceded by 8.2%. Although the GDP growth,
income and consumption are not adverse until, the date but they are still below the trend rates that
are not showing a positive response towards the future economic situation of the country. The
estimated GDP growth is 2% for the year 2012 and 2013 (El–Agraa, 2011).
The story does not end here, the real problem is the trade deficit and US debts that are destroying the
economy and future plans of the people regarding the investments. The country is facing twin debts
at a time; the national debt taken from the natives, and the debt from the other nations that has also
to be return eventually. The remaining problem covers the trade deficit that has no chances of
recovery in the near future (El–Agraa, 2011).
The good aspect is that the economists are trying to overcome the recession and according to
Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), the real gross domestic product will grow by the end of
this year at about 3.5%. GDP has also increased its value in the past three quarters continuously (El–
Agraa, 2011) making annual GDP growth rate 3.6%. The consumer price index was at 230 in April
2012 and the inflation rate for the current year is 2.3%

Performance Of Islamic Mutual Funds
This particular section provides an overall comparison of performance of Islamic Mutual Funds,
which is important to consider empirically especially taking into consideration the fact that the
Islamic indexes provide different estimations for the performance of these mutual funds, particularly
during bullish and bearish periods. What is more important, the results of the current section appear
to be the same compared to the related studies devoting themselves to considering the
aforementioned question. Practical evidence tends to prove that the Islamic mutual funds generally
display continuous and sustainable under–performance once they are assessed from the perspective
of Islamic and traditional financial indexes. Still, it is worth ... Show more content on

Still, a number of studies has been showing that there was no relevant and significant difference
between the performance of these funds in terms of both conventional and Islamic systems of
evaluation (Girard and Hassan, 2005). In particular, the famous and important Dow Jones Islamic
Indices (DJIS) reported significant outperformance during the period of 1996–2000, still showing
underperformance during the next 5 years once estimated in contrast to their traditional counterparts.
What is necessary to state in this perspective, regardless of the type of indices and systems of
evaluation, both of them show similar diversification and reward–to–risk traits, characteristics and
benefits. Further, considering the difference between the ethical and non–ethical funds, the
researchers tend to state that there is no difference between them, especially from the perspective of
the performance estimations utilized (Kreander et al., 2005). In addition, even less evidence is
reported regarding considerable difference between ethical and conventional funds in risk–adjusted
returns during the 1990–2001 period. Considering the time–variation in betas, it is worth stating that
their introduction results in considerable underperformance of the local American investment funds
and similarly high outperformance of the British ethical funds compared to their traditional

Argumentative Essay-Horse Racing Should Be Banned
Horse racing should be Banned
Horse racing, you know it as fun and entertaining as the thoroughbred crosses the finish line, But
what is the truth behind this awful sport? Horse racing should be banned because horses are not
treated humanely and can be seriously injured and even die.
Horses of the racetrack are not treated humanely. According to Anne of peta Uk "horses are often
drugged to mask their pain and keep them running, when they should be resting or getting
treatment." because they are in so much pain they don't want the people to know as they abuse these
poor animals. Along with the cruelty Joe drape said horses are shocked during their training "It's
called a buzzer,it's a device about the size of a lighter that conducts an electrical current and shocks
the racehorse into running faster." Joe explained. Although I have never seen a race horse get

Ever saw a WWE fight at school? Well there sure was one like it at Cheltenham High School. Four
girls had a fight and it injured about 7 teachers, three officers, and made the four girls arrested. The
District's school is deciding to make an alternative school. I agree with the idea because it will give
the people who pay the taxes at the school's area it's worth, children in the school will be given
better safety, and the town will have better reviews to the school or area.
Let's start with how people will get their actual worth in tax on schools. When paying for taxes some
of it is given to the school district. About 6,312 dollars are needed in tax for the school district. That
is about fifty percent of the entire tax pay needed in Cheltenham taxes on average. Comparing this
information to what happened earlier in Cheltenham high school on May 3,2017 it seems very
unreasonable for the people who pay taxes and fifty percent of it is given to the school district when
it gives injury to some of the students and doesn't give what most people want when giving tax pay

schools out there, also knowing that three officers, and seven teachers were injured too on that day is
unbelievable. Valerie Melecio, a senior from the school had even talked about how dangerous her

In "The Collective Wisdom", Herbert Spencer passionately refutes several of the House of
Commons' reasons to oppose the Cheltenham Water Bill. Spencer makes clear points concerning the
logical fallacies that the House of Commons based their decision on. This fully convinced the
audience of the logic behind his position. Spencer first points out the logical fallacies in the Times
paragraph. This paragraph stated, "such a measure, if carried out, will diminish the water of that
noble river a million gallons per day." At first glance, this is quite an alarming statement to the
public and the members of the House of Commons. However, Spencer clarifies this statement
through a comparison. He states that, "The simple fact is that the current of the Thames, above the

