Is this your first time attending Citrix Synergy? Here are some tips to help you make the most of the conference – starting before you even arrive in Los Angeles.
See you May 6-8! http://bit.ly/1meLPUG
2. 1 Plan your schedule in advance
but be flexible
Don't be afraid to double book your agenda so if the
session you are attending turns out to not be what you
expected you know what a good backup is. Keep your
agenda flexible.
–Adam Gamble, Sr. Consulting Engineer at Sigma Solutions, Inc.
3. 2 Don’t just go to sessions for the
products that you currently use
Every Synergy I learn of new and existing product lines
that solve issues my users are hitting.
–Douglas Soltesz, Vice President - Information Systems and Technology at Budd Van Lines
4. 3 Don’t discount the value of the
short sessions
I’ve had short sessions that were as valuable, if not more
valuable, than a lab-type session. In the short sessions, you can
focus on being a sponge since you’re only there to listen and
ask questions. In the longer lab sessions, since you’re actually
doing other things, you’re not always able to retain as much
information (that directly correlates to your environment).
–Harvey Green III, Citrix Architect/Administrator at AmWINS Group
5. 4 Save some time for the
on-demand labs
While in the Self-paced labs, grab the PDFs for all of the
Instructor-led Labs and other Self-led labs and do them in
your lab. They are also great reference throughout the year.
–Matthew Allen, Solutions Architect - Virtualization at Right! Systems.
6. 5 Check out the SynergyTV schedule
If choosing between two breakouts running at the same time,
check to see if one if being recorded for SynergyTV.
–Douglas Soltesz, Vice President - Information Systems and Technology at Budd Van Lines
7. 6 Bring comfortable shoes
Wear comfortable shoes and par down your laptop bag to the
bare essentials to cut down on weight.
–Adam Gamble, Sr. Consulting Engineer at Sigma Solutions, Inc.
8. 7 Bring a battery pack
Take a battery pack for your smartphone, nobody likes
missing out just to recharge batteries.
–Greg Tiber, System Engineer III at Wipfli LLP
9. 8 Install the app
–Allen Cook, System Administrator at Utah State University
You will have the schedule at your fingertips.
10. 9 Don’t be too concerned with
taking notes in sessions
All of the slides are available afterwards. Take notes on key
concepts and download the slides to get the links, registry
settings, etc afterwards.
–Douglas Soltesz, Vice President - Information Systems and Technology at Budd Van Lines
11. 10 Don’t miss Geek Speak Tonight!
Plenty of drinks (usually) and good conversations before
the event begins. Don’t miss it.
–Douglas Soltesz, Vice President - Information Systems and Technology at Budd Van Lines.
12. 11 Learn like crazy
Ask your burning support questions to Citrix support gurus,
product managers and CTPs in the Meet the Experts theater.
Learn and share your experiences with fellow delegates,
UKCUG leaders and CTPs at the Lunch Table Tech Chats.
–Neil Spellings, Citrix Solutions Architect, Citrix Technology Professional,
CCIA for Virtualisation at British American Tobacco
13. 12 Don’t be afraid to introduce
yourself
Chances are others don’t know many people at Synergy either
and you will make some great connections.
–Greg Tiber, System Engineer III at Wipfli LLP
14. 13 Take advantage of the
networking opportunities
Whether it is at lunch, charging station, etc. I am always
amazed who I meet and connect with just by talking to
people. I can’t tell you how many times I ended up going to a
different session because of someone I met and they told me
about what they were doing or interested in, etc....
–Steve Greenberg, President at Thin Client Computing
15. 14 Get on twitter #CitrixSynergy
Take the time to get on Twitter, it’s a hotbed of
networking and information during the conference.
–Adam Gamble, Sr. Consulting Engineer at Sigma Solutions, Inc.
16. 15 Have fun
Prepare for some downtime and don’t skip the
entertainment.
–Ron Krogel, Infrastructure Engineer at SLHS
