Panel Discussion On The State Of Texas
Panel Discussion
On April 21st, Dr. Saxe held a panel discussion that lasted an hour and 30 minutes. All type of
people that work at the local and state level went there, from people running for different districts to
the state representative, Chris Turner. During this panel of discussion, 8 persons had the time to
introduce themselves, what they're running for, and what they would do if they get elected. This was
a great day for this class because we had the opportunity to interact with people who holds positions
in the state of Texas, giving us another view of how things work in Texas.
The candidates presented during this panel discussion were Representative Chris turner, who serves
in the higher education committee for district 101. Sheri Capehart, who serves in district 2, all of her
sons graduated from Arlington ISD. Kelly Cannon, running for city council, district 1, she is the one
involved with taking away the red lights in Arlington. A person running for district seven in favor of
online voting, which I believe is ridiculous. Charlie Parker, he's the district 1 incumbent and an ex–
pilot from the navy. Dr. Victoria Myers, she taught political science in UTA but now she is running
for district seven, which is responsible by how Arlington looks. John Hibbs, a member of the school
district at Arlington, he has served there for 6 years. And last but not least Jamie Sullins, the
president of Arlington Independent School District. All of these people intend to do what they

Texas Booming Economy: A Case Study
Introduction Keeping a working economy has always been one of Texas' main concerns. In order to
convince companies to move to Texas, regulations and economic conditions were created in their
favor. While it has helped in keeping a booming economy, it has left us with a polluted environment
which in turn led the federal government to step in and try to create the regulations Texas refused to
make. The Environmental Protection Agency tried increasing the water they regulate with the new
Clean Water Act, but may have overstepped their boundaries. Texas should continue having a
booming economy, but an increase in environmental regulations is a must in order to avoid federal
government intervention.
Review of the Literature The lack of environmental regulation was one of Rick Perry's ways of
convincing companies from out–of–state to join Texas. A company that was attracted to Texas was
Toyota. Its original ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of Texas booming economy is The South Texas' Eagle Ford Shale and West Texas'
Permian basin that had a high demand of workers. This then led to 5,800 jobs being created in June
of 2012, according to the Texas Workforce Commission. (TIPRO, 2013) People who move to the
fracking locations increase the profits of the surrounding businesses. (Ledbetter, 2004) Hydraulic
fracturing is a main concern in the lack of regulation in Texas. Hydraulic fracturing consists of "the
injection of liquids into underground rock layers at high pressure to extract oil and gas trapped
inside." Fracking is said to be the reason for water pollution in its area, but with little data and
evidence to support it the Environmental Protection Agency cannot conclude fracking as the leading
cause for water pollution. It is also difficult to properly analyze how hydraulic fracturing has
affected its surrounding environment if the oil industry refuses to provide key data. (Warrick,

Dallas Cowboys Research Paper
I decided to do my paper on the Dallas Cowboys because not only are they Americas team but they
are my team. The Dallas Cowboys have 5 Super Bowl rings and haven't one in 20 years but still are
one of the most hated or most discussed football organizations in America. Well the history goes all
the way back to 1960 the Dallas Cowboys were born with the help of Clint Murchison Jr. as the
owner, Tex Schramm as the General Manager, and the Iconic Tom Landry as the head coach. But
the team finished the 1960 season with a horrible 0–11–1 record. In 1961 The Cowboys are moved
into the NFL Eastern Conference and having losing seasons until 1966 when they have a 10–3–1
record. In the 60's the Cowboys were in involved in one of the greatest games which ... Show more

But they are still "Americas Team", the name has been stuck with them since the late 70's. . "We

says team spokesman Rich Dalrymple. But in recent news the Cowboys finished their 2014 season
at 12–4 and 1st in the NFC East. The products produced go hand in hand, some products are Hall of
Famers like Roger Staubach, Michael Irvin, Emmitt Smith, Tony Dorsett, Tom Landry and so much
more. Also soon to be Hall of Famers like Dez Bryant. The Cowboys products are merchandise and
apparel, and the ultimate product is the Stadium. AT&T Stadium brings a lot of tourism to the
Cowboys and also to the city of Dallas, they products they are selling at the Stadium are game
experience and the big jumbo screen over the field. The screen helped out a lot with the people stuck
in the nose–bleed seats which is why their ticket sales have went up since the building of the
stadium. The stadium is portrayed in a lot of AT&T's commercials on TV too. On

Personal Narrative: My First Mission Arlington, Texas
"When you serve others, you give a piece of your soul away. In return, God comes to fill that empty
piece with a piece of Himself."
This past summer, I had the privilege to go on my very first mission trip to Arlington, Texas with
my youth group. One Wednesday night, my youth pastor told us that we were going on a mission
trip to Arlington, Texas to serve alongside the Mission Arlington workers. I have always felt the
calling to go out of the country to serve others, so this was the perfect opportunity to get a taste of
the mission life. I started to prepare in advance by praying for my youth group to be spiritually
ready, praying for the children I was going to meet, and praying that the will of God would be done.
So on July 16, 2016, we took the long haul to Mission Arlington Metroplex. The next morning we
headed to meet with Ms. Tillie, the lady who created the entire Mission Arlington. She started the
meeting off that morning by praying and telling the backstory of the mission. Ms. Tillie and her
family served the Lord as missionaries in South Korea. When they came home in 1978, after a
decade of service, they knew that God had a different plan for their life, a plan which involved
Arlington. A persistent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We started the Bible Study, and the kids were hanging on every word that was said. The same thing
happened the next day, but you could feel something different. God had prepared a soul to be
harvested, and that soul was my kid Joel. That afternoon I walked him back to his apartment, and I
asked Joel if he knew Jesus. He told me that he did, but he didn't know if Jesus lived in his heart.
So, we sat down and talked for a while about his relationship with Christ. So on that day, July 20,
Joel gave his life to Christ. I was so humbled and shocked that I didn't tell anyone what had
happened until that night. I had first–hand experienced God work, and it was so