It was stated in the House of Commons that, "the proportion of sewage to pure water would be
seriously increased" if surrounding towns were allowed to tap into the springs. Spencer clarifies this
claim through his use of an additional logical comparison. Spencer states, "Taking a minute out of
twelve hours would be taking as large a proportion as the Cheltenham people with to take from the
Thames." This time comparison puts the lack of a problem into perspective. Moreover, Spencer is
able to look at the situation with a logical view instead of only stating direct facts. A further error
pointed out and corrected by Spencer is this quote from the House of Commons, stating that to let
the Cheltenham have this quantity would be "to rob the towns along the banks of the Thames of
their rights." Spencer is able to refute this assertion by pointing out that 999 parts of the Thames out
of 1,000 pass by unused. Therefore, it is clear that the proportion of sewage in the Thames is
minuscule. Finally, Spencer is able to display that the report falsely exhibits

Examine the Different Methods for Giving Constructive...
Unit 9: Mini–essay: Examine the different methods for giving constructive (practical) feedback to
learners and discuss how these can motivate learners. Giving constructive feedback is crucial;
without it learners cannot learn (Rogers, 2004). When used to emphasise progress rather than
failure, it motivates learners, building confidence and enabling them to recognise mistakes as part of
a process that brings them closer to their learning goals. It can help both teacher and student to
identify further learning opportunities or action to be taken. Feedback can be formal, such as after
marking an assignment or observing practice, or given informally during a lesson (Gravells, 2012.)
It can also be written or verbal. Written feedback ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This boosts morale by giving the student ownership of the solution. It also develops a student's
ability to carry out future self assessment and encourages reflection. Lastly, it allows the teacher to
gauge how much the student has understood. This helps when setting future goals that are
challenging but achievable – crucial to engagement. Focusing on only two or three key points during
feedback means students are not overwhelmed by any critical comments, preventing them from
becoming dispirited (Avis, Fisher and Thompson, 2010). There is also a limit to how much new
information a learner can grasp at once. Praising what the student has done well, outlining areas that
need further development and then ending on another positive note will motivate the student and
help prevent them focusing on any aspect they may perceive as negative. Petty (2009) says this
makes feedback sound more like advice and less like criticism. For oral feedback to be constructive,
it must be clear, jargon free, factual and provide reasons for any success or failure so that students
can act upon any areas that require improvement. This is supported by research conducted by
Weeden, Winter and Broadfoot (2000 cited in Avis, Fisher and Thompson, 2010, p.172) involving
200 learners, aged from eight to 19. The study found that simple comments, ticks or evaluative
comments such as "good work", while welcomed by

The Life and Music of Gustav Holst Essay
The Life and Music of Gustav Holst
Gustav Holst, born in Cheltenham in September 1847, is still today considered to be one of the
greatest music composers of all time. He was not very fond of music when he was younger, but he
enjoyed the piano. He was sent to Cheltenham Grammar School and forced to take long music
lessons, even though he had neuritis in his hands.
His first job was an organist and Choirmaster at the Choral Society, Bourbon on the Water.
Impressed at his good ear for music, his father borrowed some money to send him to the Royal
College of Music, which he had previously failed to enter.
As he got older, the neuritis in his hands got worse, and it was almost impossible for him to play the
piano, so he took up the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After many refusals of his works, Holst became rather unwell, so took him to Algeria for a holiday.
The warm climate and bright colours of Algeria inspired Holst, so he decided to start working on a
new piece called Beni Mora, but it was not a great success.
In 1912, his performance of The Cloud Messenger was a hit, so he went to Spain for a holiday to
celebrate. While there, he met Clifford Bax, who encouraged him to write a movement called The
Planets. It was very successful.
In 1923, Holst was conducting a rehearsal at University College, when he slipped and fell off the
platform onto his head. The damage was deadly, and it was years before he recovered from the
effects.
Later on, after a trip to America, Holst received great congratulations for his performance of the
Planets, and an anonymous rich man gave him several hundred pounds to spend on his music. But,
Holst was beginning to have bad effects of the concussion he was in earlier, and he couldn't bear to
have anything touch the back of his head. He spent many nights in agony, so his doctor suggested
that he moved away from London.
So that is exactly what he did. He bought a small house in Thaxtead and lived there for nearly a
year, but much of his music was failing.
In 1926, Holst was working in Dorset. He wrote a piece called Egdon Health dedicated to Thomas
Hardy, and he knew it was the best thing he had

