This is a preview version of the Content Modelling Workshop that I've co-written with Cleve Gibbon. So far we've given this workshop in Cape Town and Minneapolis. Coming soon to Helsinki, and hopefully elsewhere. This deck introduces the ideas and methodologies of content modelling. It's a subset of the slides for the workshop. The full workshop also includes more information on structured content, benefits of content modelling, many group exercises and discussions, and tips on how to putting these practices to work in real projects.

Almost every client we meet in our SharePoint world requests implementations of "taxonomy" and "metadata" - often times, they are asking because they've been told they should - but aren't even clear what the request means or what it is they are asking for. This presentation will attempt to clarify what Taxonomy/Metadata is and outline the different ways it is employed both within the site and across sites.

There's always another redesign. There's always another new must-have front-end design effect. There's always another platform, a new screen resolution, the latest device. Underneath it all, there's content. What if we could get away from the cyclical churn, the constant reinvention? What if we could stop throwing the baby out with the bathwater? Instead of trying to get all new content every time there's a redesign (or worse, shoving crappy old content into stylish new clothes) it's time to plan for the future. In this session, Karen will explain how Drupal is the future of adaptive content. She's not saying that like she's some kind of Drupal fangirl (though she is.) She's saying that as a long-time information architect, content strategist, and user experience designer, who sees content through the eyes of the people who create it and maintain it. She'll explain why—from her perspective—Drupal's content modeling tools and flexible UI make it a powerful tool in our fight against the future.

Content Management is a complex problem made up of content, people, process and technology. And it's getting harder has we move into a structured content world. Your success in the digital world relies primarily on how well you manage and analyze the data coming from disparate internal systems and external channels. You need to understand how to innovate and leverage digital data to drive sales and productivity. Existing principles driving traditional data architecture are inadequate to support the volume, variety, and velocity of this new data ecosystem. In these scenarios, information governance (master data management, metadata, data quality and data governance) becomes highly critical in terms of providing the context for operational, competitive and advanced analytics. Companies require a data architecture and strategy that can support efficient digital transformation by unlocking the value in all data sources to provide mission-critical insights and informed decision-making. Our experts covered: -Five information management pillars necessary for digital transformation -Stages of digital information maturity, reflecting the typical path of an organization implementing this new data ecosystem -Issues, challenges, and approaches to governing this new architecture

In the decade since I officially became a Content Strategist, I’ve learned many important principles of working with content. Some of them have influenced the kind of work I do, and some of them have helped me better understand how the field is developing and what directions it needs to grow in for this practice to become more effective with digital content. In this presentation I’ll summarise my top ten learnings and describe how these principles have been critical to the work I’ve done these past 10 years. I’ll also discuss how people can dig deeper into the principles that they find most useful and relevant to their work.

Full transcript available here: https://karenmcgrane.com/talks/adapting-ourselves-to-adaptive-content/ For years, we've been telling designers: the web is not print. You can't have pixel-perfect layouts. You can't determine how your site will look in every browser, on every platform, on every device. We taught designers to cede control, think in systems, embrace web standards. So why are we still letting content authors plan for where their content will "live" on a web page? Why do we give in when they demand a WYSIWYG text editor that works "just like Microsoft Word"? Worst of all, why do we waste time and money creating and recreating content instead of planning for content reuse? What worked for the desktop web simply won't work for mobile. As our design and development processes evolve, our content workflow has to keep up. Karen will talk about how we have to adapt to creating more flexible content.

When we talk about (chat) bots, we think of a bot with which to chat through texts entered with a keyboard. Between typos, buttons and AdaptiveCards, we tend to lose sight of the true essence of a Conversational Agent: conversing through a dialogue, perhaps through the voice. The maximum value of a bot is expressed when using the Azure Cognitive services for Speech to Text and Text to Speech. We will understand how to develop a bot, the use of predefined entries and multilingual support. And what are the consequences in defining a conversation. And then we'll see how to give the bot "physicality". Through the use of Unity, we will create a scene with an Avatar modeled in 3D that synchronizes with the conversation, giving us the feeling of talking to us like a real person. The whole in the context of an enterprise scenario.

The web is not a fixed width. So if the medium is fluid, should the process be fixed? Open source evangelist Steve Fisher prefers designing within the browser, especially when responsive design is a requirement since Fireworks and Photoshop are not flexible enough to demonstrate media queries, button and menu states, HTML5 and JavaScript behaviors, dynamic resizing of elements and navigation flow. Learn how to develop a fluid process to match the fluidity of interactive design as Steve shows you why a responsive process is a responsible process. He’ll explore some of his recent work helping clients transform their processes to fit a responsive workflow and share some of the tips, techniques and processes he’s developed. One web to rule them all!

To make content intelligent so that it can be readily adapted requires greater upstream thinking and wider involvement from those responsible for planning, creating and managing content. In short, a unified content strategy. However, adaptive content also requires flexibility from the content architecture(s) delivering those unified content strategies. In this session, Cleve will present a couple of content architectures for delivering adaptive content.

Webinar Recording: https://www.panagenda.com/webinars/why-teams-call-analytics-is-critical-to-your-entire-business Nothing is as frustrating and noticeable as being in an important call and being unable to see or hear the other person. Not surprising then, that issues with Teams calls are among the most common problems users call their helpdesk for. Having in depth insight into everything relevant going on at the user’s device, local network, ISP and Microsoft itself during the call is crucial for good Microsoft Teams Call quality support. To ensure a quick and adequate solution and to ensure your users get the most out of their Microsoft 365. But did you know that ‘bad calls’ are also an excellent indicator of other problems arising? Precisely because it is so noticeable!? Like the canary in the mine, bad calls can be early indicators of problems. Problems that might otherwise not have been noticed for a while but can have a big impact on productivity and satisfaction. Join this session by Christoph Adler to learn how true Microsoft Teams call quality analytics helped other organizations troubleshoot bad calls and identify and fix problems that impacted Teams calls or the use of Microsoft365 in general. See what it can do to keep your users happy and productive! In this session we will cover - Why CQD data alone is not enough to troubleshoot call problems - The importance of attributing call problems to the right call participant - What call quality analytics can do to help you quickly find, fix-, and prevent problems - Why having retrospective detailed insights matters - Real life examples of how others have used Microsoft Teams call quality monitoring to problem shoot problems with their ISP, network, device health and more.
