Greek Mythology And The Ancient Greek History
Greece caught my interest because it is a country with myths, traditions, history and living culture.
This destination was chosen not only for its incomparable natural beauty, but because it is a magical
place, full of discoveries, charm and secrets. I have always been interested in the ancient Greek
history. The first time I learned about Greek mythology was in middle school. I enjoyed learning
about the Greek Gods such as Zeus, Athena, and Poseidon, the tales would amaze me. Even
watching the historical document and movies that recreate the Gods, pursued my interest more. So I
wanted to travel to a place of history and myths.
Greece contains numerous physical features, including mountains, lowlands, plains and coastal
areas. Beaches, rivers and large tracts of open land cover the surface of Greece as do forests and
lakes. Greece divides into three distinct geographical areas, and its islands contain differing
topography and even climates, hosting various species of trees, plants and animals. Some of the
Human and physical characteristic of Greece is Athens, which is the capital of Greece. It belongs to
the Prefecture of Attica, located at the centre of the Greek territory. Attica is actually a peninsula
surrounded by four high mountains that form a basin. In this basin, the city and suburbs of Athens
have been constructed. The southernmost point of Attica is Cape Sounion, on top of which an
ancient temple dedicated to god Poseidon is found. According to the myth, king

Madness : Henry Miller 's Odyssey
Liminal Madness: Henry Miller's Odyssey
First Essay
He wasn't crazy–he was mad. There's a difference.
–Henry Miller, The Colossus of Maroussi
In Victor and Edith Turner's work on "Pilgrimage as a Liminoid Phenomenon," they discuss French
folklorist and ethnographer Arnold van Gennep's rites of transition which correlates with which one
experiences on a pilgrimage. This process comprises of three stages. The first stage is separation to
separate oneself from home or the comfort of one's familiar environment; the second stage is limen
or margin which puts one in a state of liminal transition or threshold; the final and third stage is
aggregation which will be the central focus of this paper. Aggregation is when the passage is ...

This is evident in the onset of the book where he encountered a woman named Betty Ryan of whom
he'd met in Paris. She described Greece as if she were to paint it on a canvas which greatly intrigued
Miller. He heard about Greece from his Greek friend Durrell from post cards, but never really
ventured the idea of visiting. As a starving writer craving for inspiration, this individual tend to get
lost in her own story as Miller says, "...I discovered that I was near Olympia that she had gone astray
and I with her, but at that time it was just Greece to me, a world of light such as I had never dreamed
of an never hoped to see." This sparked his motivation to explore Greece and experience the awe
and wondrous joy that Betty Ryan felt. What compelled Miller to finally go on his trip was not a
casual talk about how nice Greece was, but rather, it was the fact that he was wandering and getting
lost within Ryan's story about Greece as if he was already there. Once Miller left France for Greece,
his journey did not consist of a plan of action nor is there a mindset of a structured liminal pilgrim.
His trip to Greece started out as nothing more than a mere vacation; a place to relax and clear his
mind for a new story. This mindset however, quickly changed as he arrived in Athens to meet his
friend Durrell. When they met, Miller learned how "enthusiastic, curious–minded [and] passionate"
Greek people are. He also said that passion is

The Importance Of Jurisdictionance Of Law
According to the ICJ statute jurisdiction of the court can only come into play once consent has been
established. this essay will thus discuss the different ways in which the court jurisdiction comes into
play and whether in light of this we can deduce the existence of an ICJ compulsory jurisdiction.
Under article 93 of the UNC all members of the UN are members of the ICJ however, this does not
confer on it jurisdiction, this will come into play only after a state have given their consent which is
done in various ways; First, Consent can be given by Special agreement or compromis Under article
36 of the Statute, this can be invoked after a dispute had arisen through ad hoc means or on the basis
of a reciprocal agreement. thus, states ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With regards reservations under article 36(3) of the ICJ, states can agree to the court's jurisdiction as
per article 36(2) but include reservations to limit the jurisdiction. Reservations can be in relation to a
treaty, in relation to matters of domestic jurisdiction, matters they have agreed to settle through other
means, or to disputes that occurred prior to a date, these reservations also are used via the principle
of reciprocity for example, in the Norwegian Loans case the court dismissed France application due
to its reservation regarding matters of national jurisdiction. This therefore demonstrates further that
the court jurisdiction is limited by the requirement of states sovereignty in conformity with the
customary law position. Further, the jurisdiction of the court is also limited by the fact that the other
states have to accept this obligation for the court to convene on a certain matter i.e. when one state
accepts the court's jurisdiction it can only bring a case against ICJ as long as the other state has
accepted this jurisdiction a state can also depend on article 36(5) to claim the court jurisdiction.
However, in the Nicaragua case the court rejected the US arguments against its Jurisdiction and held
that it still had jurisdiction under customary law principles and that both the UN charter and
customary law regulated the use of

Causes Of The Scientific Answer To War
The Scientific Answer to War On September 1, 1939, Germany under the control of Adolf Hitler
invaded the sovereign nation of Poland effectively starting the Second World War. By the end of the
conflict in 1945 an estimated 64 million people had died, more than the entire population of the
United Kingdom (Thomas). The end of the Second World War saw the end of the German Third
Reich, the founding of the United Nations, and both the United States and Russia becoming global
superpowers. The Second World War's start is one long debated: a continuation of the First World
War that theoretically ended in 1918, Japan seizing Manchuria, Germany's reoccupation of the
Rhineland, or Germany's invasion of Poland (World). No matter the start the Second ... Show more

Overall Vasquez makes a completing case, however, he undermines the importance that the
Versailles Treaty had in setting up Germany for the radical rhetoric of the Nazi Party. Germany was
a young country, their unification as an Empire occurred in 1871, and after the Great War, the allied
powers wanted revenge (SparkNotes). Reparation payments crippled the country, with Germany
having to pay tremendous amounts that destroyed its economy. With the country falling on hard
times the Nazis' message of redemption attractive enough to set Europe back down the road to war.
Which this paper does not take this into account, it jumps to the time where Hitler is already in
power. Looking at the cause of the war it is important to think about if the Treaty of Versailles were
less harsh on Germany, would the Nazi Party had enough traction to take over the country? The
paper does not completely forget the impact of the First World War, though, the paper explains that
attitudes towards World War I and how they affected the countries reactions. Vasquez sums this up
by stating, "Britain and France won the previous war, but did not see it as worth the cost ... in
Germany ... the war was lost, but seen as worth the cost" (Vasquez). This ideology allowed
hardliners to take control of the Germany first, then France. Another piece of the paper that was
great was when Vasquez states that if Hitler had handled

Essay On Mussolini
Mussolini came to power during World War 2 at a time when Italy was facing a lot of problems. He
was earlier a revolutionary socialist who wanted change in Italy as she had lost a lot of territory
during the war. Mussolini was the leading person in the Fascist party and later in 1922, he was
invited by the monarchy to became the Prime Minister of Italy. Mussolini was a right wing and
totalitarian leader, acquiring a strict control on every aspect of the public's life. (History.com , 1996)
Fascism is a form of government where the state has sovereign power and a strong person is heading
the police and army. It is a system where if you don't obey, you get punished. Mussolini was the first
leader to introduce this system. Mussolini's rise to power ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

To compensate, Mussolini improved the domestic industry and protected the worker's rights by
providing them with maternity and old age benefits. Moreover, he provided Italy with hydro, roads
and train system that reduce the impact. (Fascism) 'Dopolavour' was a leisure programme introduced
to get the people's minds off the hardships. Mussolini controlled the two level committee that
consisted of Italian Olympic teams and other professional players. When it comes to religion,
Mussolini had kept good ties with the Catholic Church. The pope and Mussolini helped each other.
The "Latent Pact", that the secretary of state signed with Mussolini, gave the church 750 million
Liras and other privileges, like Catechism and compulsory church hours at every academic institute.
As a result of this, the church named Mussolini, 'defender of peace' He made Catholicism the
official religion of Italy and banned contraceptives and divorce. But towards the end, both the
Catholic activists and Mussolini worsened their relations in greed of control. (Daily life under
Mussolini). Mussolini setup seven youth organisations known as 'ONB'. 'Gioventu Universiti
Fascista' was a university built on Fascist ideas and all students were expected to attend it. He
wanted to brainwash the youth in a way that they only followed the Fascist policy, hence serving to
ensure his ideology was furthered in future of Italy. Mussolini