How Useful Are Copywriter Rates?
As a prospective copywriting client, copywriter day rates are probably one of the first things you'll
think about. As well as giving you an indication of likely costs (or not, because copywriter rates
actually give very little idea of how much a job will cost), copywriter rates can be a good indicator
of a copywriter's quality. This is particularly true when you consider published copywriter day rates
alongside a writer's portfolio and experience. Location too is important: a copywriter in, say
Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, will probably have lower overheads and be able to offer more
attractive day rates than a similarly experienced wordsmith in the Home Counties. Similarly, a good
'one man band' probably has lower overheads than a multi–person copywriting agency, while
bringing equally good (or better) skills and experience. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many copywriters publish a guideline day rate on their website. Some even contain menus for
different projects. Menus are fine when you are buying pizza or your daily latte. However, though
menu pricing appears attractive at first, it may not be as advantageous as you think when choosing
your copywriting partner. This is because more projects are different than are similar... In practice,
once they have clearly understood the scope of the work required, many freelance writers prefer to
give a fixed price project fee based on their given copywriting day rate. This is good for you, the
client, because you can budget their copywriting more accurately. Provided you don't change the

Dicky attempts to convince Snoop that he could still thrive in the industry through his quick witted

Gustav Holst Gustav Holst was a famous 20th century composer. He composed a number of works

