Grouped
Written by ROCK
At the moment,
the number of
Community English Club (CEC) members is up to 36, which is a
small number compared with that of students around the area. In
reality, not many of them know about CEC as well as its activity.
Besides, there is a shortage of people in charge of exchange and
promoting meetings. To solve those urgent problems, the
solution of teamwork taking those tasks is put into practice.
In the nearest online meeting of die-hard members, we
come to the agreement of naming this group as PR (Public
relation group) and primarily led by Nguyen Hong Hanh-vice
director of CEC. The estimated number of member in this group
is 6, which now is still in need. It is expected to start working in
this May with the first main task of holding the meeting with
Foreign Language Faculty students Course 33.
6. It is true to say that the tasks of this group are quite challenging
but fruitful. Since CEC is at its first days, the club does need to
make it clearly known
to as many students as
possible. This means
more work for PR.
Sometimes, it is not
very easy to hold a meeting, especially in meeting between clubs.
However, working in the PR will surely offer you the chance to
gain the communication and organization skills. Most of the time,
the PR members have to talk or contact with others, so that it is
your confidence that will be gradually improved. Like other
groups AV, BI-ZINE (audio-visual and bilingual magazine,
respectively), the PR is a family member under the same roof of
CEC home and will receive the regular support from other
groups, members and CEC staff.
With the establishment of PR team, the organ system in
the CEC body is more sufficient and specialized. Let us wish our
CEC and CEC members more and more successful in their way to
future.

"The second Monday of May" năm nay, con sẽ về. Mẹ con
mình sẽ lại đi viếng mộ bà ngoại mẹ nhé! Con yêu mẹ.
The Secret of Mother
Translated by Phuong Thuy
I am 20 years old. You have been bringing me up for 20
years; you have given me such valuable things belonging to the
treasure of human knowledge. Thanking to you, I know that June
1 is the Children's Festival Day, September 2 is the National
Independence Day, November 20 is the Teachers’ Day, and March
8 is the International Women's Day on which we receive the
special care from the only two men in the family: daddy and bro.
Moreover, you have taught me other important days that I had
never learned at school. I am very proud of you because you help
me to know many wonderful things. Mom, you are my best
teacher. But there is a very strange day, you have never explained
to me!
I once remember that I got angry with you because I tried
to persuade you to answer my question: "What day is today,
mom?” you did not do that, just smiled quietly and said: "When
you really love me, you will understand all". I felt so sad. Did you
mean I did not love you? You seemed not to understand me. I
love you most in my life.
Everything belonging to the past replaced all the passion,
which you dreamt for me. And I was happy to follow your right
direction. You were not a teacher but teaching had already been
your burning dream. And now I am going to follow your way. I
14. am satisfied with our present life and happy with all things I have
had. Especially, you always stand by me, and lend wings to my
dreams.
Now, I am a woman. In remote places, I know how
homesickness and loneliness are when I miss home. I really wish
for a scholarship to give you-my lovely mother- a shirt that you
like, but I have no chance to do that. I also call Tom to ask him not
to play much when you feel tired, and expect him to learn harder.
It’s a long time I did not wedge in your chest and say loudly three
words: “I love you”! From my deep heart, these words are very
important. That is the thing I would like to say to you whenever I
am encouraged because of my failures. I know more that ???
Another May is coming. I suddenly reminded my
childhood. Just once a year, on a special Monday, you took me to
visit my grandmother’s grave. I always wonder why we visited
the grandma on that day.
Studying at university, you have many opportunities to learn
more and acquire such many new things that I may be never
taught.
I got lots of new friends and learn more from them. An American
boy who is one of my foreign friends told me about his carnations
flowering better and better.
I ask him “why do you like carnations?” He said that the
pot is spent for his mom. On Mother's Day, he wished a surprise
gift for his mum....
Mommy! Now you know your secret! Mystery day I have not
known for a long time is Mother's day. I reproach myself with my
heartless. But, I am making a pot of carnations with all silk ones. I
will give them to you. I hope these flowers will be fresh forever
like my love for you.
"The second Monday of May” in this year, I'll be back. we
would go visit the grave of her grandmother as usual! I love you,
mummy.

DIRECTOR OF CEC
Tra My and Loc Lan
We had an interesting and useful interview with Mr.
Thuyen, the director of CEC. Although he is very busy, he still
spends time talking with us about CEC. He is from Nam Dinh, he
is studying in English Education (K31) at Faculty of Foreign
Languages and........