The Security Council And International Law
Introduction
There has been difficulty in defining terrorism in international law due to "changes in terrorist
methodology and the lack of any precise definition of the term 'terrorism'" . The United Nations
General Assembly also condemned acts of terrorism without defining it. Therefore a functional
approach had been adopted through treaties dealing with the forms of terrorism considered to be
unacceptable. Although, it is agreed upon in international law that terrorism is unlawful, it is not
addressed whether it is a casus belli, an unlawful act that justifies a military response. There is a
general duty for states to act thoroughly to avert the performance of violent and terrorist acts within
its territory. However, this duty is breached when governments support terrorism or fails to
apprehend terrorists.
This essay seeks to analyse the justiciability of military force under the Security Council Resolution
in two different circumstances which will be seen under part (i) and part (ii) below.
The essay will firstly discuss the Security Council's (SC) role in maintaining international peace and
security through Article 2(4) and whether terrorism allows for the use of force under self–defence. It
will then explain how the use of force against a State can be balanced with the violation of a State 's
territorial integrity through customary law elements. The other sources of international law that
influence the justiciability of force against terrorism include jus cogens and

The Saint Of Saint Philomena As A Patron Saint
I have chosen St. Philomena to be my patron saint. Saint Philomena was born in Corfu Island,
Greece. Saint Philomena was born a Greek princess and lived for 13 years. She was believed to be a
Virgin Martyr. In 1802, the bones of a female between 13 and 15 were discovered in the catacomb
of St.Priscilla. They were believed to be her remains. They were discovered in May. St. Philomena
was found with three titles that said Lumena/ Paxte/ Cumfi.
When Philomena was 13 years old she took a vow of consecrated virginity. Philomena's father took
his family to the rump to make peace but emperor Diocletian fell in love with Philomena. When she
refused to marry him she was subjected to torture. St. Philomena was scrounged drowned with an
anchor attached to her and shot with arrows. The emperor attempted to kill St.Philomena 3 times but
she survived. Each time she was attacked angels took her side and healed her through a prayer.
Many saw how St.Philomena was treated and that she was still alive and they became Christians.
The emperor was determined to put an end to his shame and stop all the talking and had her
decapitated. All because she refused to lose her virginity to the Roman ruler, Diocletian. According
to my resources, Philomena died at 3:00 in the afternoon just like Jesus.
Immediately following, she appealed to Pope Gregory XVI to begin an examination for the patron
of Filmena which means daughter of light. On January 13, 1837, Pope Gregory XVI named

The Impact Of The Treaty Of Versailles On History
The treaty of Versailles meant different things to different groups of people. For France and
Britain,it was not particularly significant event because it had a main impact in the government and
not in the society. On the other hand, the United States had very significant events because the Great
depression caused chaos for the entire country. Ultimately, it had a greater impact on Germany
before because it left the economy devastated leading to the rise of Hitler. The treaty of Versailles
caused a tremendous impact on history because of the following reasons:
The settlement of Versailles was unfathomably significant as a result of the making of the League of

The Law Of The Sea
What do you understand by the 'Law of the Sea' in Public International Law? Critically discuss the
different principles, mechanisms of the Law of the Sea, and how they are applied.
Law of the Sea
The seas have long–standing recognition as routes linking all parts of the world and as a treasure full
of resources. This has given significant rise to established rules. The Law of the Sea central
principle is that Land rules over the Sea. A state will have the right on the sea, until a certain
distance, according to the parameters of its land territory. This will be the territorial sea which forms
part of a state's area subject to its authority, and any further range will be the high sea. The high seas
were not to be appropriated. International law made the high seas one of its main principle. States
have been demanding to extend the perimeter of the sea around their coasts to get more of the seas
under their jurisdiction. Under these demands, developments in International law have brought
about extended zones known as contiguous zone, continental shelf, exclusive economic zone etc.
The Law of the sea will govern these characterised zones and see if a state should be entitled to such
territorial sea extensions. The change of perception of states towards the seas have led to each state
having their own principles which gave rise to clashing principles, this has led to conferences to find
a solution to the problem. The conferences eventually led to four conventions on the law of

Failure Of Appeasement Research Paper
Failure of Appeasement was the main reason WW2 occurred. How far do you agree?
The policy of appeasement was used between 1935 and 1939 by the League Of Nations towards
Nazi Germany. It involved making concessions to Germany, allowing Hitler to do things such as
Anschluss and invade the Sudetenland. Many historians, including Winston Churchill, critisied
appeasement at the time. One way in which Appeasement failed and contributed to the outbreak of
WW2 was that it encouraged Hitler to follow his expansionist policies (Lebensraum). This is shown
by the risks Hitler was taking, hoping no repurcussions would occur. One example of this the
remiliterisation of the Rhineland in March 1936 which, directly contradicting the terms laid out in

The league was designed to democratically complete its main aims; enocouraging disarmament and
improving working conditions and upholding peace. The League failed in these aims and allowed
powerful nations to gain unlawful global strongholds. One example of this was the italian invasion
of Corfu in 1923, the League failed to enforce sanctions and allowed mussolini to demand
compensation and an apology from greece. Mussolini could see the League was weak and later
invaded abysinnia in 1935. The league, once again, failed to act and the world lost confidence in its
ability to keep it safe.
The nazi soviet pact was signed between germany and russia, agreeing to complete non–aggression
and the divison of poland. This meant Hitler could focus on the western front and gave him
confidence in winning the war. This meant the likelyhood of war breaking out was massivly
increased.
Overall, I believe the faliure of appeasement isnt the main reason for the outbreak of the second
world war because it bought Britain time to prepare for conflict. The failure of the League Of
Nations to prevent expansionist foreign powers was to blame. It didnt enforce sanctions on Italy,
Germany and Japan (as seen in the manchurian crisis) and allowed them to gain the confidence to

The Importance Of International Law
International law is the set of rules generally regarded and accepted as binding in relations between
states, to the maintenance of international peace and security. Although, some of the country may
agree to definition of international norms, there are some countries that does not agree with the
United Nation international laws that generally accepted as international norms. Even though, some
country does not agree with UN international laws, because of the powerful nation that are the
member of the nation, the Security Council can enforce their international law via various ways
toward a state or individual; and the International court of Justice (ICJ) also give advisory opinion to

Security Council is key decision making UN principle organ that create and apply international law.
Security Council mandate is to maintain international peace and security; to develop friendly

The Corfu Incident and the League of Nations
In 1923 the situation in Europe was still unstable from the war. Simple occasions could cause big
problems for each nation. On august 27, 1923 Enrico Tellini, Major Luigi Corti, Lieutenant Luigi
Bonacini and an Albanian interpreter entered Kakavia which is near the town of Ioannina, within
Greek territory. Referring to some Italian and Alabamian sources these 4 men got killed, but they did
not get robbed. This action roused the Italians (Michael Brecher & Jonathan Wilkenfeld: A study of
crisis).
In Italy Anti–Greek demonstrations broke out. Italians asked for a complete official apology from
the Greek government, military honors for the bodies of the victims, full honors by the Greek fleet
to the Italian fleet which would be sent to Piraeus (Greek harbor), a solemn funeral in the catholic
cathedral in Athens in the presence of all the Greek Government, punishment for the guilty, an
indemnity of 50 million lire within five days and a strict inquiry, to be carried out quickly with the
assistance of the Royal Italian military. Also Italy demanded that Greece must reply within 24 hours

Greece replied to Italy in 30 of August in 1923, accepting only 4 of the 7 Italian statements above.

Mussolini's Foreign Policy
MUSSOLINI'S FOREIGN POLICY
In the early days of Mussolini's regime (he came to power in 1922), Italian foreign policy seemed
rather confused: Mussolini knew what he wanted, which was 'to make Italy great, respected and
feared.' But he was not sure how to achieve this, apart from agitating for a revision of the 1919
peace settlement in Italy's favour. At first he seemed to think an adventurous foreign policy was his
best line of action, hence the Corfu Incident and the occupation of Fiume in 1923. By an agreement
signed at Rapallo in 1920, Fiume was to be a 'free city', used jointly by Italy and Yugoslavia; after
Italian troops moved in, Yugoslavia agreed that it should belong to Italy. After these early successes,
Mussolini became ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The League condemened Italy as an aggressor and applied ecnomic sanctions; but these were
useless because they did not include banning sales of oil and coal.
4) when the Spanish civil war took place in 1936, Mussolini sent extensive help to Franco, the right
wing Nationalist leader, hoping to establish a third fascist state in Europe and to get naval bases in
Spain from which he could threaten France. His justification was that he wanted to prevent the
spread of Communism.
An understanding was reached with Hitler known as the Rome– Berlin axis. M said this was a line
drawn between Rome and Berlin, around which 'alll European states that desired peace can revolve'
In 1937, Italy joined the Anti–Comintern Pact with Germany and Japan, in which all three pledged
to stand side by side against Communism. The reversal of his previous policy and friendship with
Germany was not universally popular in Italy and disillusionment with Mussolini began to spread.
5) his popularity revived temporarily with his part in the Munich agreement of September 1938
which seemed to have secured peace. But Mussolini failed to draw the right conclusions from his
own people's relief (that most of them did not want another war) and committed yet another form of
aggression.
6) In April 1939, Italian troops suddenly occupied Albania, meeting very little resistance. This was a
pointless operation, since Albania was already under Italian economic control,

To What Extent Was Mussolini's Foreign Policy a Failure...
How far do you agree that Mussolini's foreign policy in the years 1933–41 was a complete failure?
'I want to make Italy great, respected and feared' said Mussolini in 1925. Mussolini's foreign policy
included a number of positive and negative factors which all contributed to the rise, and the
ultimately to the downfall, of both Mussolini and the Italian empire. Mussolini was intent on
revising the conditions of the Treaty of Versailles and was very keen to show off Italy's power. He
felt that Italy had been hard done by at the end of world war one and sought to claim what he felt
Italy deserved. Mussolini's foreign policy clearly reflected his ambition to reinstate the Italian
empire.