Arlington's Journey
I believe that giving is greater than receiving. Being able to live in Johnson County is a blessing. We
have polite neighbors, clean streets, and fresh water. This past spring break I was fortunate enough
to travel to Arlington, Texas, with my youth group from my church. As a group, this would be our
second time traveling to Arlington for a mission purpose. As an individual, Arlington changed me.
When my youth group is traveling a long distance, we rent a couple of twelve passenger vans.
Driving to Arlington takes about ten hours, including bathroom stops and lunch breaks. Every time
my youth leader tells the group to go to the bathroom, no one listens. That is because we are
teenagers and do not have the best listening skills. One teen needed to take a whiz and could not
hold it for much longer. His solution was to relieve himself into a water bottle. This would be an
interesting trip for every single one of us. Arriving in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her name is Tiffany and is merely six years old. Tiffany is a lovely and sweet girl. She told me all
she knew about Jesus. Surprisingly, Tiffany knew a majority of the bible stories I was telling her.
Apparently this was not the first time a church had ministered to her apartment complex. We
provided Rainbow Express for kids of all ages. We had a few babies and a couple teenagers showing
up during the week. Despite the age gap, we did our best to involve everyone. Even though these
kids are experiencing rough times, they still emit more loving energy than expected. These kids love
you as if you are their long lost sibling. They were not afraid to sprint up to us with their arms wide
open. Mission Arlington shows me how to love people you have only known for a week. This
mission trip transformed me on how I perceive life at home. Even though my youth group and I are
back home, we still think about the children at Eagle Crest quite often. We will return to Arlington
next year for the third

The State Of Texas County
In Texas, each county is governed by a five–member Commissioners Court, which consists of a
County Judge (elected at–large) and four Commissioners (elected from single–member precincts).
The County Judge has no veto authority over the decisions of the Court; they have one vote along
with the other Commissioners. In smaller counties, the County Judge also performs judicial
functions, while in larger counties their role is limited to the Court. Elections are based on the
political parties, Democrat, Republican, Independent and sometimes Libertarian. Counties do not
have home rule authority because their authority is strictly limited by the State. Texas counties,
merely exist to deliver specific types of services at the local level as prescribed by state law, but
cannot enact or enforce local ordinances.
254 counties make up the state of Texas. The Dallas metropolitan area is much larger, and is one of
the fastest growing in the country. The 12–county Dallas–Fort Worth–Arlington (DFW)
metropolitan area has a population of 6,985,579 and is expected to be 7,960,117 by 2020 (Texas
Population 2020 Projections, 2014). Nearly one million new residents in the DFW metropolitan area
will cause more traffic congestion, the need for new jobs and more housing. People normally like to
live closer to their employers, so the areas with the best jobs will see faster population growth.
Cities and counties need to compete for companies much like they did with Toyota. Toyota moved

Burial Of The Fetus Burial Analysis
I have chosen the topic of burial of the fetus because I believe that even though the fetus was never
a "whole person" I still think it deserves proper burial or have the fetuses' tissues be used for
something good like organ donation or research for finding cures. There have been several videos
and breaking news about people selling fetal tissues after an abortion although, some allegations
may not be true Texas decided to take action before anything like that happened in the state. As of
2017, Texas is passing laws to require women who have abortions to have their unborn child buried
or cremated. The state of Texas being predominantly Republican is overall against the idea of
abortions therefore, they believe that the aborted tissues of the ... Show more content on

Military Retention Operations At The Army
Army Retention Operations At age four I knew that I would someday serve in the Armed Forces. I
primarily focused on serving in the Army but had a few distractions through the years. During the
summer between my junior and senior year of high school, I decided it was time to talk to an Army
recruiter and evaluate my options. My only desire was to join the Army; I had not given much
thought to what exactly in the Army I would like to do. I had no idea or conception of an
opportunity to serve in a position on the Army Staff at the Pentagon. After 19 years of service I was
given just that opportunity. While very stressful and a demanding work environment, Army
Retention Operations was a valuable learning and growing experience where I gained a strategic
perspective of the Army through interaction with other governmental agencies and was able to
influence Army Retention policy. History and Selection to the Army Staff I served three years in the
Army from June 1988 to June 1991 as a Combat Engineer (12B). I then spent over four years
experiencing civilian life and college. In March 1995 I reentered the Army with plans to make the
Army my career leading to retirement. I served my first eight years in the Army as a Combat
Engineer. I discovered a desire for a different career path in 1997 when I was required to reenlist for
an assignment to Germany. While in Germany I sought out an additional duty as the Company

positions to the City of Plano, TX (Toyota, 2014).
Less business regulations have been the key to success in the state and namely in the metropolitan
areas. No state income tax is one tool that is good to use in order to convince others to move. For
businesses there is only a gross receipts tax; people and companies are moving to the major cities in
the state. Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington and Wyoming do not have
state income taxes (Income Tax Rates by State, 2014). The lack of a state income tax is straining the
resources of counties and the cities throughout the state.
The State of Texas has led population growth in the U.S. for several years, and Dallas is one of the