On a nice day, near the beautiful flower garden at the
center of the Facuty of Foreign Language.
Lan: First of all, thank you very much for accepting of our
invitation to take part in this interview! Presently, many students
desire to join CEC, but, they don't understand much about CEC.
May you tell us a little about CEC, for example, the purpose, the
activities, and especially about CEC died-hard members?
Mr. Thuyen: Of course. The full name of CEC is Community
English Club and the maxim, also the purpose of CEC is sharing
knowledge, connecting community. Now there are 15 CEC died
hard members.
My: So, is there any changes in your life when you become the
CEC director? And how do you do to balance your study and your
work?
Mr. Thuyen: Firstly, I have a chance to meet many people, I learn
many good things from CEC members and I get more
experienced. All died hard members help me with a lot of work.
We work together to run CEC activities.
My: Do you think that there is any limitation of the number of
CECer?
19. Mr.Thuyen: Of course not. We welcome all people attending to
CEC. No limitation.
Lan: So, what are you going to expand and develop the CEC size?
I mean to attract more people attend to CEC.
Mr. Thuyen: Is your question about CEC marketing or PR?
Yes, I think we are going to organize the CEC meeting for
students of the faculty of foreign languages. They are studying in
the university of argriculture and forestry. In addition, now we
are making PR group to advertise CEC with all students.
My: Yes, thanks for your information about CEC. I think that
students have some basic knowledge about CEC. So, now, may I
ask you a small question that relates a little bit about your
personality?
Mr. Thuyen: Ok, I am ready!
Lan: It seems that you are a successful person because of your
significant contribution to build an interesting and useful place
for many students. Moreover, you are also the CEC director, you
are talent.
It is said that behind a successful man, there is always a woman.
And I know, that woman is your mother. So, can you tell us
something about your mother?. ^^!
Mr. Thuyen: Firstly, I would like to say that I am not really a
successful person because the success of CEC is the contribution
of many other members and about my mother! ^^! I don't know
how to say, just only sa that: “my mother is a wonderful woman".
She always encourage me everytime...!
My: I think If your mother know all about what you did for the
community, she will be happy and proud of you.
Thanks for your sincerely sharing and what English sentence do
you want to give all students?
Mr. Thuyen: "There are many ways to Rome”
My and Lan: Thanks again for your meaningful sentences.
20. You Should Know
There is an axiom in business circles, which suggests that
hard skills will get a person an interview, but soft skills will land
that person a job. This means an applicant with years of
education and experience in the field might have the hard skills
necessary to fill the position, but lack soft skills such as
leadership ability or self-motivation necessary to perform well
on the job. An ideal candidate for many job openings has a
combination of both hard and soft skills, with a number of human
resource directors preferring to see soft skills such as time
management and a willingness to be trained.
Soft skills are qualities,
personality traits and social
skills which everyone
possesses in varying degrees.
Some people make friends
easily, for example, which
would be considered a
valuable soft skill in the world
of sales. Others are extremely punctual, or able to make rational
decisions under pressure. A person may also have the innate
ability to work with co-workers from other cultures, or learn a
new language quickly. These would all be considered valuable
soft skills. Unlike specific
hard skills such as mathematical ability or mechanical aptitude,
discovering a job applicant's soft skills can be notoriously
difficult. Some companies use special sychological screening tests
to determine if an applicant has the right temperament or
21. personality for a specific job title, although these tests cannot
always predict how an applicant would perform under real world
conditions. A new employee may have the technical skills and
experience to work on a customer support team, but lack the soft
skills such as patience or the ability to work under stressful
conditions to be effective in the position. Some
employers use open-ended interview questions about an
applicant's work or life experiences in order to determine
desirable soft skills. For example, an applicant for a managerial
position might be asked about a past incident in which he or she
had to assume leadership. Another
applicant might be asked to recall a
time when he or she had to
resolve a conflict or deal
with a difficult co-
worker or custome r. How
an applicant handles such
probing questions
during an interview can also
reveal a number of other soft skills,
such as the ability to form answers quickly or
to see the positive side of a negative situation.
Many employment experts strongly urge job seekers to improve
their soft skills along with their hard skills such as continuing
education or specialized training. Many employers are reluctant
to hire technically skilled applications who display little
emotional investment in their careers or the ability to work well
with others under stressful conditions. Having a proper balance
of hard and soft skills is one way to level the playing field when
competing against hundreds of other applicants in a tight job
market
22. Bạn Nên Biết
Translated by Emily