Mussolini believed that forming an alliance with Britain and France would persuade them to hand
over the Mediterranean to Italy:
'It is destined that the Mediterranean should become ours, that Rome should be the directing city of
civilisations in the whole of Western Europe.'
However, despite the hype it causes back home, the truth was the four–power Pact was pointless. As
a result Mussolini's secret attempt to create an empire crumble.
In order for Mussolini to create an empire he needed Germany to remain weak, but once Hitler came
to power, Germany grew much too fast for Mussolini. When the pair met in 1934 Mussolini realised
that Hitler wasn't going to let Mussolini take over. Hitler's eagerness to expand was now apparent
despite breaking the terms of the Treaty of Versailles. In April 1935, Britain, France and Italy, the
wartime allies, attended the Stresa conference to discuss measures against Hitler, after he broke the
terms of the Treaty. They all agreed to band together and prevent further expansion attempts by
Hitler, yet the agreement was never signed. But like Germany, Mussolini was keen on expanding the
Italian empire and in October 1935 Mussolini invaded Abyssinia.
The invasion of Abyssinia was Mussolini's revenge. He was determined to take revenge for the
humiliating defeat at Adowa in 1896. The war was fought on a large scale despite the fact in reality
it was a reasonably small–scale war. As a

28 October 2011, Assignment #3 Rules and norms derive from their sources. The sources articulate
what the law is and where it can be found. The sources of international law can be found in article
38 of the Statute of the International Court of Justice. Article 38 of the Statute of the ICJ states: 'The

submitted to it, shall apply: a. international conventions, whether general or particular, establishing

However, this claim has been made with varying finality. The case states that ' For the purpose of
deciding whether the claim is well founded in law, the principle jura novit curia signifies that the
Court is not solely dependent on the argument of the parties before it with respect to the applicable
law (cf. 'Lotus', P.C.I.J., Series A, No. 10, p. 31), so that the absence of one party has less impact.'
This would mean for the opinion of the court that although one party is absent there is no question
of a judgment automatically in favour of the party appearing, since the Court is required to 'satisfy
itself' that that party's claim is well founded in fact and law. This essay shows that the Nicaragua
cases relies on all kinds of sources of international law. It shows us that law can be found in more
than one place and that there can be more rules who are on the same issue but differs from source
e.g. rules of customary law and treaty law as stated in the case. So in order to make clear judgments
we need to look at all sources of law very carefully.

Mussolini consolidation of fascist power in Italy in the years 1922–1929 could have been mainly
due to the use of force and intimidation. However this was not a straightforward process, since
fascism was a new thing. In the years 1922 to January 1925 marked the transition from the liberal
parliamentary system to the fascist state. Like many political transitions, it was an untidy and
complicated process. Although from the start Mussolini's intentions were quite difficult to establish,

of your life and the song Diplo– Revolution (absence remix) is a song that can ignite those
moments. This song can be classified in the dubstep genre but because the original song is
considered to be EDM (Electric Dance Music) it is mixed up between the two genres. Kai (Alessia
De Gasperis Brigante) is the song writer and vocalist. She describes a value that she wants people to
hear through her lyrics. Kai was introduced to EDM by writing and singing for a very popular DJ
named Diplo (Thomas Pentz). Kai stimulates feelings and emotion in the song Diplo–Revolution,
she gives a different approach to EDM listeners, and she rises to become a more ... Show more

EDM is not a genre that people hear or talk about on a daily basis but given the information above
you know a little bit more about this type of music. Not all EDM is considered to be about sex,
drugs, and alcohol actually in most circumstances there are EDM songs that have no meaning at all.
This particular song makes people think about what they are listening to instead of just listening to
the melody of the music. The song Diplo–Revolution (absence remix) has ignited a very special
moment in my life and these memories have the potential to last as long as I

The War Of The World War I
For centuries, governments dreamed and had an almost universal hope, about the raise of inter–state
systems, to preserve peace amongst potentially antagonistic states;
Unfortunately, what statesmen had not imagined was that the world had to witness to the slaughter
of the First World War to achieve such dream.
However, precisely because of the the devastation and chaos caused by the war, the establishment of
a general association of states was crucial, and needed to be constructed as quickly as possible.
In addition, as World War I pointed out a fundamental flaw in The Balance of Power System,
therefore, its malfunctions could no longer be considered tolerable and appropriate as the basis for
international security (Nye, Welch, 2013: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

However, it was the outbreak of war in Europe in 1914, which confirmed that European diplomacy
lacked any organised machinery for international co–operation.
In the first decade of the 20th century; with the crucial urgency and the insistence of the President of
the US, Wilson, who repeatedly proposed such an organization through his so–called Fourteen
Points, an overall framework of the League was rising.
At the beginning of 1919, during a session of The Paris Peace Conference, the creation of the
League became an 'integral part' of a peace treaty; and finally, after innumerable negotiations, with
the Treaty of Versailles, the 28 of June 1919, the League of Nations arise, with 41 members, holding
their first meeting the 16 of January 1920 in Paris.
With this coalition, all the great nations and some medium–sized powers, would have gathered to
ensure security and to create a mechanism to prevent, resolve, or stop disputes and wars. Most
importantly, the League also introduced "the collective security", a system to guarantee the
territorial integrity and political independence of the states involved; where both economic and
military sanctions would have been used, by the members of the league, to compel states to interrupt
any dispute.
In substance, under the collective security arrangement, non aggressive countries would

The Geography Of Greece
What is a peninsula in Europe featuring over 2,000 islands? This is no other than Greece. It has been
geographically shaped by tectonic plates as well as grabens occurring previously in its age.
Consequently, the land is rugged and hilly. In addition to geography, the Greeks have contributed
immensely to our world's culture. In Greece, you can find sculptures, such as the intricately
designed Discobolus. Arts and mathematics have also bloomed there due to people such as
Archimedes, Aristotle, and Euclid. Throughout this essay, Greece's location, shape, size,
surrounding countries, enclosing bodies of water, landforms, climate, vegetation, as well as
government, will be portrayed. Found in Southern Europe, Greece's exact location is 390 ... Show

Although they love to make jokes with you Turkish people are very nice and respectful. The
Azerbaijani pretends to give you your dondurma but then snatches it from you with his big spoon
and puts a little on your nose and screw with you. You get frustrated when he doesn't give it to you,
but after it's just a really big joke. Now Turkey isn't just about dessert, although they have amazing
immemorial Turkish desserts. Let's talk some meaty foods in Turkey. There's entrees with meat all
over the world, but not like Turkey. They have lambs which are good, but even better is the Turkish
kabobs you'll find them anywhere. The Dolma is the best meat entree i've ever had anywhere,
honestly, it's a bit spicy, but not too spicy but just right to give it a little kick. Another amazing meal
is the KoFte, its lamb that comes with their Turkish sauce it comes in a very hot plate with a lot of
steam coming out of it on top is very cold yogurt with some water added to it to liquefy it more.
This idea is brilliant because when you're eating a very hot thing with something right after it
smooth and cold it's fascinating. There is nothing that I myself can compare to the Dolma, it is a
very unique dish in Turkey. Whilst this is true, many people say, "Yo dude, New York pizza is so rad

In 1923, contrary to League rules, the French and the Belgium's invaded the Ruhr – Germany's most
important industrial zone. Within Europe, France was seen as a senior League member – like Britain
– and the anti–German feeling that was felt throughout Europe allowed both France and Belgium to
break their own rules as were introduced by the League. Here were two League members clearly
breaking League rules and nothing was done about it. For the League to enforce its will, it needed
the support of its major backers in Europe, Britain and France. Yet France was one of the invaders
and Britain was a major supporter of her, so nothing was to be done about it. This incident was
crucial, as these two countries were involved in breaking their own rules and consequently set this
example for others in future years. c) The Geneva Protocol Another clear failure was the Geneva
Protocol in 1924, which said that if two members were in dispute they would have to ask the League
to sort out the conflict and afterwards accept the council's decision. Before the Protocol could be
signed a new conservative government appeared in Britain and refused to sign it, as it feared that
Britain would be forced to agree to something that was not in its own interests. The Protocol, which
was made to strengthen the League, ended up weakening it and, once again showing how countries
were only worried about their problems and not in solving the ones of other countries. d)