The Tarrant County Courthouse : A Beautiful Structure Full...
The Tarrant County Courthouse is a beautiful structure full of historical importance that deserves to
be treasured. Tarrant County is the story of Indian battles, cattle drives, gunfights, and plantations.
Railroads and high–tech assembly lines all happened here. The mission of Tarrant County Historical
Commission is to "ensure that the story is saved, and savored for generations to come." The
commission meets regularly six times a year. Commissioners court, appoints two year terms.
Commissioners operate their own by–laws, and are in close association with the Texas Historical
Commission in Austin. "Tarrant County's businesses today reach around the globe and the county's
commercial and industrial airports are among the country's foremost international gateways."
Tarrant County was named after Edward H. Tarrant, a military commander, Texas Ranger, and an
Indian fighter who was the man responsible for the removal of most Indians who lived in the area.
In the 1870's, Tarrant County was in a period of prosperity and economic depression. Of course, the
cattle and railroads played a huge part of this decade. The trail drivers needed supplies and
entertainment and Tarrant County offered both. Between 1890 and 1917, the era of the long cattle
drives ended, with new developments such as the windmill, and more farmers moved into the area.
New farms started to appear, and crops were filled with cotton, corn, and wheat. Population of the

Amober Alert Research Paper
America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response or Amber Alert Plan, as many know it, is a way
of alerting the citizens of Texas, and the United States as a whole of when a child has been
abducted. The AMBER Alert System began in 1996 in the Dallas Fort Worth area when a
broadcasting team collaborated with the local police to make an early warning system to warn
people to be on the lookout for abducted children. This idea was conceived as a legacy to Amber
Hagerman, a nine year old who was kidnaped in Arlington while riding her bike. The AMBER alert
system is crucial to protecting the children of the United States of America and those across the
world. Today, every state in America and several countries abroad have enacted the same AMBER
alert ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The AMBER alert system is very well run and has saved a lot of children from possibly life altering
situations. The only change that I would make is one of informational prevention. What I mean by
that is we must inform the public, not only when an AMBER alert is emitted but before so we can
prevent a possible situation. I believe this starts within the home, as parents they must monitor their
children's time online to ensure they are not talking to people who they are not supposed to be
talking to. While the Internet is a great tool it is also a great medium for possible predators to begin
to stalk your children. Parents must be aware of who their children are speaking to online to prevent
the possibility of an abduction in the future. Other precautions are very simple as well, such as being
aware of where they are and setting boundaries and rules of where they could be at certain times.
Another precaution could be as simple as ensuring the child has an up to date Identification card. In
the home, parents should also warn the children of possible dangers from strangers and possible
situations that if they are found in a difficult situation how they should react. Parents must also be
informed of the truth about abductions. According to kidshealth.org most children who are reported
missing have run away or are just lost. Those who are truly abducted, most are taken by a family
member or someone well trusted; the other 25% are taken by strangers. Lastly, the website informs
us that most kids are in their teens when they are abducted. This information is crucial to helping
prevent the possible abduction and should be readily available to all families in order to prevent

Through the Texas government efforts, many students will be able to go through their education
with ease. As a result, the country's skilled employee increases, thereby increasing productivity. In
addition, education enhances innovation, and this has led to the introduction of technology and new
products. The campaign will focus on showing that education does not only improve the life of the
individual, but it also contributes largely to the overall economy. It will also focus on measures that
the governor will take to address issues that cause school dropouts such as teen pregnancy and
delinquency. One of the measures the candidate will discuss is investing in education programs that
counsel and guide the young people to reduce schools dropouts.
The third campaign theme is illegal immigration. The position of Texas and its economy makes
illegal immigration an important subject in political campaigns. The campaign will focus on
showing the negative impacts of illegal immigration which include pollution, increase in crimes and
eroding the value of labor. Cutting illegal immigration is vital for the country. The governor will

Non–cooperative, Semi–cooperative, and Cooperative Games–based Grid Resource Allocation
Straightforward access to large–scale distributed computational assets is provided by computational
Grids. With the help of their size and geographic dissemination they help to create large computing
centers. Several simulation studies are performed for evaluating the mechanisms to allocate
resources in a Grid. There are three mechanisms to allocate resources in a Grid. The first method is
the non–cooperative sealed–bid method where the tasks are auctioned off to the highest bidder.
Second, the semi–cooperative n–round bid method in which each site delegates the task its work to
others if it cannot perform the work itself. Last, the cooperative method in which all the sites
cooperatively perform all the tasks as efficiently as possible. The simulation model has various
leveled Grid structure in which machines are built around larger computing centers called
"federations" [1].

