Maccabees continue Judas, leader, died in battle. Brothers continued. Greeks finally had to admit Israel’s autonomy. (ca. 125 yrs before Christ).
All promises fulfilled? Israel whole purified oppressors thrown off King of David’s line, a branch from the stump of Jesse???
Book of Mac teaches Israel believed: 1. “Israel” is the faithful Remnant 2. Holy ones rise to eternal reward 3. Martyrdom better than apostasy 4. God judges as a father 5. Good and wise to pray for the dead
