Imagination )
20. Time : 2-3 min
The real insight is in how you see everyday situations—not in seeing or discovering truly surprising behaviors.
21. HOW TO OBSERVATION
•Start with an observation. This should be something direct—a fact that seems almost obvious. “People are bored and fidget as they wait in line…”
•Now add an insightful reflection. It could explain the observation, it could call out an irony, or it could question why it has to be the way it is. “…this is no surprise as there is little in the environment to engage with or warrant attention.”
•Third, add considerations or ideas that are ways of overcoming the insight. “…consider ways of posting or sharing information that would be beneficial for those people to know.”
23. Questions: Good and Bad
Don’t ask:
•hypothetical scenarios
•how often they do something. You’d get biased answers.
•leading questions
•ask Yes/No questions
•rating on absolute scale
Do:
•Ask pen ended questions
•Ask concrete question. Like, how many times you did activity last week.
•Listen. Give some time to the participants to tell the real story.

32. HOW TO DRAW A EMPATHY MAP
•Notice that “say” and “do” are very explicit and “think” and “feel” are implicit.
•Consider a specific user’s experience and walk the map, writing down on sticky notes what the user said, did, felt, or thought.
•Use another color for another user’s experience.
•Once populated, step back and reflect on the content. Look for patterns and inconsistencies. What’s at the heart of this experience? Write down these observations and insights.
•From your discussion, write “Ways of…” statements that can seed a brainstorm of ideas.
33. Time : 15 min Don’t fall back on stereotypical descriptions of users’ actions or feelings. Use fieldwork and conversations with users to inform your map with real data.
34. Brain Storming
•brainstorming is not about reaching results, It’s about generate many ideas and it is an integral part of the problem-solving process
36. #1: There are no dumb ideas.
• It is a brainstorming session, not a serious matter that requires only serious solutions. Remember, this is one of the more fun tools of quality, so keep the entire team involved!
37. #2: Do not criticize other people's ideas.
• This is not a debate, discussion or forum for one person to display superiority over another.
38. #3: Build on other people's ideas.
•Often an idea suggested by one person can trigger a bigger and/or better idea by another person. Or a variation of an idea on the board could be the next “Velcro” idea. It is this building of ideas that leads to out of the box thinking and fantastic ideas.
39. #4: Reverse the thought of quality over quantity.
•Here we want quantity; the more creative ideas the better. As a facilitator, you can even make it a challenge to come up with as many ideas as possible and compare this team’s performance to the last brainstorming session you conducted.

94. Levels of Fidelity
•Low - low cost, rough and quick to build.
•Medium - slightly more detailed, still rough but closer to the solution.
•High - much closer to final, very detailed and much more time consuming.
95. Low fidelity
Low fidelity prototypes may include rough sketches, paper models, simple storyboards or rough paper prototypes of digital interfaces. When to use: Use low fidelity prototypes when you need to test rapidly and cheaply and explore a wide range of options in order to figure out the best ways of executing your ideas. Use as a proof of concept model to test out and rapidly present ideas in tangible form.
96. Medium fidelity
Medium fidelity prototypes take longer to develop, for the above-mentioned reasons, and may be more costly.
When to use:
Use medium fidelity prototypes when you need to give people a better sense of what the solution or part of the solution might look like and have already tested and validated some early assumptions. Medium fidelity prototypes are great for refining the execution of solutions, while still providing room for changing direction and testing out options.
97. High Fidelity
High fidelity prototypes aim to provide the closest representation of the idea possible without the time and cost required of final production.
When to use:
High fidelity prototypes should be used when the full spectrum of dynamics of the completed solution needs to be tested and analyzed for functional, visual and experience purposes. It provides a much more realistic picture of what the end product may be like and allows for final stage refinements and experience tests.
Storyboard

108. USER FEEDBACK WITH PROTOTYPES
•When you have a prototype of a concept, even if it’s just paper, have someone else try it.
•Recruit a participant, provide them with context for the idea and ask them for their honest opinion.
•Ask them to do something specific with the prototype—give them a task it supports.
•As they try, have them talk out loud about what they are thinking, looking for, and trying to do.
•Be helpful, but don’t lead them in a direction you want to see. Observe how your prototype does or doesn’t support your intended user tasks or experience.
•When they stumble or can’t move on, ask them what they are trying to do and what would be helpful.
•After they’ve tried the prototype, talk more about what you’re trying to do and solicit their advice.
109. Time : 15 min
Design your prototypes to support user activity. It’s OK for them to be simple and low fidelity—they should work like good props.

114. Formal Definition of User Experience
User experience is a term used to describe the overall experience and satisfaction a user has when using a product or system. It most commonly refers to a combination of software and business topics, such as selling over the web, but it applies to any result of interaction design.
Wikipedia definition
115. User Experience Design vs. Experience Design
• Experience design is driven by consideration of the ‘moments’ of engagement between people and brands, and the memories these moments create. Wikipedia definition
• User experience design takes a similar approach and applies it to a specific set of products– computer-related ones.
116. Interaction design
Interaction design is a sub-discipline of design which examines the role of embedded behaviors and intelligence in physical and virtual spaces as well as the convergence of physical and digital products. Sometimes referred to by the acronyms “IxD” or “iD”
Wikipedia definition
117. Information Architecture

118. Usability
Usability is the measure of the ease with which particular people can employ a particular tool or other human-made object in order to achieve a particular goal. Usability can also refer to the methods of measuring usability and the study of the principles that may predict whether an object is found usable in practice.
Wikipedia definition
119. Accessibility
Accessibility is a general term used to describe how easy it is for people to get to, use, and understand things. It is not to be confused with usability which is used to describe how easily a thing can be used by any type of user. One meaning of accessibility specifically focuses on people with disabilities, but there are other meanings.

1.User’s needs and site (business) objectives
2.Content requirements and functional specifications

124. Purpose
At the base of the pyramid there is the most important thing of product design; purpose. Without purpose there isn't a need for the whole product or feature. If your product does not fulfill a purpose it has no reason to exist at all. Before worrying about aesthetics or usability, start with finding out if there is a purpose for the product or feature.
125. Function
Once we established that there is a need for what we are about to build. The second thing on our list is that it should function. Does the product or feature work and is it even possible to fulfill the purpose. And last but not least, is it bug free and reliable?
126. Understandable
Once we have a purpose and it functions technically we can start worrying if the user understands how to use it. Can they find it and do they know which actions they have to take to use the product?
127. Easy to use
Great we now have something a user needs, it is technically sound and the user understands how to get the job done. At this level we can start thinking of simplifying the task. Think about removing constraints, giving feedback on user actions and making elements clearly identifiable and clickable.
128. Enjoyable
This is where we reach the pinnacle of User Experience; making the experience of using your product truly enjoyable. Make no mistakes, this is one of the hardest things to achieve.