Stormwater Management Staff On The Four Mile Run Watershed...
Briefing Arlington County's Stormwater Management Staff on the Four Mile Run Watershed Model
Oct 26, 2017
Meeting Notes
In Attendance: Sayedul Choudhury, Riyam Alobaidi, Elizabeth Thurber and Guosheng Qui
Sayedul provided an update on the Four Mile Run SWMM5 Model. A model summary and a map of
model components (see attached) were handed out.
The Four Mile Run SWMM5 Model results were found to match observed flows at the Shirlington
gage, especially for large storms (5,000 cfs or larger). However, for the tributaries, small streams
and upper Four Mile Run segments, the model performance cannot be validated until local wet
weather flow data are collected.
Sayedul requested Arlington County to
– Collect rainfall data at a few more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sayedul will collect a copy of the data from Riyam.
CH2M added storages to a number of subwatersheds in the tributary models to account for water
that cannot enter the pipes, especially if the pipes are too small to carry the peak watershed runoff.
Streams Tech will evaluate the need for such storages in other subwatersheds to ensure that no water
is lost from the system.
Arlington County and Streams Tech personnel will walk along the key or questionable areas of the
stormwater network to identify potential problems and verify the connectivity and representation of
network (nodes, links, storages and subwatersheds) in the model.
Arlington County will provide data for an initial update of the model and then provide data annually
to update the model.
Streams Tech will coordinate NVRC to set up meeting to provide a project update to the Technical
Advisory Committee (TAC).
Arlington County wants to use the model results for various projects and programs including the
MS4 Program.
Four Mile Run SWMM model Summary
1. Four models for the following subwatersheds were developed by CH2M Hill and incorporated in
the FMR SWMM model:
a. Arlington County – Crossman Run subwatershed
b. Arlington County – Lubber Run subwatershed

Dallas, Texas State Of Texas Essay
Briefly Dallas
Dallas is one of the largest and most developed cities in the state of Texas in the United States.
Dallas is the 4th largest city in the United States because of its downtown location, and is also the
city with the world 's largest airport. Dallas, the largest city after Houston and San Antonio, is also
one of the top ten cities in the United States. The city is located in the middle of a desert and is
literally revived.
Dallas, a Texas state, deserves more attention with its dynamic cityscape, recent history, and
colorful life with its cowboys, though many of Turk dig into the minds of the same name
phenomenon TV series. Dallas has a place for me if I receive a chance to make a trip to Texas. The
first thing to notice is the regular city of Dallas. As far as I am concerned as a Turkish that we ought
to know these about Dallas briefly.
When we call Dallas, the famous series, especially at middle–aged people, is taken at the Southfork
Ranch in J.R, Sue Ellen, Bobby and Pamela Ranch. Southfork Ranch Farm is home to events such
as weddings, meetings and meals. It can also be visited like a museum.
Dallas is famous for its cowboys. The history of cowboys is quite interesting. The ancestors of
cowboys are not Americans, but Mexicans in North America. Even if we go back further, we see
that their ancestors are from Spain to North America.
With the discovery of oil and the construction of railways, Dallas has become a center of attraction
among people seeking jobs

The Assassination Of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy...
November 22, 1963, is a day that lives in infamy. Most Americans remember that day, even those
who were not born, for one reason. The assassination of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy
transpired in Dallas, Texas. His assassination became a topic of controversy as the idea of a lone
sniper committing the act was hard to accept. The assassin would go on to die a few days later.
Media outlets around the nation were in shock. The local Metroplex stations panicked like everyone
else. As a native Texan, correction native Dallasite, I view the Kennedy assassination differently
than most Americans. I want to stick close to my Dallas roots, and analyze what occurred on Elm
Street that day and how the local media covered the event.
The Dallas Metroplex is massive, totaling 10,693 square miles, 12 counties, and over 6 million
inhabitants. The Metroplex being so extensive, it was unlikely that every citizen and every city
reacted to the Kennedy assassination in the same fashion. For that reason, I decided to spread my
sights, and focus on three cities in different parts of the Metroplex. Analyzing the distinct patterns in
their newspaper publications from November 21st to November 25th provides a unique point of
view of how the Metroplex responded as a whole. Once, I have developed a keen understanding of
the media response in the Metroplex; I can compare it to the Warren Commission report and how
they portrayed what occurred in Dealey Plaza on a late November day. The three cities

Importance Of Airfield Facilities At Washington National...
Airfield Facilities We have now taken a look at the process used to appoint the Board of Directors,

Texas Natural Disasters
Residents of the Lone Star State are fond of saying that everything is bigger in Texas, from football
teams to marching bands, farmers' markets to barbecue favorites. But a corollary to that oft–spoken
refrain is everything is better in Texas as well. After all, the state was the second–most inbound
location for families who moved in 2015, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, and for eight
consecutive years, Harris County maintained the distinction as the U.S. county with the most
significant annual population growth.

Who Is Responsible For Hae Min Lee Death
On January 13, 1999, a girl named Hae Min Lee disappeared. She was a senior at Woodlawn High
School in Baltimore County in Maryland. Born in South Korea, Hae Min Lee migrated to the United

Weeks later on February 1, an anonymous call was made to the Baltimore County Police suggesting

Comparing A & M Going To A College
One thing that everyone used to always tell me as I was growing up is, "You need to know where
you are going to go and what you are doing to do for college." They put a picture on my mind that if
I don't do this I won't be ready for college and mess up somehow. This led me to start planning for
college early. One thing I didn't consider is what college I'm going to go to. Although A&M and UT
Arlington are both great universities for engineering, the differences between them far overweigh
the similarities. Some of the factors that differentiate them is their college life, career choices, and
total expenses. A&M university is a great school for someone looking for a new experience for an

