2. Innovation is the process of “creating
something new that creates value for your
organization and your customers”.
This tells us “WHAT needs to be done” but not
“HOW”.
Structured Innovation addresses the “HOW”.
The abstraction of knowledge from the human
experience and the structuring of that knowledge
for efficient and effective use.
3. Whether through discovery, creation of
something new or solving complex problems;
innovation does not exist unless the results are
delivered.
Innovation is no different than any other
business function; guesswork is just not good
enough any more.
Innovation must be structured through manageable
and measureable business processes.
4. Strategic Innovation: Broadly defined as the up-front
component required by leadership. Strategic
Innovation supports the creation of vision, sets the
direction for the future and aligns direction based on
enhanced understanding and management of internal
and external environmental conditions.
Tactical Innovation: Encompasses the methods, tools
and techniques that are needed to reach the
incremental milestones set by strategy. Tactical
Innovation brings structure and discipline to the
processes associated with identifying and solving
problems within managed timeframes.
5. Analysis - Includes evaluating the current state and
the ensuing challenges (visible and hidden).
Synthesis - Starting with what is learned during the
Analysis Phase, work is done to develop a
comprehensive solution that best fits the
organization and market demands.
Implementation - Leveraging the results of Analysis
and Synthesis, work is done to ensure that the
organization is aligned, the solution is delivered and
value is realize.
