In 2011, the company also launched an educational website for SMEs to seek Zappos' executives for advice with monthly fees. Lastly, Zappos could
also expand and diversify away from retail, to businesses such as hospitality or banking, where customer service is dominant. Threats Cyber–Attacks
As an online retailer storing private information of customers, Zappos may face unauthorized access by hackers. In early 2012, more than 24 million
customers' personal information, including email, billing and shipping addresses, have been accessed illegally by hackers. However, Zappos
announced "critical credit card and payment information was not affected and distributed an apology letter to all customers for the breach, along with
instructions on how to reset their passwords to ensure security was up to standard, to regain trust from customers. Lawsuits for Wages The biggest
threat for Zappos will be the low wages offered to their employees, with customer service representatives paid $11/hour, while warehouse workers paid
$8.25/hour. With average customer service representatives' salary of $23,000, this is 3% below the national average salary. Although Zappos has an
amazing work environment, their non–competitive customer service representatives' wages might expose themselves to poaching from competitors.
However, the company does offer free medical services and 401(k) (retirement savings account in the U.S.) in order to stay competitive in the

Situational Analysis, Airbus
Situational Analysis, Airbus.
Porter's Five Forces.
Risk of Entry by Potential Competitors – The aviation industry is a very difficult industry to enter, and the risky of entry by potential competitors is
extremely low.
Rivalry among established companies – The intensity of rivalry among established companies within the aviation industry is very high. Currently the
only competitor or Airbus is Boeing. Both of these companies gain market share from each other using prices, product design, advertising, and direct
selling efforts. Due to the intensity of the rivalry among Boeing and Airbus, the profits are squeezed.

Since the introduction of the A300, Airbus has strived to offer customers a differentiated yet technologically equal (and in many cases superior)
product from that of Boeing.
SWOT Analysis
Situation– While profitable, Airbus is losing its competitive edge against and market share from Boeing.
Opportunities – Continued deregulation in the airline industry, developing markets, exploitation of Boeing's new "spoke to spoke" transportation
theory. Military contracts, such as the tanker project for the U.S. Air Force. Increase in the use of regional jets for hub to spoke routes.
Threats – B 787 Dreamliner, The new trends of smaller wide–body jets being used directly affecting the sales of the A380. U.S. government's threat in
launching a trade war against Airbus. Currency exchange risk, dollar devaluation. Lack of demand for the A380. Fluctuations in the profitability of the
airlines (terrorism, fuel prices, etc). Business cycle fluctuation. Changes in trends in airlines operations (routing, hub/spoke, etc.) Increased WTO/GATT
problems.
Strengths – Empowered (globally minded) sales staff whom are permitted to make deals and negotiate, and make pricing decisions made the spot.
Technological competency (innovation), strong relationships with the U.S., Chinese, and European governments. Standardization/Commonalities
between most aircraft. Risk sharing leverage with corporations, suppliers, and foreign

Borderlands By Gloria AnzaldГєa
As human beings we tend to classify others by classifying ourselves (Eide 74 ). Nothing wrong with that per se, if not for using problematic criteria,
such as race, skin color, gender, sexual orientation, class, religion, or ethnicity, in an often negative and derogatory way. As soon as individuals or
groups are considering themselves superior, they inherently impose inferiority upon others, and discrimination and bigotry is born. Equality is still far
from being common practice. A large part of the problem is ignorance; ignorance about other cultures, religions, gender range, ethnicity and many other
characteristics. In her book Borderlands: La Frontera, Gloria AnzaldГєa describes how she has hopes for a new humanity, not inhibited by race or
gender or any other social, political or ethical label; a hybrid form, an epitome of all possible confluences: a cosmic race, with a rich gene pool and a
new consciousness (100–102). She believes this can be realized by uprooting all dualistic thinking and teaching tolerance and openness from a very
young age: 'nothing is thrust out, the good, the bad and the ugly, nothing rejected, nothing abandoned' (AnzaldГєa 101) . She uses the... Show more