Emigration was directly linked to the situation in the country of origin. Especially from 1820
onwards Malta had formidable problems with redundant population. Peace in the country developed
occupancies, which led to unemployment throughout the country. Although the country was afflicted
by several diseases like the plague in 1813 and cholera this did little to curb the unstoppable growth
in population. Many inhabitants saw emigration, as the only possible solution to avoid the ... Show

2.1. Algeria For many Maltese the migration to Algeria was a logical choice. The main factors in
decision making were mostly language and short distance. Moreover when French conquered
Algeria, Maltese saw it as an opportunity to work as interpreters, soldiers and suppliers of all types
of goods. This explains why they settled mostly in eastern Algeria. (Prochaska, 1990) As mentioned
earlier migration of Maltese to Algeria started soon after the first French military conquest. This was
due to very low and poor living conditions in Malta and in order to find a better life oversees. Most
Maltese settled in Constantine, Bone, Philippeville but also in small towns and villages of the
Constantinois (Cassar, 2000). Amongst the other European migrants Maltese were one of the poorest
nations. Many of them would arrive with no belongings, in most cases not even owning shoes. Their
social status also differed from the other settling groups in the colony. French elite questioned how
European they were in fact considered them less European. One of the reasons was the Maltese
language, which was strongly influenced by Arabic conquerors who ruled Malta for over two
centuries. Not even the fact that they were of a catholic faith could improve their

The Failure Of The League Of Nations
"The League of Nations was doomed To failure from the start" Adam Jenner Many may believe that
the League of Nations was doomed to failure as soon as the doors of their Geneva headquarters were
opened; many may say that it was built on unstable foundations; that the very idea of it was a grave
misjudgment by the powers that were. Indeed it is true that the League of Nations, when it was set
up was marred with many fundamental flaws. The League of Nations was formed after the end of
the First World War. It was an idea that President Wilson introduced as an international police force
to maintain peace and to ensure the devastating atrocities like the First World War ever happening
again. The principle mission of the League of Nations was to maintain World Peace. Their failure as
the international peacekeeping organization to maintain world peace brought the outbreak of Second
World War. Their failure in policing and preventing peace in settling disputes throughout Europe,
erupted into the most devastating war ever. Through my analysis of the failures of the League of
Nations to maintain world peace, my arguments will demonstrate the understandings of the reasons
and events that created the most devastating environment for the Second World War.
When the league first started everyone had different ideas of what organization it should be and
what aims it should have. The league was based on the covenant a set of 26 articles or rules which

The Successes and Failures of the Treaty of Versailles in Addressing the Causes of Conflict and
Restoring Peace and Normality
To evaluate the successes and failures of the Treaty of Versailles, we need to address the terms of the
Treaty as well as to inspect the consequences. The First World War had exposed Germany as a
strong and aggressive power, and was viewed as a threat to peace by the victorious powers, so the
terms of the Treaty of Versailles, which was designed to address the causes of conflict as well as
restoring peace and normality, although including other peace measures, focused on harnessing and

It also created a feeling of increased international understanding and therefore security, allowing 15
major powers to sign the Kellog–Briand Pact, which stated that the participating nations would
reject 'war as an instrument of national policy'. On the other hand, the League was not successful in
stopping conflict altogether. For example, despite the League's efforts, they could not stop Poland
from annexing Vilna or Italy from occupying Corfu in 1923. And it was difficult for the permanent
members of the League to put aside their self interest to act as a whole to preserve peace and
normality. The problem was that there was no enforcing power, and the members did not always
agree. Evidence of this was the complete failure to adhere to the Geneva Protocol, which was
designed to unite all league members as a collective military power in case of unprovoked
aggression. Although France showed strong support for this, Britain vetoed it arguing that this
would involve Britain in all conflicts, big and small. This created a problem in enforcing the peace
settlement. Additionally, the League failed to establish a World Disarmament scheme, rejected
because of national self interest from its members. Eventually Germany left the League of Nations
because she did not receive equal

Personal Narrative: My Gender Identity
My Gender Identity
Social construction of gender to myself applies to the "normalcy" of girls are feminine while the
boys are masculine but throughout my years I have learned to challenge it. Through various
institutions starting with my family I have learned that my gender is feminine however through
other influences I have not fully become a girl y girl as you would call it. Gender is considered to be
on a micro level it is more personal level due to the fact it is your own identity what I according to

Most of this that ads have gotten worse to objectifying women in a demeaning way. Ads tell women
subconsciously how we should look even though the women portrayed in these magazines do not
look that way due to photoshopped. Men do not live in a world where their body is criticized unlike
girls this produces a fear in women of aging. This leads to low self esteem, depression, eating
disorders. In these ads femininity is devalued while masculinity is valued by making them bigger
and stronger. According to the film, "Killing Me Softly" these ads present that sex is suppose to
belong to the young and the beautiful that leaves a large majority of women who deserve to feel
sexty in every aspect therefore they just see themselves as objects. Another important idea is that
feminine qualities are devalued such as empathy and compassion wheres masculinity is linked with
violence in these ads and are praised. On the other hand some advantages my gender receives is that
it is acceptable for women to wear cosmetics on opposed to masculinity. Another advantage is that
in the United States in the family court law women are favored more than men when going through
a divorce. Such as custody of the children and the fair division of family assets, which this was not
the case before. Mentioned by in the film, "Midwestern Women" after a long struggle challenging

The International Court Of Justice
INTRODUCTION: International court of justice is a principal judicial organ of United Nations
organization and is also known as world court which was established in 1945 by UN charter and
began work in 1946. ICJ is successor of permanent court of international justice which was
dissolved after the 2nd world war. ICJ is located in The Hague, Netherlands. In judicial settlement,
ICJ occupies a prominent position and decides legal issues of general importance. ICJ comprises of
fifteen judges who are elected for nine years by the general assembly and the security council,
regardless of their nationality. JURISDICTION OF ICJ : According to Article 93 of the UN charter,
all members of UN can automatically be the parties to the court. For non–members states, article 93
also provides the right to the parties of the court if they wish to and willing to be bound by the
jurisdiction of court. For example, Switzerland used this method to become the party of the court in
1948. The court has jurisdiction over the states when the states accept the jurisdiction of the court.
So the court doesn't have compulsory jurisdiction over the states, since there cannot be a central
political authority over the sovereign states. Therefore, no international tribunal can exercise
jurisdiction over the sovereign states without their consent. The jurisdiction of ICJ is based upon the
consent of the parties. The principle of consensual basis of the jurisdiction of ICJ

The Wabigoon Subprovince is part of the Superior Province, an Archean age craton composed of E–

The structural relationship between the Wabigoon and Quetico subprovinces during deformation in
Canadian rocks relevant to the study area has been discussed by Czeck and Poulsen (2010).
The first deformation event (D1) resulted in folding of volcanic rocks in the Wabigoon and Wawa
subprovinces (Hooper and Ojakangas, 1971; Hudleston, 1976; Hudleston et al., 1987; Jirsa et al.,
1992) and locally within the Quetico subprovince (Bauer, 1985b). Most D1 folds in the Wawa
terrane in MN rarely display axial–planar cleavage, with Bauer (1985b), Hooper and Ojakangas
(1971), Hudleston (1976), and Jirsa et al. (1992) having identified cleavage (S1) development
locally in the Vermillion greenstone belt (Peterson, 2001). In the Wabigoon terrane, D1 resulted in
recumbent folding that overturned the stratigraphic sequence and the first regional schistosity
(Poulsen et al., 1980). S1 is generally subparallel to the layering in the metavolcanic and
metasedimentary rocks, and a gneissic foliation attributed to D1 is well developed in gneissic domes
(Czeck and Poulsen, 2010). Although D1 likely created significant thrust or oblique faulting, direct

Causes Of The Fall Of Venice
What caused the rise of Venice and what caused the fall? Venice rose to power during the eleventh .
Venice didn't start out as a massive trading and naval power and it certainly didn't last forever. The
powerhouse of Italy did not simply "spring to life." Over the course of seven centuries, the core of
what we renounce as Venice is applied. Whether that be government, trade, or religion.
Venice came to be at approximately 400 A.D. The core purpose of Venice was to serve as a refuge
for people to hide from the Germanic invaders after Rome fell. After invaders from the mainland
kept attacking, some people realized that it was safer to live in a marshy location; invaders had
neither access nor the knowledge to travel to Venice. The invaders helped Venice become a city,
because it forced people to seek refuge there, and its population grew before it was decided a city.
Fortunately for Venice, it was isolated from the rest of the Italian states; and did not have political
pressure and other issues states further inland dealt with. As a result, Venice had time to develop as a
city and focus on the Eastern trade, and a naval force. The separation of Venice from the remainder
of other city–states proved to be valuable in the upcoming centuries.
It wasn't until the eleventh century when Venice had the full trading capability. The Byzantine
empire gave Venice unlimited access to trade throughout their territory when they helped the
Byzantine drive off the Normands. Venice didn't