  • 17. Crooks Concert Review Essay When you see a band live, you arrive with a certain level of expectation. Live music is about atmosphere, energy and a certain sense of intimacy that comes with seeing a band or artist recreate their art for you on stage. If your expectations are met, you leave not only happy, but with a deeper connection with the band thereafter. I had Crooks at a disadvantage before this show as my expectations had been simmering ever since their debut EP Nevermore captivated me back in 2012. Despite this internal pressure, it took only the first minute of the evening's opening track to realise that my expectations were about to boil over. Crooks are a five–piece act from Cheltenham in the UK, playing a fast, energetic brand of post– hardcore accentuated by regular tempo–changes, melodic vocals and intricate guitar work. It's a formula that has recently earned them a record deal with Headphone Music, an indent of Equal Vision Records, who will be releasing the band's debut full–length album later this year. It's also a formula that leaves a lasting impression in a live setting. The drums hit you first; heavy hitting, fast and frenetic but played with absolute precision, setting the momentum for the whole set with constant rhythmic inertia. The guitar work is tight and intricate during the softer moments, yet angular and biting when the aggression is needed, providing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The strategies to be used will depend on several different components, e.g. the ability, knowledge and background of learners, the subject, differing learning styles etc. John Dewey (1859–1952) believed that formal schooling was falling short of its potential. He emphasised facilitating learning through promoting various activities rather than by using a traditional teacher–focused method. He believed that children learnt more from guided experience than from authoritarian instruction. Mainly due to the different audience and time scale too. Baring in mind the feedbacks I have received for the peer teach, I wanted to include some of the things mentioned and therefore creating a all around better lesson, one in particular including students through more nominated questions. Unfortunately I got drawn into the more active students answering questions straight away and demanding my attention. This made it more difficult for me to include the quieter students. I believe towards the end of the lesson my efforts started to work and the quieter students started to join in too. Due to this experience I was very surprised on the student feedback I have received. (Appendix.....) All students commented on the involvement they experienced. 'Getting up and doing was the best'. This was a very valuable experience and will assist for my future studies and teaching. Prior to the delivering of the session 'Planning and Negotiating' learning is key. • 33. The Neo Classical Model Of Economics MONETARISM The 1930's saw the neo–classical model of economics, championed by Walras and Mengers, crumble as rates of unemployment rose exponentially on a global scale. In the midst of this economic crisis Keynes offered solution to the crisis in his 1936 'General theory of Employment, Interests and Money'. He successfully argued that the state was alone capable of steering the economy to produce 'social stability and social justice' (Valentine, 2003) Thus the post– war consensus was formed and consequentially the centre ground of politics redefined, Keynesianism socialist model would hold sway for the quarter century following World War II. The decade of the 1970s was characterized by high and rising inflation and slow economic growth (Jahan and Papageorgiou, 2014). Keynesianism couldn't answer the soaring inflation, Hayek, who warned Keynesianism was a 'road to serfdom' (The Economist, 2013) and Friedman's 'neoliberal' model could and Thatcher recognised this. The essential economic task of Thatcher was the desertion of Keynesian 'macro–economics' (Valentine, 2013). The result was an adoption of Monetarism, 'a belief in controlling the money supply as a means of controlling inflation' (Viven, 2003). The 1970's economy was corroded to the breaking point due to the clout of the unions. Edward Heaths Conservative government was plagued by continuous strikes that led to the declaration of the three–day working week. Inflation was rising as high as 24%, with one million ... Aside from learning how to play Beer Pong and making them bacon sarnies, they reveal the undeniable challenges of adapting to our British culture and the attitudes which we see call home. "I learned how to be more accepting of people who are different than me. I had Muslim, Jamaican, and Indian students in my classes, which isn't something I'm used to. I feel that all Americans should have this experience abroad so that they can see white people aren't the centre of the world." They both presented very different mind–sets on the way England works as a country of peace and acceptance, besides the way our politics have impacted society and each generation. Josephine Butler : Patron Of Prostitutions Essay Josephine Butler: Patron of Prostitutions Josephine Butler was born on the 13th of April in 1828 in Milfield Hill Northumberland, and she was the seventh child of John Grey and his wife, Hannah Annett. Born during the Victorian era, she was a revolutionary activist and a leader of a National Women's Political campaign. Inspired by her father, who was a leading liberal and agricultural reform in the English border country, Josephine became aware of the terror of slavery and mistreatment of women, which sparked her care for the imprisoned and ill prostitutes. During the time, women were not allowed to vote, but Josephine managed to repeal the Contagious Disease Act, which was an act strongly supported by the public. This act was passed as a rationale to protect military men from getting sexually transmitted diseases from prostitutions, but allowed the latter to be sexually assaulted by police officers as they checked them for venereal disease. By repealing the act, Josephine Butler highlighted the great injustice that prostitutions faced. Moreover, she also campaigned for higher education for women, and sought equal suffrages. Nevertheless, she never became the national heroine of her time as compared to Florence Nightingale, and her accomplishments were much undermined. This essay narrates the exciting and complex journey of Josephine Butler, the influences she received throughout her life, as she struggled through her campaign that made her the historical heroine of today. ... Argumentative Essay-Horse Racing Should Be Banned Horse racing should be Banned Horse racing, you know it as fun and entertaining as the thoroughbred crosses the finish line, But what is the truth behind this awful sport? Horse racing should be banned because horses are not treated humanely and can be seriously injured and even die. Horses of the racetrack are not treated humanely. According to Anne of peta Uk "horses are often drugged to mask their pain and keep them running, when they should be resting or getting treatment." because they are in so much pain they don't want the people to know as they abuse these poor animals. Along with the cruelty Joe drape said horses are shocked during their training "It's called a buzzer,it's a device about the size of a lighter that conducts an electrical current and shocks the racehorse into running faster." Joe explained. Although I have never seen a race horse get shocked or drugged, I have seen horse cruelty where the horses are left to starve beaten and left to die, Like nobody in the entire world cares for them. ... Because these horses are raced so young their bones are not strong enough to hold the weight and to run so fast at 2–3 years old.Anne also said, "Former racehorses are "retired" to the slaughter house. Around 1000 horses from the racing industry are killed at slaughter houses in Britain every year, to be turned into dog food or horse meat. Four girls had a fight and it injured