But, as with all resources, it might give rise to exactly the opposite of what is was meant for. It can isolate the cause it stands for, thereby making the
chasm between it and others even larger, instead of bringing them closer together. It is a tool, nothing more: it can come in handy, but has no
secondary agenda, and is to be used very carefully. AnzaldГєa's concept of a new consciousness, though beautiful and achievable, will need time and
willingness to cooperate. And within that framework people should accept the fact that they can, themselves, be part of the problem and make an effort
to help solve it. In a way Anzaldua's vision has already been in operation for thousands and thousands of

Can the Subaltern Speak Summary
Can the Subaltern Speak? – Summary Gayatri Spivak Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak is an unsettling voice in literary theory and especially, postcolonial
studies. She has describes herself as a "practical deconstructionist feminist Marxist" and as a "gadfly". She uses deconstruction to examine "how truth is
constructed" and to deploy the assertions of one intellectual and political position (such as Marxism) to "interrupt" or "bring into crisis" another
(feminism, for example). In her work, she combines passionate denunciations of the harm done to women, non–Europeans, and the poor by the
privileged West with a persistent questioning of the grounds on which radical critique takes its stand. Her continual interrogation of assumptions can

As poststructuralism would have it, human consciousness is constructed discursively. Our subjectivity is constructed by the shifting discourses of
power which endlessly speak through us, situating us here and there in particular positions and relations. In these terms we are not the authors of
ourselves. We do not construct our identities, we have it written for us; the subject cannot be sovereign over the construction of selfhood. Instead the
subject is decentered, in that its consciousness is always being constructed from positions outside of itself. It follows then that the individual is not a
transparent representation of the self but an effect of discourse. Spivak argues that surprisingly for these figures, when Foucault and Deleuze talks
about oppressed groups such as the working classes they fall back into precisely these uncritical notions of 'sovereign subjects' by restoring to them a
fully centred consciousness. In addition they also assume that the writing of intellectuals such as themselves can serve as a transparent medium
through which the voices of the oppressed can be represented. The intellectual is cast as a reliable mediator for the voices of the oppressed, a
mothpiece through which the oppressed can clearly speak. Spivak articulates her reasons for her worries in the first part of the essay, applying
MICHEL FOUCAULT's understanding of "epistemic violence" to the "remotely orchestrated, far–flung, and heterogeneous project to

Under Western Eyes : Feminist Scholarship And Colonial...
This critique reflects on Mohanty's "Under Western Eyes: Feminist Scholarship and Colonial Discourses" and Moore's "The Rise and Rise of
Ecofeminism as a Development Fable: A Response to Melissa Leach's 'Earth Mothers and Other Ecofeminist Fables: How a Strategic Notion Rose and
Fell." Both articles raise questions of essentialism as a necessary element in feminism itself, and of naivety, validity and value of essentialized feminist
works. This firstly challenges the biological and social definition of 'woman,' the homogenization of 'woman', and further, the implication of the role of
women in nature. The second challenge that arises in reviewing these articles is the question of audience: whom are these (eco)feminists targeting, and
for what purpose? The challenges of (eco)feminism, essentialist feminism, and the application of feminism in gender, development and environmental
studies are apparent in both of the articles I am reviewing.
In Moore's article, there is a notion that there is a place for 'strategic essentialization' to mobilize resources; an altruistic, advocacy role in mobilizing
issues that are integral to feminist, cultural or political issues. Moving beyond advocacy in and empirical analysis of (eco)feminism, it is clear that
these two articles fail to address post–structuralist ideals in which action and self–sufficiency should be mobilized. As stated by Benton and Craib in
chapter 10," it is the movement from the rigorous elaboration of structures to

Li and Fung Case Analysis
Executive Summary Li & Fung is a long–standing Hong Kong based company that that has evolved from an export trading company to a coordinator
of value–added services across the entire supply chain in a global, open manufacturing environment. They assess the clients' product and delivery needs
and orchestrate supply, manufacture and delivery in a very tailored and specialized way (Claremont Conversation Online, 2008). In the prevailing
business environment, it has not been cost effective to trade with SMEs since production orders were below the factory minimums. Through the
implementation of an internet portal, they have secured their position with the SME market while maintaining economies of scale. Description of the