The exploration history of the McAra property provided here was compiled from Randall (2007),

Exploration Exploration in the region started in 1910s and was focused on Ag–Co veins, with no
significant silver deposits haven been discovered in the McAra area. Copper–zinc (VMS–type?)
mineralized zones were discovered in Archean volcanic rocks in the southern part of North Williams
Township by Metron Explorations Limited in 1970. The mineralized zone and surrounding area
were evaluated with a HLEM survey and drilled with 2 DDHs (totaling 61.3 m) that did not
intercept significantly mineralized rocks (Willars, 1971). In 1982, perceived Witwatersrand–type
gold deposit potential caused a major staking rush in the area, with exploration focused on
conglomeratic units in the Paleoproterozoic Lorrain Formation of the Cobalt Group that forms the
upper part of the Huronian Supergroup. Exploration was unsuccessful and the claims were quickly
abandoned. Mid–1980s: Falconbridge Nickel Falconbridge Nickel explored for base metal VMS
deposits in the mid–1980s in the nearby Sheard, Browning and Amyot townships. The highest

Etruscan Culture
Internet Exploration Project 2
The Etruscan culture is quite a mystery to scholars. All that remains of this civilization are the tombs
of their dead and the artwork that resides within these tombs. From what has been gathered and
interpreted, the Etruscans belief in life after death was similar to that of the Egyptians. They
believed death was a journey to afterlife, a physical location, and that the deceased would require
the same type of goods and materials as in the world of the living. Therefore, within their tombs
they would paint scenes of celebration, hunting and religious rituals, as well as beds, livestock, and
even slippers. Etruscan funerary art is highly representative of their civilization with their paintings

You see men standing in a boat on a river, fishing and hunting birds. Perhaps this is the telling of a
fishing trip the deceased took part in in life. These paintings device the essence of the Etruscans
culture in pursuit of easing the transition to afterlife. With scenes of good memories it may have
been thought death wouldn't be so scary.
With today's modern culture, death is a private event of mourning and grieving. We no longer as a
community gather to celebrate the life of a late neighbor, instead this event is intended for family
and close friends. We either bury our loved ones in a local cemetery or have their remains cremated
and kept in an urn for viewing. The rituals performed by individuals in the event of a death have
become superficial with a lack of meaning. The size of a headstone is only determined by how much
money you have. The extravagance of the wake or any type of ceremony performed is determined
by how much money you have. And for those who can't even afford a burial and opt for cremation,
the elegance of the urn used to hold the ashes of your loved one is once again determined by how
much money you have. Death has become an event of profit, for if you truly love your departed
relative you'll buy the most expensive casket or the biggest

The Family Tree Short Story
The Family Tree
Our story begins in Greece, many years ago. A baby was born in the city of Athens. Her name was
Oakley. Oakley had brown, long hair with big hazel eyes. Her parents adored her.
Eighteen years passed by and there was a big riot going on in Athens in protest of Zeus letting
Hades capture Persephone. Zeus wanted to teach the citizens of Athens a lesson by sending them
terrible storms. Innocent Oakley didn't know about the threats from Zeus, but her parents did.
Her parents didn't want Oakley to fear of the storm coming their way, so they didn't tell her. Her
parents also didn't want to leave Athens themselves, they knew they didn't have the energy to do so.
In result, they had to try and get Oakley to move by herself, without letting her know of the great
dangers ahead. Oakley was in her room, sewing a new blanket for her bed. Her mother called for her
to come downstairs. So of course, she made her way downstairs and saw her parents sitting on the
couch, with a depressed look on their face. "What's wrong?" said Oakley. "Honey, we have some
news for you. We are sending you off to Corfu." said her mother. Oakleys face turned red. She
seemed like she had smoke coming out of her ears. "Are you trying to get rid of me?" said Oakley.
"What did I ever do to you?" "Nothing, nothing," said her father. "This is for your own safety
darling." "What is going on? I'm completely happy here in Athens! You must tell me why you are
shipping me off to another city!" said

The Paris Peace Settlement, 1919-1920
CHAPTER X
THE PARIS PEACE SETTLEMENT, 1919–1920 The military disaster which befell the Mid–
European Confederacy in the autumn of 1918 was the signal for immediate political revolutions
within its members. The revolutions, though precipitated in several instances by Socialists, proved
to be uniformly mild and more conducive to democratic nationalism than to any basic social change.
In Germany Prince Maximilian, the Chancellor on whom the Emperor William II imposed the
unpleasant task of opening peace negotiations with the Allies, sought to allay domestic unrest by
promising in October a number of constitutional reforms. But the more he promised in the way of
reform, the louder grew the demands for an overturn of the whole monarchical ... Show more

In the imperial Dual Monarchy of Austria–Hungary, the revolution of 1918–1919 was not only
democratic but disruptive. In vain the Emperor–King Charles I published a conciliatory manifesto
on October 16, 1918 promising to reorganize the monarchy on a federal basis so that each of its
nationalities would possess democratic autonomy. By this time it was too late for compromise.
Leaders of the subject nationalities were resolved on achieving a separation from the Habsburg
Empire, and the collapse of the Austro–Hungarian armies removed the means which Charles might
have employed to enforce obedience. On October 18, a group of Czech patriots, including Thomas
Masaryk and Eduard Benes, proclaimed at Paris the deposition of Charles of Habsburg as King of
Bohemia and the independence of the "Czechoslovakian Repubic." Ten days later, a self–constituted
Czech "national council" took over the government at Prague, and the next day a similar "national
council" in the Slovak provinces of Hungary voted for a union of the Slovaks with the Czechs in a
new "Czechoslovakia." A national assembly was speedily convened at Prague. In November it
ratified what had been done and chose Masaryk as President of the Republic, with Benes as foreign
minister, and eventually in February 1920, after protracted debates, it adoted a democratic

