SLiMS is a free and open-source integrated library system that was created in Indonesia to address the lack of affordable library automation systems. It has grown into a grassroots movement through communities that organize workshops and annual meetups to spread adoption of SLiMS. The open collaboration on SLiMS has helped many small to medium libraries in Indonesia gain freedom from proprietary software through a freely available and modifiable system.