Shortly thereafter, they acquired Dodwell and began to access sourcing markets in India and export markets in Europe. In 1998, they acquired Swire
Group and Camberley to become the only supply–chain company listed publicly in Hong Kong. This acquisition also introduced the concept of "virtual
manufacturing," which added a new link to the supply–chain process in the form of in–house design process. The strategy of expansion via acquisitions
has allowed Li and Fung to gain access to the Asian buying offices of Laura Ashley and Anne Taylor. By 2000, Li and Fung was five times the size of
its two local competitors. Supply–chain Expansion via Internet and E–commerce In 1995, Li and Fung had discovered the intranet as a way to link its
offices to manufacturing sites all over the world. Internal communications were simplified, order progress easily monitored, and online inspections
done in real–time. In 1997, customized extranet sites linked key retailers with manufacturers. Three years later, ten extranet sites existed; each of which
facilitated online product development processes. The use of the internet prompted quick response manufacturingin a real–time environment. Li and
Fung's used their intranet and extranet systems to serve as the building blocks to their e–commerce strategy. Company Goals–3 Year Plans Every three

Analysis Into the Vertical Integration Across the Value...
"The greater a firm‟s ownership extends over successive stages of the value chain for its product, the greater the degree of vertical integration"
(Grant, 2010, pp354). The consumer electronics industry value chain is depicted below: Thus a firm can be said to be vertically integrated if it owns
and operates each of these stages of the value chain. The consumer electronics industry has many players who produce goods for purposes such as
entertainment, communication and work. There are many determinants of success, including technical innovation, price competitiveness and brand
awareness. The degree of integration in the value chain can influence success within the industry. Examples of firms who manage the value chain

In 2009, 50% of their total annual production was in their in–house factories in Japan, with 60% of this production destined for export to other regions
(Datamonitor, 20111). There are some benefits of maintaining vertical integration in manufacturing. First and foremost, vertical integration will help
with control and coordination throughout Sony‟s value chain. By owning production factories and operating its own logistics, it is readily able to
respond to changes in consumer demand or market trends, with no reliance on external suppliers. That is, it has full control over its operations. Further,
Sony has „trade secrets‟ which it wishes to protect from its rivals. In an industry which is shaped by technological advancement, keeping such
trade secrets is therefore of great importance. Not adopting an inhouse manufacturing strategy will always bear the risk of these secrets being
expropriated by others. Also, if Sony were to outsource, it may require its manufacturers to make transaction–specific investments (Grant, 2010). There
is a need for trust and a strong relationship, as well as rigid contractual agreements, thus making the transaction costs potentially high. Therefore it can
be seen that manufacturing in house could avoid a lot of complexity. However, keeping manufacturing vertically integrated poses several issues
especially with a big part of their operations being based in Japan. Firstly, the average hourly wage rate in Japan is

ABSTRACT:
TBD INTRODUCTION After several years of study to become an educator, it is my belief that the main goal of education should be to produce
responsible, functioning members of society. Our curriculums should give students practical knowledge that will not become obsolete in the next few
years. Our students should be capable of using logic and reasoning to apply their education to real–world contexts. A strong grasp of basic content
knowledge is what helps propel students toward success in every career field. My philosophy aligns most closely to that of essentialist and perennialist
classrooms due to their beliefs on education, incorporation of technology in the classroom, variety of instructional methods, and consistent success
(Braley, Layman, & White, 2003). The following discussion will help outline my essential and perennial inspired philosophy of education.
WORLDVIEW AND PHILOSOPHY OF LIFE Humans are sinful by nature, and they must learn to be good. Adam and Eve brought sin upon
humanity in the Garden of Eden, and now we must seek redemption through Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:22, ESV). As Christians, we must aim to do
all things with the goal of