about 7 teachers, three officers, and made the four girls arrested. The District's school is deciding to make an alternative school. I agree with the idea because it will give the people who pay the taxes at the school's area it's worth, children in the school will be given better safety, and the town will have better reviews to the school or area. Let's start with how people will get their actual worth in tax on schools. When paying for taxes some of it is given to the school district. About 6,312 dollars are needed in tax for the school district. That is about fifty percent of the entire tax pay needed in Cheltenham taxes on average. Comparing this information to what happened earlier in Cheltenham high school on May 3,2017 it seems very unreasonable for the people who pay taxes and fifty percent of it is given to the school district when it gives injury to some of the students and doesn't give what most people want when giving tax pay to the school district. In "The Collective Wisdom", Herbert Spencer passionately refutes several of the House of Commons' reasons to oppose the Cheltenham Water Bill. Spencer makes clear points concerning the logical fallacies that the House of Commons based their decision on. This fully convinced the audience of the logic behind his position. Spencer first points out the logical fallacies in the Times paragraph. This paragraph stated, "such a measure, if carried out, will diminish the water of that noble river a million gallons per day." At first glance, this is quite an alarming statement to the public and the members of the House of Commons. However, Spencer clarifies this statement through a comparison. He states that, "The simple fact is that the current of the Thames, above the point at which the tides influence it, discharge in twenty– ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was stated in the House of Commons that, "the proportion of sewage to pure water would be seriously increased" if surrounding towns were allowed to tap into the springs. Spencer clarifies this claim through his use of an additional logical comparison. Spencer states, "Taking a minute out of twelve hours would be taking as large a proportion as the Cheltenham people with to take from the Thames." This time comparison puts the lack of a problem into perspective. Moreover, Spencer is able to look at the situation with a logical view instead of only stating direct facts. A further error pointed out and corrected by Spencer is this quote from the House of Commons, stating that to let the Cheltenham have this quantity would be "to rob the towns along the banks of the Thames of their rights." Spencer is able to refute this assertion by pointing out that 999 parts of the Thames out of 1,000 pass by unused. Therefore, it is clear that the proportion of sewage in the Thames is minuscule. • 136. Examine the Different Methods for Giving Constructive... Unit 9: Mini–essay: Examine the different methods for giving constructive (practical) feedback to learners and discuss how these can motivate learners. Giving constructive feedback is crucial; without it learners cannot learn (Rogers, 2004). When used to emphasise progress rather than failure, it motivates learners, building confidence and enabling them to recognise mistakes as part of a process that brings them closer to their learning goals. It can help both teacher and student to identify further learning opportunities or action to be taken. Feedback can be formal, such as after marking an assignment or observing practice, or given informally during a lesson (Gravells, 2012.) It can also be written or verbal. Written feedback ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This boosts morale by giving the student ownership of the solution. It also develops a student's ability to carry out future self assessment and encourages reflection. Lastly, it allows the teacher to gauge how much the student has understood. This helps when setting future goals that are challenging but achievable – crucial to engagement. Focusing on only two or three key points during feedback means students are not overwhelmed by any critical comments, preventing them from becoming dispirited (Avis, Fisher and Thompson, 2010). There is also a limit to how much new information a learner can grasp at once. Praising what the student has done well, outlining areas that need further development and then ending on another positive note will motivate the student and help prevent them focusing on any aspect they may perceive as negative. Petty (2009) says this makes feedback sound more like advice and less like criticism. For oral feedback to be constructive, it must be clear, jargon free, factual and provide reasons for any success or failure so that students can act upon any areas that require improvement. This is supported by research conducted by Weeden, Winter and Broadfoot (2000 cited in Avis, Fisher and Thompson, 2010, p.172) involving 200 learners, aged from eight to 19. The study found that simple comments, ticks or evaluative comments such as "good work", while welcomed by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Life and Music of Gustav Holst Essay The Life and Music of Gustav Holst Gustav Holst, born in Cheltenham in September 1847, is still today considered to be one of the greatest music composers of all time. He was not very fond of music when he was younger, but he enjoyed the piano. He was sent to Cheltenham Grammar School and forced to take long music lessons, even though he had neuritis in his hands. His first job was an organist and Choirmaster at the Choral Society, Bourbon on the Water. Impressed at his good ear for music, his father borrowed some money to send him to the Royal College of Music, which he had previously failed to enter. As he got older, the neuritis in his hands got worse, and it was almost impossible for him to play the piano, so he took up the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After many refusals of his works, Holst became rather unwell, so took him to Algeria for a holiday. The warm climate and bright colours of Algeria inspired Holst, so he decided to start working on a new piece called Beni Mora, but it was not a great success. In 1912, his performance of The Cloud Messenger was a hit, so he went to Spain for a holiday to celebrate. While there, he met Clifford Bax, who encouraged him to write a movement called The Planets. It was very successful. In 1923, Holst was conducting a rehearsal at University College, when he slipped and fell off the platform onto his head. The damage was deadly, and it was years before he recovered from the effects. Later on, after a trip to America, Holst received great congratulations for his performance of the Planets, and an anonymous rich man gave him several hundred pounds to spend on his music. But, Holst was beginning to have bad effects of the concussion he was in earlier, and he couldn't bear to have anything touch the back of his head. He spent many nights in agony, so his doctor suggested that he moved away from London. So that is exactly what he did. He bought a small house in Thaxtead and lived there for nearly a year, but much of his music was failing. In 1926, Holst was working in Dorset. He wrote a piece called Egdon Health dedicated to Thomas Hardy, and he knew it was the best thing he had

As well as giving you an indication of likely costs (or not, because copywriter rates actually give very little idea of how much a job will cost), copywriter rates can be a good indicator of a copywriter's quality. This is particularly true when you consider published copywriter day rates alongside a writer's portfolio and experience. Location too is important: a copywriter in, say Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, will probably have lower overheads and be able to offer more attractive day rates than a similarly experienced wordsmith in the Home Counties. Similarly, a good 'one man band' probably has lower overheads than a multi–person copywriting agency, while bringing equally good (or better) skills and experience. ...