UT Arlington, has a much lower tuition compared to A&M's tuition (A&M vs UTA). UT Arlington's
tuition is only $8,878 which is $500 less than A&M. In my opinion, $500 dollars is not much,
especially considering that A&M is one of the highest ranked colleges in America. As I said before,
my brother is currently enrolled in UT Arlington, this will really help both me and him with money.
The fact that we can share apartment will save us both money. Other factors like going back home
and transportation in general will also contribute to the cause. UT Arlington is also much closer to
home than A&M. This factor will eliminate the expenses on appliances and other basic needs. Not
only appliances but food cost as well, both my sibling have been coming home on weekends to get

differences, A&M and UT Arlington can be distinguished by its college and future lifestyle, career
choice, and total expenses. both UT Arlington and A&M have each own qualities that make people
attracted to their universities. A&M is considered a much better university, UT has a lower tuition
and factors that will save me a lot of money in comparison to A&M. Also, my career choices also
matter, and both A&M and UT Arlington have my desired career but A&M has other options that

In 1996, a 9 year old girl, Amber Hagerman was riding her bike around the neighborhood when a

man, and thrown into a pickup truck. The neighbor called the police, and Amber's brother went

Amber Hagerman's case is unsolved, to date. In February 2011 the police was lead into a child
pornography and trafficking network resulting in the police questioning a man, Bill Fry. In 1996
Fry, who has been living in Arizona, had an apartment in Texas not far from the location Amber was
abducted. By August the police raided Fry's home. While the police found child pornography, Fry
was dismissed by the police from being a suspect in the Hagerman's case (The Tarrant County
Observer, 2011). Because there has been no arrest, no trial, and the case is still open and being
investigated, the case information is unattainable.
While the court may not have made a decision which began the legislative process changing a law,
the Amber Hagerman case is still a landmark case because it is responsible for The Amber Alert
system. Because the idea to quickly find Amber via the media and broadcast agencies was
successful, the idea of using the media to locate a child became more routine. It is designed to locate
and retrieve a child who has been kidnapped and or missing and in possible danger. The word
Amber became an acronym for America's Missing Broadcast Emergency Response.
After Texas began using the Amber Alert system more routinely, more states began adopting the
Amber Alert as well. 3 years later, the White House held a conference to discuss Missing and

Baseball Park Construction Trends in the 1990s Essay
Baseball Park Construction Trends in the 1990s
The current trend in baseball park construction is a retro design, reminiscent of the early years,
combined with modern technology. This trend, dubbed "The Construction Era" by Frank Deford of
Sports Illustrated, is prominent in three new American League parks: Oriole Park at Camden Yards,
Jacobs Field, and The Ballpark at Arlington. The current idea for ballpark construction is to locate
the retro style parks in the heart of urban areas. The whole movement was initiated by the
construction of Oriole Park at Camden Yards, and it's radical new design concept. It all started on
April 6, 1992, the inaugural game at Baltimore's new stadium: Camden Yards. That day 47,930
people packed out the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The designers also placed television monitors in every section under the overhang for the crowd to
see the t.v. replays.
The fourth aspect that helps create the retro atmosphere at Camden Yards is the color scheme in the
park. The seats are all green, and each one has the 1890 Orioles club seal on it. The wall in left field
is home to green ivy that was brought over from Memorial Stadium.
The green seats and the ivy growing on the left–center wall help the park to look both open and
natural, much like the first ballparks did at the beginning of baseball. Finally, the last characteristic
of Camden Yards that make it a retro style park is that it is located in downtown Baltimore. In the
young days of baseball most of the ballparks were in the city since that is where a majority of the
population lived. Lack of transportation also played a big role in building a ballpark downtown
during the beginning days of baseball. Most people walked to the games, so it was important for the
first ballparks to be relatively close to the population. The reason the designers of Camden Yards
chose to build it downtown was in conjunction with an urban renewal project that was rebuilding,
and beautifying the downtown area of Baltimore known as the Inner Harbor. The next ballpark in
the "Construction Era" is The Ballpark at Arlington.
The Ballpark in Arlington was based on the retro deign of

Graduation Speech : Texas Education System
Hello Ms. Bahorich, I am a current student at the University of Texas at Arlington and I want to start
off by congratulating you for being the chairperson of the Texas board of education. Personally, I
admire you for spending your time to make sure students that attend a public school district in Texas

school districts are regulated according to standards. Your job goes beyond that; the future of Texas
students is in your hands. I also admire you for homeschooling your children; I don't believe this is
an act of hostility towards the Texas education system, but rather that you wanted to provide your
children the best education possible. I want that type of education to be available to all Texas
students. Texas education has greatly improved since the beginning of it, and although we recently
have passed laws to reach racial equally, I still believe that there is an issue in the Texas education

Pros And Cons Of Standardized Testing
Noddings describes the main dilemma of standardized testing from a teacher's point of view,
"Today, even elementary teachers complain that the pressure to produce high test scores inhibits the
work they regard as central to their mission: the development of caring and competent people"
(Barrier–Ferreira). Because the risks have reached disproportionate levels, educators are often
forced to forget all things that do not relate to the standardized tests and "consequently lose sight of
what is important: the whole child, who is not simply composed of intellect but is emotional and
spiritual as well" (Barrier–Ferreira).
Superintendents, one of the highest levels in the school district have varying things to say on the
subject of standardized testing.
Victoria superintendent Robert Jaklich said the system was comparing "apples to oranges. "Shiner
Superintendent Trey Lawrence, whose schools fared relatively well, said of the various standardized
tests, "I don't prefer any of them. We've gone testing crazy in the state of Texas." Clay Robinson, a
spokesman for the Texas Teachers Association, told the Associated Press that the new grading
system shows what educators already know: "The schools in the upper–middle class neighborhoods
do pretty well, generally, and the schools in poor areas don't" ("EDITORIAL: Texas Needs to Toss
out Standardized Testing.").

