Today About Confession Bad news Goodnews Wrap up
About
Confession
14 years ago. I signed up for the Danish army. What made medo that? … I wantedtravel the world and blowstuffup. I asked to manyquestions, so I ended up realizingit was boring routinework, and I didn't make a career. Thatwhywe dont want to do it. Flag of Kharkov
Globalization The reason why offshoringstarted was to avoid mechanical tasks. Technical knowledge had full focus Documentation and ”Hardskills” highlyvalued
Left brain abilities Logical Linear Sequential Structural
Right brain abilities Processingmultiple tasksat once Understandcontextratherthan the text Vujadé Not harder Not better Not worse Not easier
Whatmatters? Left brain abilities are 100% necessary… Always has been, alwayswilbe …but they are no longer enough Right brain abilities matter more and more. Challenge and consult This is my message today
Bad news I'm am technical like you. I'm a engineer, I’m logical, I’m sequential I love facts and statistics and they tell us that we have to manage both abilities. It’s not my decision
3 reasons
Motivation Who needed them 10 years ago?
Motivation We have all these new gadgets/technologies that are being invented every day…now we can’t live without. Interestingto work with, inspiring, motivating and it’s human nature to be curious/critical. People need to be paidand treatedwell. WhatmakesGooglesuccessfull and attractive? What makesusperformbetter? Feeling of making progress, direct our lifes and control time
India Offshore is developing. It does not stop moving, especially in crisis times India has more than 1 billion inhabitants 5% technically well educated developers = 50 million developers Wecan’tcompetewiththat Largest English speaking country in the world Communication is for free - traveling is cheap.
India Pureleftbraintasksarebeingoffshoredto whereit’scheapest Steps, scripts, lines of code or formulas to a right answer are easy to move, Do you want to do routine work the next 10 years? No! its boring, it’s uninspiring, it’s demotivating and India can do it cheaper.
Automation First slaves did our routine work Around 100 years ago machines replaced ourmuscles End of the 20stcentury software started to replace our brains. Software cantake over our left brain abilities. (Thanksto developers whomanagebothabilities)  NUnit, WatiN, crawlers, botsetc…
3 questions Look at whatyouaredoing… 1.	Areyoumotivated and inspired? 2.	Cansomeonein India do the same cheaper? 3.	Cana computer do it faster?
The goodnews Leftbrainabilitiesarenecesary More and more focuson right brainabilities Fear not! Advantage in understanding & relationships It’s a naturalabilityfor humans to becurius, ask questions and wanting to make a difference. Get new ideas Knowledge sharing Ways to make a customer happy Optimizing a process Solving a task a little bit better
Wrap up You are going to learn something important, if you ask, point your finger and act.
Areyou a footsoldier?