Classroom Culture In The Classroom
Classroom Culture.
In order to create a positive classroom culture, teacher need to promote positive relationships between students and with students by taking an interest
and have respect for each other. It is extremely important for teacher to get to know the students, their families, and their culture. When a student
knows their teacher cares about them, then a relationship of trust will exist between a student and teacher. According to Sayeski and Brown (2011),
"teachers who had positive relationships with their student had 31 % fewer discipline problems and rule violations over the course of the year than
teachers who did not" (p. 12). In order to know more about them, I will send home a poster board where the students can fill it with any information
they would like me and their classmates to know. This constructivist approach gives them the opportunity to be creative and choose what they want to
share. The essentialist approach of sending home a questionnaire for the family to fill out will help collect information important to understanding the
student. This is the only category where I consider myself an essentialist and constructivist due to how information will be gathered about my students,
but this will allow me to build the framework for a positive learning environment for everyone. Having students create a poster will allow their peers to
get to know them as an individual. Another way to create a positive environment is having students work together to keep

Essentialist Approach To Sexuality Paper
The essentialist approach to sexuality asserts that sexuality is an inborn characteristic and an innate aspect of being human. The essentialist approach
evolves out of the biological model which views sexuality as a universal drive within the body that has remained constant over time (Bakehorn, 8/30
/206). Essentialism assesses all sexual practices throughout history and within different cultures using a universal set of criteria. This understanding of
sexuality leads essentialists to apply the dichotomous sexual orientations of homosexual and heterosexual to describe all sexual behavior throughout
history (Weeks 2010:20). Essentialism is very rigid in its approach to sexuality and upholds biology as the ultimate determinate of individual sexual...

I attended Catholic school for eight years, and as a result, my sexual education preached abstinence. I was taught that sexuality was a gift from
god, and should only be shared within the sacrament of marriage. Although I no longer believed that sexuality was a gift from god, I still thought
of it as something that we were born with, in much the same way someone is born a certain skin color. Even after learning how so many aspects of
my reality are socially constructed in other classes, I never thought to apply it to sexuality. I didn't personally see my sexuality as shaping my life in
the same why the gender or race seemed to be so pervasive. My sexuality, although an extremely important aspect of who I am, never seemed to be
anything other but "natural" to me. I had never wondered if society and history were constructing my sexuality because I thought it of it as something

Categorization : Essentialism Vs Characteristic Features
Amy Bushong
Dr. Reeves, PSY 305
Categorization: Essentialism vs Characteristic Features
Opening Categorization is the psychological phenomenon that allows the human psyche to divide concepts in order to accurately perceive the world.
This marvel functions practically in the sense that when a person can possess the concept of a goldfish, it is plausible that they have extensive
knowledge of what a fish looks like and how it breathes underwater, leading them to categorize a goldfish as a fish. However, categorization depends on
more than just physical characteristics, otherwise a whale could be considered a fish because it has fins and lives underwater, but it is actually a
mammal due to how it procreates and breathes. Categories, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is emulated in the way that a tomato looks like a vegetable, and is eaten like a vegetable, but it's essential nature is that of a fruit and so that is
what a tomato is categorized as.
Family resemblance theory, however, operates on the idea that categories are graded, and that a concept can be a slightly worse or better example of
that category compared to a set of prototypes or exemplars, which are the best representations of that category. For example, a rug could be
categorized as furniture, but it is not as good a representation of that category as a table is. The main difference between the two theories is that
essentialism views categorization as black and white whereas resemblance views everything on a graded structure. This paper details the functional
differences between essentialist theory and resemblance theory, and examines how resemblance theory is a more accurate of categorization, as well as
how natural categories such as fruits are measured more absolutely while artifact categories such as furniture are measured on a graded structure
through the articles and experiments conducted by Charles Kalish (2002) and Zachary Estes (2003).
Experiments
There are two major associations with resemblance theory, mainly that items that have the same typicality are given the same member status in a
category, and that those with a "better" or "higher" typicality are

The University Hospital Bristol NHS Foundation Trust is a teaching hospital that provides specialist and general services to the people of Bristol,
England and the wider South West. The hospital is already recognized for the strength of their clinical services, research portfolio in cancer, and
pediatric services. The hospital employs more than 7,000 (uhbristol/About Us, 2013) health care workers and operates across eight hospital sites. One