United States had a Manifest Destiny (A belief that the expansion of the United States from one
ocean to the ocean on the other side of the United States was justified and inevitable). A border
skirmish on the Rio Grande started off the war and a lot of American victories followed behind it.
When it was all over Mexico had lost about a third of its territory, including New Mexico, Arizona,
Nevada, Utah, and California.
The Manifest Destiny was believed not only by Polk but also by many American citizens. It was

Polly's Abduction Case Study
Within thirty minutes of Polly's abduction, a description of the suspects information was
broadcasted through APB ( all points bulletin). Unfortunately, the broadcast only went out on
channel 1 of Sonoma County Sheriff's so other deputies around the area weren't aware of the
kidnapping that had occurred. When a babysitter returning home noted a suspicious looking vehicle
stuck in a ditch in her employer's private driveway, she quickly phoned the property owner Dana
Jaffe. The property owner left her home and drove to a service station where she phoned the police
and two deputies were dispatched to the call. The two dispatchers ( Rankin and Howard) found
Davis near his Pinto that was stuck in a ditch, drinking beer. Because of the open container

Panel Discussion On The State Of Texas

  • 1. Panel Discussion On The State Of Texas Panel Discussion On April 21st, Dr. Saxe held a panel discussion that lasted an hour and 30 minutes. All type of people that work at the local and state level went there, from people running for different districts to the state representative, Chris Turner. During this panel of discussion, 8 persons had the time to introduce themselves, what they're running for, and what they would do if they get elected. This was a great day for this class because we had the opportunity to interact with people who holds positions in the state of Texas, giving us another view of how things work in Texas. The candidates presented during this panel discussion were Representative Chris turner, who serves in the higher education committee for district 101. Sheri Capehart, who serves in district 2, all of her sons graduated from Arlington ISD. Kelly Cannon, running for city council, district 1, she is the one involved with taking away the red lights in Arlington. A person running for district seven in favor of online voting, which I believe is ridiculous. Charlie Parker, he's the district 1 incumbent and an ex– pilot from the navy. Dr. Victoria Myers, she taught political science in UTA but now she is running for district seven, which is responsible by how Arlington looks. John Hibbs, a member of the school district at Arlington, he has served there for 6 years. And last but not least Jamie Sullins, the president of Arlington Independent School District. All of these people intend to do what they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Texas Booming Economy: A Case Study Introduction Keeping a working economy has always been one of Texas' main concerns. In order to convince companies to move to Texas, regulations and economic conditions were created in their favor. While it has helped in keeping a booming economy, it has left us with a polluted environment which in turn led the federal government to step in and try to create the regulations Texas refused to make. The Environmental Protection Agency tried increasing the water they regulate with the new Clean Water Act, but may have overstepped their boundaries. Texas should continue having a booming economy, but an increase in environmental regulations is a must in order to avoid federal government intervention. Review of the Literature The lack of environmental regulation was one of Rick Perry's ways of convincing companies from out–of–state to join Texas. A company that was attracted to Texas was Toyota. Its original ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of Texas booming economy is The South Texas' Eagle Ford Shale and West Texas' Permian basin that had a high demand of workers. This then led to 5,800 jobs being created in June of 2012, according to the Texas Workforce Commission. (TIPRO, 2013) People who move to the fracking locations increase the profits of the surrounding businesses. (Ledbetter, 2004) Hydraulic fracturing is a main concern in the lack of regulation in Texas. Hydraulic fracturing consists of "the injection of liquids into underground rock layers at high pressure to extract oil and gas trapped inside." Fracking is said to be the reason for water pollution in its area, but with little data and evidence to support it the Environmental Protection Agency cannot conclude fracking as the leading cause for water pollution. It is also difficult to properly analyze how hydraulic fracturing has affected its surrounding environment if the oil industry refuses to provide key data. (Warrick, ... • 5. Dallas Cowboys Research Paper I decided to do my paper on the Dallas Cowboys because not only are they Americas team but they are my team. The Dallas Cowboys have 5 Super Bowl rings and haven't one in 20 years but still are one of the most hated or most discussed football organizations in America. Well the history goes all the way back to 1960 the Dallas Cowboys were born with the help of Clint Murchison Jr. as the owner, Tex Schramm as the General Manager, and the Iconic Tom Landry as the head coach. But the team finished the 1960 season with a horrible 0–11–1 record. In 1961 The Cowboys are moved into the NFL Eastern Conference and having losing seasons until 1966 when they have a 10–3–1 record. But in recent news the Cowboys finished their 2014 season at 12–4 and 1st in the NFC East. AT&T Stadium brings a lot of tourism to the Cowboys and also to the city of Dallas, they products they are selling at the Stadium are game experience and the big jumbo screen over the field. • 6. Personal Narrative: My First Mission Arlington, Texas "When you serve others, you give a piece of your soul away. In return, God comes to fill that empty piece with a piece of Himself." This past summer, I had the privilege to go on my very first mission trip to Arlington, Texas with my youth group. One Wednesday night, my youth pastor told us that we were going on a mission trip to Arlington, Texas to serve alongside the Mission Arlington workers. I have always felt the calling to go out of the country to serve others, so this was the perfect opportunity to get a taste of the mission life. I started to prepare in advance by praying for my youth group to be spiritually ready, praying for the children I was going to meet, and praying that the will of God would be done. So on July 16, 2016, we took the long haul to Mission Arlington Metroplex. The next morning we headed to meet with Ms. Tillie, the lady who created the entire Mission Arlington. She started the meeting off that morning by praying and telling the backstory of the mission. Ms. Tillie and her family served the Lord as missionaries in South Korea. When they came home in 