  • 6. Greek Mythology And The Ancient Greek History Greece caught my interest because it is a country with myths, traditions, history and living culture. This destination was chosen not only for its incomparable natural beauty, but because it is a magical place, full of discoveries, charm and secrets. I have always been interested in the ancient Greek history. The first time I learned about Greek mythology was in middle school. I enjoyed learning about the Greek Gods such as Zeus, Athena, and Poseidon, the tales would amaze me. Even watching the historical document and movies that recreate the Gods, pursued my interest more. So I wanted to travel to a place of history and myths. Greece contains numerous physical features, including mountains, lowlands, plains and coastal areas. Beaches, rivers and large tracts of open land cover the surface of Greece as do forests and lakes. Greece divides into three distinct geographical areas, and its islands contain differing topography and even climates, hosting various species of trees, plants and animals. Some of the Human and physical characteristic of Greece is Athens, which is the capital of Greece. It belongs to the Prefecture of Attica, located at the centre of the Greek territory. Attica is actually a peninsula surrounded by four high mountains that form a basin. In this basin, the city and suburbs of Athens have been constructed. The southernmost point of Attica is Cape Sounion, on top of which an ancient temple dedicated to god Poseidon is found. According to the myth, king ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Madness : Henry Miller 's Odyssey Liminal Madness: Henry Miller's Odyssey First Essay He wasn't crazy–he was mad. There's a difference. –Henry Miller, The Colossus of Maroussi In Victor and Edith Turner's work on "Pilgrimage as a Liminoid Phenomenon," they discuss French folklorist and ethnographer Arnold van Gennep's rites of transition which correlates with which one experiences on a pilgrimage. This process comprises of three stages. The first stage is separation to separate oneself from home or the comfort of one's familiar environment; the second stage is limen or margin which puts one in a state of liminal transition or threshold; the final and third stage is aggregation which will be the central focus of this paper. Aggregation is when the passage is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is evident in the onset of the book where he encountered a woman named Betty Ryan of whom he'd met in Paris. She described Greece as if she were to paint it on a canvas which greatly intrigued Miller. He heard about Greece from his Greek friend Durrell from post cards, but never really ventured the idea of visiting. As a starving writer craving for inspiration, this individual tend to get lost in her own story as Miller says, "...I discovered that I was near Olympia that she had gone astray and I with her, but at that time it was just Greece to me, a world of light such as I had never dreamed of an never hoped to see." This sparked his motivation to explore Greece and experience the awe and wondrous joy that Betty Ryan felt. What compelled Miller to finally go on his trip was not a casual talk about how nice Greece was, but rather, it was the fact that he was wandering and getting lost within Ryan's story about Greece as if he was already there. Once Miller left France for Greece, his journey did not consist of a plan of action nor is there a mindset of a structured liminal pilgrim. His trip to Greece started out as nothing more than a mere vacation; a place to relax and clear his mind for a new story. This mindset however, quickly changed as he arrived in Athens to meet his friend Durrell. When they met, Miller learned how "enthusiastic, curious–minded [and] passionate" Greek people are. He also said that passion is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Importance Of Jurisdictionance Of Law According to the ICJ statute jurisdiction of the court can only come into play once consent has been established. this essay will thus discuss the different ways in which the court jurisdiction comes into play and whether in light of this we can deduce the existence of an ICJ compulsory jurisdiction. Under article 93 of the UNC all members of the UN are members of the ICJ however, this does not confer on it jurisdiction, this will come into play only after a state have given their consent which is done in various ways; First, Consent can be given by Special agreement or compromis Under article 36 of the Statute, this can be invoked after a dispute had arisen through ad hoc means or on the basis of a reciprocal agreement. thus, states ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With regards reservations under article 36(3) of the ICJ, states can agree to the court's jurisdiction as per article 36(2) but include reservations to limit the jurisdiction. Reservations can be in relation to a treaty, in relation to matters of domestic jurisdiction, matters they have agreed to settle through other means, or to disputes that occurred prior to a date, these reservations also are used via the principle of reciprocity for example, in the Norwegian Loans case the court dismissed France application due to its reservation regarding matters of national jurisdiction. This therefore demonstrates further that the court jurisdiction is limited by the requirement of states sovereignty in conformity with the customary law position. Further, the jurisdiction of the court is also limited by the fact that the other states have to accept this obligation for the court to convene on a certain matter i.e. when one state accepts the court's jurisdiction it can only bring a case against ICJ as long as the other state has accepted this jurisdiction a state can also depend on article 36(5) to claim the court jurisdiction. However, in the Nicaragua case the court rejected the US arguments against its Jurisdiction and held that it still had jurisdiction under customary law principles and that both the UN charter and customary law regulated the use of ... Causes Of The Scientific Answer To War The Scientific Answer to War On September 1, 1939, Germany under the control of Adolf Hitler invaded the sovereign nation of Poland effectively starting the Second World War. By the end of the conflict in 1945 an estimated 64 million people had died, more than the entire population of the United Kingdom (Thomas). The end of the Second World War saw the end of the German Third Reich, the founding of the United Nations, and both the United States and Russia becoming global superpowers. The Second World War's start is one long debated: a continuation of the First World War that theoretically ended in 1918, Japan seizing Manchuria, Germany's reoccupation of the Rhineland, or Germany's invasion of Poland (World). No matter the start the Second ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Overall Vasquez makes a completing case, however, he undermines the importance that the Versailles Treaty had in setting up Germany for the radical rhetoric of the Nazi Party. Germany was a young country, their unification as an Empire occurred in 1871, and after the Great War, the allied powers wanted revenge (SparkNotes). Reparation payments crippled the country, with Germany having to pay tremendous amounts that destroyed its economy. With the country falling on hard times the Nazis' message of redemption attractive enough to set Europe back down the road to war. Which this paper does not take this into account, it jumps to the time where Hitler is already in power. Looking at the cause of the war it is important to think about if the Treaty of Versailles were less harsh on Germany, would the Nazi Party had enough traction to take over the country? The paper does not completely forget the impact of the First World War, though, the paper explains that attitudes towards World War I and how they affected the countries reactions. Vasquez sums this up by stating, "Britain and France won the previous war, but did not see it as worth the cost ... in Germany ... the war was lost, but seen as worth the cost" (Vasquez). This ideology allowed hardliners to take control of the Germany first, then France. Another piece of the paper that was great was when Vasquez states that if Hitler had handled ... • 26. The Security Council And International Law Introduction There has been difficulty in defining terrorism in international law due to "changes in terrorist methodology and the lack of any precise definition of the term 'terrorism'" . The United Nations General Assembly also condemned acts of terrorism without defining it. Therefore a functional approach had been adopted through treaties dealing with the forms of terrorism considered to be unacceptable. Although, it is agreed upon in international law that terrorism is unlawful, it is not addressed whether it is a casus belli, an unlawful act that justifies a military response. There is a general duty for states to act thoroughly to avert the performance of violent and terrorist acts within its territory. However, this duty is breached when governments support terrorism or fails to apprehend terrorists. This essay seeks to analyse the justiciability of military force under the Security Council Resolution in two different circumstances which will be seen under part (i) and part (ii) below. The essay will firstly discuss the Security Council's (SC) role in maintaining international peace and security through Article 2(4) and whether terrorism allows for the use of force under self–defence. It will then explain how the use of force against a State can be balanced with the violation of a State 's territorial integrity through customary law elements. Saint Philomena was born a Greek princess and lived for 13 years. She was believed to be a Virgin Martyr. In 1802, the bones of a female between 13 and 15 were discovered in the catacomb of St.Priscilla. They were believed to be her remains. They were discovered in May. St. Philomena was found with three titles that said Lumena/ Paxte/ Cumfi. When Philomena was 13 years old she took a vow of consecrated virginity. Philomena's father took his family to the rump to make peace but emperor Diocletian fell in love with Philomena. When she refused to marry him she was subjected to torture. St. Philomena was scrounged drowned with an anchor attached to her and shot with arrows. The emperor attempted to kill St.Philomena 3 times but she survived. Each time she was attacked angels took her side and healed her through a prayer. Many saw how St.Philomena was treated and that she was still alive and they became Christians. The emperor was determined to put an end to his shame and stop all the talking and had her decapitated. All because she refused to lose her virginity to the Roman ruler, Diocletian. According to my resources, Philomena died at 3:00 in the afternoon just like Jesus. Immediately following, she appealed to Pope Gregory XVI to begin an examination for the patron of Filmena which means daughter of light. On January 13, 1837, Pope Gregory XVI named ... Critically discuss the different principles, mechanisms of the Law of the Sea, and how they are applied. Law of the Sea The seas have long–standing recognition as routes linking all parts of the world and as a treasure full of resources. This has given significant rise to established rules. The Law of the Sea central principle is that Land rules over the Sea. A state will have the right on the sea, until a certain distance, according to the parameters of its land territory. This will be the territorial sea which forms part of a state's area subject to its authority, and any further range will be the high sea. The high seas were not to be appropriated. International law made the high seas one of its main principle. States have been demanding to extend the perimeter of the sea around their coasts to get more of the seas under their jurisdiction. Under these demands, developments in International law have brought about extended zones known as contiguous zone, continental shelf, exclusive economic zone etc. The Law of the sea will govern these characterised zones and see if a state should be entitled to such territorial sea extensions. The change of perception of states towards the seas have led to each state having their own principles which gave rise to clashing principles, this has led to conferences to find a solution to the problem. The policy of appeasement was used between 1935 and 1939 by the League Of Nations towards Nazi Germany. It involved making concessions to Germany, allowing Hitler to do things such as Anschluss and invade the Sudetenland. Many