He raised money… he recruited a team… but he must have had a nervous feeling in his stomach… But this isn[t just an inspirational talk… telling you to buck the crowd, buck the trend, you can do it.. You can create a digital company or help you company becoming a success with smart digital marking… this isin’t only about digital opportuinty! This is about digital threat.
  2. The shape of your world has changed. For some of you, your competitors are figuring it out (and I say figuring it out.. Not figurED it out because there are no experts in digital, (it changes too fast) there are only experimenters, learner, triers … and not only are some of your competitors figuring it out and changing the. Shape of your world.. So your are customers (no matter what your industry!

  5. Plus customers are getting more and more tools to avoid advertising messages… on TV, on the web … So whether its your compeotors or your customers overtaxed brains or smarter “ignoring” tools… you are
  6. How do you fight back.. How do you turn digital from a threat into an opportunity?
  7. Now more than ever being different in the right ways and for the right reasons.. And expressing that difference… is key
  8. Being in the right place so you can be bought is key… Silk is a brand of soy milk introduced in 1996. It is distributed by White Wave Foods, a subsidiary of Dean Foods, which is the distributor of most cow's milk in the United States. more and more as e-commerce becomes a key sales channel, being in the riht place online is what matters… the process is compressed… linking is so fluide now… being in a news article or a blog or an email today is the same as being in the milk carton (for certain products)… so what are the ways to place yourself? And what is your distribution network.. So that are seen over and over and can be bought and bought… on the web advertising is distribution.. Seo, cpc, bizdev, reveshare, social media, pr.. This is all distribution actually now
  9. Aaah… the most mysteroius of them all.. How do you crate digital emotion? The truth is a lot of digital marketers are not good at creating desire… (or any emotion) more of this will happen as more of the smart traditional advertisers, filmmakers, etc.. Those who know how to pull our heartstrings become experimenters.. I’d like to ask each of you if you can share something that MOVED you one way or another digitally.. Can you share it. It doesn’t have to have been a marketing campaign. It could have made you laugh. Or cry, or be scared. Please share. And in so doing you are experimenting.. You are beginning to join columbus. You are beginning to reshape your world in your favor.to grow your business digitally.

  11. When most people think of online advertising they think about google (and the ilk) and why not? It’s like you have an invisible hand holding your shop above the street… and as soon as somebody who walks buy and says to their friend (or thinks to themselves) I really want a baby stroller you gently reach down your big invisible hand and hold out the store to them. And you don’t pay any rent until they walk into your store …. If you don’t think the shape of the world has changed.. Just thinkg about this… its possible today not to have to rent a shop on main street or high street in hopes that the right people walk by and walk in… nope… you wait for them to type “baby stroller” in google and then you serve them an ad.. And you don’t pay unless they click on it. Let’s try. What are you interested in. ok.. Now.. We’re going to make a magic shop (go to google sites. Make a shop. Selling something the audience concocts) and make an ad for it.
  12. You can buy ads based on what people are reading…. And soon… based on what community they are a part of by congacting group moderators directly. Ask maria sipka to come talk for aless than 3minutes.
  13. Based on what they have done in the past… did they click on your ad before (pay only for those people) or pay only for those who clicked on a competitors ad before.

I made it up to illustrate where I see tings going a little in the fture… we are used to saying we are intersted in men or women, 18 to 35 or other rather broad categories. Check this out.