1978, after a decade of service, they knew that God had a different plan for their life, a plan which involved Arlington. A persistent ... So, we sat down and talked for a while about his relationship with Christ. So on that day, July 20, Joel gave his life to Christ. I was so humbled and shocked that I didn't tell anyone what had happened until that night. I had first–hand experienced God work, and it was so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Arlington's Journey I believe that giving is greater than receiving. Being able to live in Johnson County is a blessing. We have polite neighbors, clean streets, and fresh water. This past spring break I was fortunate enough to travel to Arlington, Texas, with my youth group from my church. As a group, this would be our second time traveling to Arlington for a mission purpose. As an individual, Arlington changed me. When my youth group is traveling a long distance, we rent a couple of twelve passenger vans. Driving to Arlington takes about ten hours, including bathroom stops and lunch breaks. Every time my youth leader tells the group to go to the bathroom, no one listens. That is because we are teenagers and do not have the best listening skills. One teen needed to take a whiz and could not hold it for much longer. His solution was to relieve himself into a water bottle. This would be an interesting trip for every single one of us. Even though these kids are experiencing rough times, they still emit more loving energy than expected. These kids love you as if you are their long lost sibling. They were not afraid to sprint up to us with their arms wide open. Mission Arlington shows me how to love people you have only known for a week. • 9. The State Of Texas County In Texas, each county is governed by a five–member Commissioners Court, which consists of a County Judge (elected at–large) and four Commissioners (elected from single–member precincts). The County Judge has no veto authority over the decisions of the Court; they have one vote along with the other Commissioners. In smaller counties, the County Judge also performs judicial functions, while in larger counties their role is limited to the Court. Elections are based on the political parties, Democrat, Republican, Independent and sometimes Libertarian. Counties do not have home rule authority because their authority is strictly limited by the State. Texas counties, merely exist to deliver specific types of services at the local level as prescribed by state law, but cannot enact or enforce local ordinances. 254 counties make up the state of Texas. The Dallas metropolitan area is much larger, and is one of the fastest growing in the country. Nearly one million new residents in the DFW metropolitan area will cause more traffic congestion, the need for new jobs and more housing. Burial Of The Fetus Burial Analysis I have chosen the topic of burial of the fetus because I believe that even though the fetus was never a "whole person" I still think it deserves proper burial or have the fetuses' tissues be used for something good like organ donation or research for finding cures. There have been several videos and breaking news about people selling fetal tissues after an abortion although, some allegations may not be true Texas decided to take action before anything like that happened in the state. • 11. Military Retention Operations At The Army Army Retention Operations At age four I knew that I would someday serve in the Armed Forces. I primarily focused on serving in the Army but had a few distractions through the years. During the summer between my junior and senior year of high school, I decided it was time to talk to an Army recruiter and evaluate my options. My only desire was to join the Army; I had not given much thought to what exactly in the Army I would like to do. I had no idea or conception of an opportunity to serve in a position on the Army Staff at the Pentagon. After 19 years of service I was given just that opportunity. While very stressful and a demanding work environment, Army Retention Operations was a valuable learning and growing experience where I gained a strategic perspective of the Army through interaction with other governmental agencies and was able to influence Army Retention policy. History and Selection to the Army Staff I served three years in the Army from June 1988 to June 1991 as a Combat Engineer (12B). I then spent over four years experiencing civilian life and college. In March 1995 I reentered the Army with plans to make the Army my career leading to retirement. I served my first eight years in the Army as a Combat Engineer. I discovered a desire for a different career path in 1997 when I was required to reenlist for an assignment to Germany. Amober Alert Research Paper America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response or Amber Alert Plan, as many know it, is a way of alerting the citizens of Texas, and the United States as a whole of when a child has been abducted. The AMBER Alert System began in 1996 in the Dallas Fort Worth area when a broadcasting team collaborated with the local police to make an early warning system to warn people to be on the lookout for abducted children. This idea was conceived as a legacy to Amber Hagerman, a nine year old who was kidnaped in Arlington while riding her bike. The AMBER alert system is very well run and has saved a lot of children from possibly life altering situations. The only change that I would make is one of informational prevention. What I mean by that is we must inform the public, not only when an AMBER alert is emitted but before so we can prevent a possible situation. I believe this starts within the home, as parents they must monitor their children's time online to ensure they are not talking to people who they are not supposed to be talking to. While the Internet is a great tool it is also a great medium for possible predators to begin to stalk your children. Parents must be aware of who their children are speaking to online to prevent the possibility of an abduction in the future. Other precautions are very simple as well, such as being aware of where they are and setting boundaries and rules of where they could be at certain times. Another precaution could be as simple as ensuring the child has an up to date Identification card. In the home, parents should also warn the children of possible dangers from strangers and possible situations that if they are found in a difficult situation how they should react. Parents must also be informed of the truth about abductions. According to kidshealth.org most children who are reported missing have run away or are just lost. Those who are truly abducted, most are taken by a family member or someone well trusted; the other 25% are taken by strangers. The exhibit about the Dust Bowl is in a good location because it is in the library where most students go daily. The location can also be considered a bad location because it is not easily seen from the door and one has to