historians, including Winston Churchill, critisied appeasement at the time. One way in which Appeasement failed and contributed to the outbreak of WW2 was that it encouraged Hitler to follow his expansionist policies (Lebensraum). This is shown by the risks Hitler was taking, hoping no repurcussions would occur. One example of this the remiliterisation of the Rhineland in March 1936 which, directly contradicting the terms laid out in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The league was designed to democratically complete its main aims; enocouraging disarmament and improving working conditions and upholding peace. The League failed in these aims and allowed powerful nations to gain unlawful global strongholds. One example of this was the italian invasion of Corfu in 1923, the League failed to enforce sanctions and allowed mussolini to demand compensation and an apology from greece. Mussolini could see the League was weak and later invaded abysinnia in 1935. The league, once again, failed to act and the world lost confidence in its ability to keep it safe. The nazi soviet pact was signed between germany and russia, agreeing to complete non–aggression and the divison of poland. This meant Hitler could focus on the western front and gave him confidence in winning the war. This meant the likelyhood of war breaking out was massivly increased. Overall, I believe the faliure of appeasement isnt the main reason for the outbreak of the second world war because it bought Britain time to prepare for conflict. The failure of the League Of Nations to prevent expansionist foreign powers was to blame. Mussolini's Foreign Policy MUSSOLINI'S FOREIGN POLICY In the early days of Mussolini's regime (he came to power in 1922), Italian foreign policy seemed rather confused: Mussolini knew what he wanted, which was 'to make Italy great, respected and feared.' But he was not sure how to achieve this, apart from agitating for a revision of the 1919 peace settlement in Italy's favour. At first he seemed to think an adventurous foreign policy was his best line of action, hence the Corfu Incident and the occupation of Fiume in 1923. By an agreement signed at Rapallo in 1920, Fiume was to be a 'free city', used jointly by Italy and Yugoslavia; after Italian troops moved in, Yugoslavia agreed that it should belong to Italy. 'I want to make Italy great, respected and feared' said Mussolini in 1925. Mussolini's foreign policy included a number of positive and negative factors which all contributed to the rise, and the ultimately to the downfall, of both Mussolini and the Italian empire. Mussolini was intent on revising the conditions of the Treaty of Versailles and was very keen to show off Italy's power. In order for Mussolini to create an empire he needed Germany to remain weak, but once Hitler came to power, Germany grew much too fast for Mussolini. When the pair met in 1934 Mussolini realised that Hitler wasn't going to let Mussolini take over. Hitler's eagerness to expand was now apparent despite breaking the terms of the Treaty of Versailles. In April 1935, Britain, France and Italy, the wartime allies, attended the Stresa conference to discuss measures against Hitler, after he broke the terms of the Treaty. They all agreed to band together and prevent further expansion attempts by Hitler, yet the agreement was never signed. But like Germany, Mussolini was keen on expanding the Italian empire and in October 1935 Mussolini invaded Abyssinia. The invasion of Abyssinia was Mussolini's revenge. The case states that ' For the purpose of deciding whether the claim is well founded in law, the principle jura novit curia signifies that the Court is not solely dependent on the argument of the parties before it with respect to the applicable law (cf. 'Lotus', P.C.I.J., Series A, No. 10, p. 31), so that the absence of one party has less impact.' This would mean for the opinion of the court that although one party is absent there is no question of a judgment automatically in favour of the party appearing, since the Court is required to 'satisfy itself' that that party's claim is well founded in fact and law. This essay shows that the Nicaragua cases relies on all kinds of sources of international law. It shows us that law can be found in more than one place and that there can be more rules who are on the same issue but differs from source e.g. rules of customary law and treaty law as stated in the case. In the first decade of the 20th century; with the crucial urgency and the insistence of the President of the US, Wilson, who repeatedly proposed such an organization through his so–called Fourteen Points, an overall framework of the League was rising. At the beginning of 1919, during a session of The Paris Peace Conference, the creation of the League became an 'integral part' of a peace treaty; and finally, after innumerable negotiations, with the Treaty of Versailles, the 28 of June 1919, the League of Nations arise, with 41 members, holding their first meeting the 16 of January 1920 in Paris. With this coalition, all the great nations and some medium–sized powers, would have gathered to ensure security and to create a mechanism to prevent, resolve, or stop disputes and wars. You get frustrated when he doesn't give it to you, but after it's just a really big joke. Now Turkey isn't just about dessert, although they have amazing immemorial Turkish desserts. Let's talk some meaty foods in Turkey. There's entrees with meat all over the world, but not like Turkey. They have lambs which are good, but even better is the Turkish kabobs you'll find them anywhere. The Dolma is the best meat entree i've ever had anywhere, honestly, it's a bit spicy, but not too spicy but just right to give it a little kick. Another amazing meal is the KoFte, its lamb that comes with their Turkish sauce it comes in a very hot plate with a lot of steam coming out of it on top is very cold yogurt with some water added to it to liquefy it more. This idea is brilliant because when you're eating a very hot thing with something right after it smooth and cold it's fascinating. There is nothing that I myself can compare to the Dolma, it is a very unique dish in Turkey. Whilst this is true, many people say, "Yo dude, New York pizza is so rad dude, its the best in the world!" There is an inquiry, did they ever have pizza where pizza ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It must be won in such a way as to ensure the future peace of the world" President Woodrow Wilson, 1918 Introduction In front of the US Congress on January 8, 1918, President Woodrow Wilson enumerated his Fourteen Points created to ensure a more peaceful world. In the last point, the American president expressed the need to form a "general association of nations...formed on the basis of covenants designed to create mutual guarantees of the political independence and territorial integrity of states, large and small equally". In 1923, contrary to League rules, the French and the Belgium's invaded the Ruhr – Germany's most important industrial zone. Within Europe, France was seen as a senior League member – like Britain – and the anti–German feeling that was felt throughout Europe allowed both France and Belgium to break their own rules as were introduced by the League. Here were two League members clearly breaking League rules and nothing was done about it. For the League to enforce its will, it needed the support of its major backers in Europe, Britain and France. Yet France was one of the invaders and Britain was a major supporter of her, so nothing was to be done about it. This incident was crucial, as these two countries were involved in breaking their own rules and consequently set this example for others in future years. c) The Geneva Protocol Another clear failure was the Geneva Protocol in 1924, which said that if two members were in dispute they would have to ask the League to sort out the conflict and afterwards accept the council's decision. Before the Protocol could be signed a new conservative government appeared in Britain and refused to sign it, as it feared that Britain would be forced to agree to something that was not in its own interests. The Protocol, which was made to strengthen the League, ended up weakening it and, once again showing how countries were only worried about their problems and not in solving the ones of other countries. d) ... Especially from 1820 onwards Malta had formidable problems with redundant population. Peace in the country developed occupancies, which led to unemployment throughout the country. The main factors in decision making were mostly language and short distance. Moreover when French conquered Algeria, Maltese saw it as an opportunity to work as interpreters, soldiers and suppliers of all types of goods. This explains why they settled mostly in eastern Algeria. (Prochaska, 1990) As mentioned earlier migration of Maltese to Algeria started soon after the first French military conquest. This was due to very low and poor living conditions in Malta and in order to find a better life oversees. Most Maltese settled in Constantine, Bone, Philippeville but also in small towns and villages of the Constantinois (Cassar, 2000). Amongst the other European migrants Maltese were one of the poorest nations. Many of them would arrive with no belongings, in most cases not even owning shoes. Their social status also differed from the other settling groups in the colony. French elite questioned how European they were in fact considered them less European. One of the reasons was the Maltese language, which was strongly influenced by Arabic conquerors who ruled Malta for over two centuries. The Failure Of The League Of Nations "The League of Nations was doomed To failure from the start" Adam Jenner Many may believe that the League of Nations was doomed to failure as soon as the doors of their Geneva headquarters were opened; many may say that it was built on unstable foundations; that the very idea of it was a grave misjudgment by the powers that were. Indeed it is true that the League of Nations, when it was set up was marred with many fundamental flaws. The League of Nations was formed after the end of the First World War. It was an idea that President Wilson introduced as an international police force to maintain peace and to ensure the devastating atrocities like the First World War ever happening again. The principle mission of the League of Nations was to maintain World Peace. Their failure as the international peacekeeping organization to maintain world peace brought the outbreak of Second World War. Their failure in policing and preventing peace in settling disputes throughout Europe, erupted into the most devastating war ever. Through my analysis of the failures of the League of Nations to maintain world peace, my arguments will demonstrate the understandings of the reasons and events that created the most devastating environment for the Second World War. When the league first started everyone had different ideas of what organization it should be and what aims it should have. The Successes and Failures of the Treaty of Versailles in Addressing the Causes of Conflict and Restoring Peace and Normality To evaluate the successes and failures of the Treaty of Versailles, we need to address the terms of the Treaty as well as to inspect the consequences. The First World War had exposed Germany as a strong and aggressive power, and was viewed as a threat to peace by the victorious powers, so the terms of the Treaty of Versailles, which was designed to address the causes of conflict as well as restoring peace and normality, although including other peace measures, focused on harnessing and restricting Germany's power so that they would never again be strong enough to become a ... It also created a feeling of increased international understanding and therefore security, allowing 15 major powers to sign the Kellog–Briand Pact, which stated that the participating nations would reject 'war as an instrument of national policy'. On the other hand, the League was not successful in stopping conflict altogether. For example, despite the League's efforts, they could not stop Poland from annexing Vilna or Italy from occupying Corfu in 1923. And it was difficult for the permanent members of the League to put aside their self interest to act as a whole to preserve peace and normality. The problem was that there was no enforcing power, and the members did not always agree. Evidence of this was the complete failure to adhere to the Geneva Protocol, which was designed to unite all league members as a collective military power in case of unprovoked aggression. Although France showed strong support for this, Britain vetoed it arguing that this would involve Britain in all conflicts, big and small. This created a problem in enforcing the peace settlement. Additionally, the League failed to establish a World Disarmament scheme, rejected because of national self interest from its members. In these ads femininity is devalued while masculinity is valued by making them bigger and stronger. According to the film, "Killing Me Softly" these ads present that sex is suppose to belong to the young and the beautiful that leaves a large majority of women who deserve to feel sexty in every aspect therefore they just see themselves as objects. Another important idea is that feminine qualities are devalued such as empathy and compassion wheres masculinity is linked with violence in these ads and are praised. On the other hand some advantages my gender receives is that it is acceptable for women to wear cosmetics on opposed to masculinity. Another advantage is that in the United States in the family court law women are favored more than men when going through a divorce. The International Court Of Justice INTRODUCTION: International court of justice is a principal judicial organ of United Nations organization and is also known as world court which was established in 1945 by UN charter and began work in 1946. ICJ is successor of permanent court of international justice which was dissolved after the 2nd world war. ICJ is located in The Hague, Netherlands. In judicial settlement, ICJ occupies a prominent position and decides legal issues of general importance. ICJ comprises of fifteen judges who are elected for nine years by the general assembly and the security council, regardless of their nationality. JURISDICTION OF ICJ : According to Article 93 of the UN charter, all members of UN can automatically be the parties to the court. For non–members states, article 93 also provides the right to the parties of the court if they wish to and willing to be bound by the jurisdiction of court. For example, Switzerland used this method to become the party of the court in 1948. The court has jurisdiction over the states when the states accept the jurisdiction of the court. So the court doesn't have compulsory jurisdiction over the states, since there cannot be a central political authority over the sovereign states. Therefore, no international tribunal can exercise jurisdiction over the sovereign states without their consent. The jurisdiction of ICJ is based upon the consent of the parties. The structural relationship between the Wabigoon and Quetico subprovinces during deformation in Canadian rocks relevant to the study area has been discussed by Czeck and Poulsen (2010). The first deformation event (D1) resulted in folding of volcanic rocks in the Wabigoon and Wawa subprovinces (Hooper and Ojakangas, 1971; Hudleston, 1976; Hudleston et al., 1987; Jirsa et al., 1992) and locally within the Quetico subprovince (Bauer, 1985b). Most D1 folds in the Wawa terrane in MN rarely display axial–planar cleavage, with Bauer (1985b), Hooper and Ojakangas (1971), Hudleston (1976), and Jirsa et al. In the Wabigoon terrane, D1 resulted in recumbent folding that overturned the stratigraphic sequence and the first regional schistosity (Poulsen et al., 1980). S1 is generally subparallel to the layering in the metavolcanic and metasedimentary rocks, and a gneissic foliation attributed to D1 is well developed in gneissic domes (Czeck and Poulsen, 2010). Venice didn't start out as a massive trading and naval power and it certainly didn't last forever. The powerhouse of Italy did not simply "spring to life." Over the course of seven centuries, the core of what we renounce as Venice is applied. Whether that be government, trade, or religion. Venice came to be at approximately 400 A.D. The core purpose of Venice was to serve as a refuge for people to hide from the Germanic invaders after Rome fell. After invaders from the mainland kept attacking, some people realized that it was safer to live in a marshy location; invaders had neither access nor the knowledge to travel to Venice. The invaders helped Venice become a city, because it forced people to seek refuge there, and its population grew before it was decided a city. Fortunately for Venice, it was isolated from the rest of the Italian states; and did not have political pressure and other issues states further inland dealt with. As a result, Venice had time to develop as a city and focus on the Eastern trade, and a naval force. The separation of Venice from the remainder of other city–states proved to be valuable in the upcoming centuries. It wasn't until the eleventh century when Venice had the full trading capability. The Byzantine empire gave Venice unlimited access to trade throughout their territory when they helped the Byzantine drive off the Normands. Venice didn't ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The exploration history of the McAra property provided here was compiled from Randall (2007), Robinson (2006), Anonymous (2003), Anderson (2005), and Pringle (2016). 1910–1982: Early Exploration Exploration in the region started in 1910s and was focused on Ag–Co veins, with no significant silver deposits haven been discovered in the McAra area. Copper–zinc (VMS–type?) mineralized zones were discovered in Archean volcanic rocks in the southern part of North Williams Township by Metron Explorations Limited in 1970. The mineralized zone and surrounding area were evaluated with a HLEM survey and drilled with 2 DDHs (totaling 61.3 m) that did not intercept significantly mineralized rocks (Willars, 1971). In 1982, perceived Witwatersrand–type gold deposit potential caused a major staking rush in the area, with exploration focused on conglomeratic units in the Paleoproterozoic Lorrain Formation of the Cobalt Group that forms the upper part of the Huronian Supergroup. Exploration was unsuccessful and the claims were quickly abandoned. Mid–1980s: Falconbridge Nickel Falconbridge Nickel explored for base metal VMS deposits in the mid–1980s in the nearby Sheard, Browning and Amyot townships. The highest amplitude conductors interpreted from airborne data were evaluated with ground geophysical surveys and drill tested with poor results. 1996–1997: Roy Annett Roy Annett discovered the rusty zones 400 m (Annett #2) and 500 m (Annett #1) to the northeast of McAra Lake in 1996. All that remains of this civilization are the tombs of their dead and the artwork that resides within these tombs. From what has been gathered and interpreted, the Etruscans belief in life after death was similar to that of the Egyptians. They believed death was a journey to afterlife, a physical location, and that the deceased would require the same type of goods and materials as in the world of the living. Therefore, within their tombs they would paint scenes of celebration, hunting and religious rituals, as well as beds, livestock, and even slippers. You see men standing in a boat on a river, fishing and hunting birds. Perhaps this is the telling of a fishing trip the deceased took part in in life. These paintings device the essence of the Etruscans culture in pursuit of easing the transition to afterlife. With scenes of good memories it may have been thought death wouldn't be so scary. With today's modern culture, death is a private event of mourning and grieving. We no longer as a community gather to celebrate the life of a late neighbor, instead this event is intended for family and close friends. We either bury our loved ones in a local cemetery or have their remains cremated and kept in an urn for viewing. The rituals performed by individuals in the event of a death have become superficial with a lack of meaning. The size of a headstone is only determined by how much money you have. The extravagance of the wake or any type of ceremony performed is determined by how much money you have. And for those who can't even afford a burial and opt for cremation, the elegance of the urn used to hold the ashes of your loved one is once again determined by how much money you have. Oakley had brown, long hair with big hazel eyes. Her parents adored her. Eighteen years passed by and there was a big riot going on in Athens in protest of Zeus letting Hades capture Persephone. Zeus wanted to teach the citizens of Athens a lesson by sending them terrible storms. Innocent Oakley didn't know about the threats from Zeus, but her parents did. Her parents didn't want Oakley to fear of the storm coming their way, so they didn't tell her. Her parents also didn't want to leave Athens themselves, they knew they didn't have the energy to do so. In result, they had to try and get Oakley to move by herself, without letting her know of the great dangers ahead. Oakley was in her room, sewing a new blanket for her bed. Her mother called for her to come downstairs. So of course, she made her way downstairs and saw her parents sitting on the couch, with a depressed look on their face. "What's wrong?" said Oakley. "Honey, we have some news for you. We are sending you off to Corfu." said her mother. Oakleys face turned red. She seemed like she had smoke coming out of her ears. "Are you trying to get rid of me?" said Oakley. "What did I ever do to you?" "Nothing, nothing," said her father. "This is for your own safety darling." "What is going on? The revolutions, though precipitated in several instances by Socialists, proved to be uniformly mild and more conducive to democratic nationalism than to any basic social change. In Germany Prince Maximilian, the Chancellor on whom the Emperor William II imposed the unpleasant task of opening peace negotiations with the Allies, sought to allay domestic unrest by promising in October a number of constitutional reforms. In the imperial Dual Monarchy of Austria–Hungary, the revolution of 1918–1919 was not only democratic but disruptive. In vain the Emperor–King Charles I published a conciliatory manifesto on October 16, 1918 promising to reorganize the monarchy on a federal basis so that each of its nationalities would possess democratic autonomy. By this time it was too late for compromise. Leaders of the subject nationalities were resolved on achieving a separation from the Habsburg Empire, and the collapse of the Austro–Hungarian armies removed the means which Charles might have employed to enforce obedience. On October 18, a group of Czech patriots, including Thomas Masaryk and Eduard Benes, proclaimed at Paris the deposition of Charles of Habsburg as King of Bohemia and the independence of the "Czechoslovakian Repubic." Ten days later, a self–constituted Czech "national council" took over the government at Prague, and the next day a similar "national council" in the Slovak provinces of Hungary voted for a union of the Slovaks with the Czechs in a new "Czechoslovakia." A national assembly was speedily convened at Prague. In November it ratified what had been done and chose Masaryk as President of the Republic, with Benes as foreign minister, and eventually in February 1920, after protracted debates, it adoted a democratic constitution. • 150. The Rise Of Benito Mussolini And Adolf Hitler "There was no contemporary politician Hitler venerated more than Benito Mussolini, Italy's Fascist dictator" – Wolfgang Schieder. The period following World War I (WWI) saw the rise of two dictators in Europe, Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler. Hitler's Nazi beliefs were entirely based off of Mussolini's fascists ideologies in both domestic and foreign policies, through collectivism and expansion. As Hitler admired Mussolini's style of leadership in Italy, he strove to achieve the same style of government in Germany. These two dictators would eventually form a strong alliance, the Pact of Steel, because of their similar ideologies. It was after observing how Mussolini rose to power and ran his Fascist government that Hitler learned how he should run his own. As traditionalist historian Wolfgang Schieder stated in Fatal Attraction: The German Right and Italian Fascism, a section in Hans Mommsen's The Third Reich between Vision and Reality: New Perspectives on German History, 1918–1945, "Hitler's rise to power would not have occurred so easily without Mussolini's precedent". In terms of domestic policies, one principle that Mussolini focussed on was collectivism. As such, Mussolini got all Italians working for the state so that more could be achieved in less time, as the citizens are no longer divided by individual interests. In doing so, Mussolini also brought Italians closer together and began to abolish regionalism and shift towards intense nationalism that the country ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