be looking for it to find it. The exhibit should be advertised to let more people know about it and tell them what it is near in the library. The traveling exhibit about the Dust Bowl has twelve different displays. Ten of the displays are set up in a circular formation with numbers on the bottom. On each of these displays there are pictures and information on the front and back of them. All of the front side of the displays are facing the inside of the circle and are numbered one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Clay Arlington's Identity Suture The entire premise of the film seems to revolve around Clay Arlington losing his identity and gaining a new one from his counterpart half–brother. To create a sense of doubt about your own identity. It wants you to question how much of our identity is formed by our environment. But the question I want to ask is how much of our identities are ours alone? And does it even matter? Dr. Shinoda makes a concluding statement about Clay's happiness at the end of the film "... it will be false, empty, for he has buried the wrong life, the wrong past, buried his soul...". Is this statement really true? While this movie does not put a heavy focus on this aspect of identity, it does leave a number of clues. In the beginning of the story, within ... While he may now take his name and live in a new environment, Clay has had to make no attempt at becoming more like the original Vincent. • 34. Baseball Park Construction Trends in the 1990s Essay Baseball Park Construction Trends in the 1990s The current trend in baseball park construction is a retro design, reminiscent of the early years, combined with modern technology. This trend, dubbed "The Construction Era" by Frank Deford of Sports Illustrated, is prominent in three new American League parks: Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Jacobs Field, and The Ballpark at Arlington. The current idea for ballpark construction is to locate the retro style parks in the heart of urban areas. The whole movement was initiated by the construction of Oriole Park at Camden Yards, and it's radical new design concept. It all started on April 6, 1992, the inaugural game at Baltimore's new stadium: Camden Yards. That day 47,930 people packed out the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The designers also placed television monitors in every section under the overhang for the crowd to see the t.v. replays. The fourth aspect that helps create the retro atmosphere at Camden Yards is the color scheme in the park. The seats are all green, and each one has the 1890 Orioles club seal on it. The wall in left field is home to green ivy that was brought over from Memorial Stadium. The green seats and the ivy growing on the left–center wall help the park to look both open and natural, much like the first ballparks did at the beginning of baseball. Finally, the last characteristic of Camden Yards that make it a retro style park is that it is located in downtown Baltimore. In the young days of baseball most of the ballparks were in the city since that is where a majority of the population lived. Lack of transportation also played a big role in building a ballpark downtown during the beginning days of baseball. Most people walked to the games, so it was important for the first ballparks to be relatively close to the population. The reason the designers of Camden Yards chose to build it downtown was in conjunction with an urban renewal project that was rebuilding, and beautifying the downtown area of Baltimore known as the Inner Harbor. The next ballpark in the "Construction Era" is The Ballpark at Arlington. The Ballpark in Arlington was based on the retro deign of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Graduation Speech : Texas Education System Hello Ms. Bahorich, I am a current student at the University of Texas at Arlington and I want to start off by congratulating you for being the chairperson of the Texas board of education. Personally, I admire you for spending your time to make sure students that attend a public school district in Texas get the best education possible. I believe that your job is more than just leading meetings over the Texas education system, giving ideas on how to improve the education system, or make sure that school districts are regulated according to standards. Your job goes beyond that; the future of Texas students is in your hands. I also admire you for homeschooling your children; I don't believe this is an act of hostility towards the Texas education system, but rather that you wanted to provide your children the best education possible. I want that type of education to be available to all Texas students. Texas education has greatly improved since the beginning of it, and although we recently have passed laws to reach racial equally, I still believe that there is an issue in the Texas education system. The issue present in the Texas Education System is the bad funding of public school districts. The way public school districts are funded in the state of Texas gives a disadvantage to students that attend a school district located in a low income neighborhood over those who attend a school districts located in a rich neighborhood. I believe that as republicans we both can agree that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Pros And Cons Of Standardized Testing Noddings describes the main dilemma of standardized testing from a teacher's point of view, "Today, even elementary teachers complain that the pressure to produce high test scores inhibits the work they regard as central to their mission: the development of caring and competent people" (Barrier–Ferreira). Because the risks have reached disproportionate levels, educators are often forced to forget all things that do not relate to the standardized tests and "consequently lose sight of what is important: the whole child, who is not simply composed of intellect but is emotional and spiritual as well" (Barrier–Ferreira). Superintendents, one of the highest levels in the school district have varying things to say on the subject of standardized testing. Victoria superintendent Robert Jaklich said the system was comparing "apples to oranges. "Shiner Superintendent Trey Lawrence, whose schools fared relatively well, said of the various standardized tests, "I don't prefer any of them. We've gone testing crazy in the state of Texas." Clay Robinson, a spokesman for the Texas Teachers Association, told the Associated Press that the new grading system shows what educators already know: "The schools in the upper–middle class neighborhoods do pretty well, generally, and the schools in poor areas don't" ("EDITORIAL: Texas Needs to Toss out Standardized Testing."). According to Victoria Advocate: "Sadly, the culture of standardized testing stamps out individual inspiration from both ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A border skirmish on the Rio Grande started off the war and a lot of American victories followed behind it.