Their plan includes increasing efficiency and performance across all departments. In order to achieve this, they are focusing on creating a more flexible
infrastructure that will allow the hospital to respond to changes in demand as well as patient initiatives (monitor.gov, 2010). Another factor in helping
the hospital to achieve their goals is the further investing in the infrastructure which will allow them to compete with other health care facilities for
patient care and also an increased cash flow.
It should be noted that the hospital has also created strategic planning for collaborative work with other health care factions in order to create the
proper levels of access and quality in all departments and other facilities in order to ensure the best care is given across all demographics and
geographic lines. This collaborative work not only benefits the communities, but also creates a network of services that can better serve the residents
and all other health care workers and organizations. This collaboration can also ensure the profitability and sustainability of not only Bristol, but also
the partnering organizations. This leads to the final strategic planning goal of understanding the profitability of procedures and patient care.
With the finances of the hospital being as it is, it is imperative to note that if a situation arose whereby the nursing union has begun bargaining and has

Film: Guess Who?
Representations of Essentialism and Non–essentialism within the film 'Guess Who'.
The values and views held by the majority of society are often reflected within the media. This can be seen by an audience through films such as 'Guess
Who' which contains representations of various values and perspectives in regards to the intercultural concept of essentialism and non–essentialism. The
film 'Guess Who' released in 2005, is a comedy based on an African American female who introduces her Caucasian boyfriend to her family. Within the
film, the intercultural concepts are explored through the characters, to position the audience to view that essentialist views encourages prejudice of

Within 'Guess Who' the character of Theresa Jones embodies the concept of non–essentialism. The producer does this in order to position the audience
to see that "essentialism influence(s) prejudice, perceived differences between groups, dispositional attributes and justifying social inequalities".
(INCITE REFERENCE) In response to her boyfriend questioning why she didn't tell her parents that he was Caucasian she says "I didn't tell them
because it doesn't matter" (Sullivan, 2005). The cab driver who is also African American then says "its gonna matter" (Sullivan, 2005). This
juxtaposition demonstrates Theresa's ability to look beyond appearance and value and love another person for who they are and what they have in
common. The audience are positioned to accept and value Theresa from this scene at the start of the film as she portrays non–essentialism by trying to
overcome the racial and cultural differences, which to the majority of an audience is an ideal value.
The film not only showcases the two extremes of essentialist and non–essentialist views, but also displays a view in between. This view is
encompassed by Theresa's mother. Marilyn in the first scenes is shocked at the idea that Theresa's boyfriend is Caucasian but then in later scenes, she
justifies the reasoning of Theresa's

Vertical Integration Walmart
Vertical integration is a business growth strategy for economics of scale. It is typified by one firm engaged in different parts of production example;
growing raw materials, manufacturing, transporting, marketing, and/or retailing to expand business in existing market for the firm. It can function in
two directions both forward integration and backward integration.

Having strong presence in the retail industry, the firm expanded business to offer second hand car. The firm leverage on its competencies to provide its
own product to consumer. Also, Wal–Mart works heavily with its suppliers. This symbiotic relationship can be seen as vertical integration due to the
level at which Wal–Mart analyses its suppliers and improves their manufacturing processes. Wal–Mart definitely has the business strategy of Low Cost
Leadership. They do nothing to really differentiate themselves from competitors and provide no–frills self–service stores that always provide the lowest
prices. Wal–Mart has built enough clout with suppliers that they can dictate the prices and go in and change suppliers manufacturing processes in order
to wring out more and more savings for the consumer.
However, it is not always the case that all firms should develop vertical integration strategy to enjoy economic of scale. Firm like boutique or niche
items that produces on a small scale are not suitable to implement as it will benefit less from vertically integrated mainly because the input demand for

The main advantage of the vertical integration is the increased control. For instance, Wal–Mart with large market share is attractive to supplier. Though

Planning Function
Management: Planning Function Planning is a major function of management. Planning may be the most important of all management functions.
Planning involves a six–step process that assists an organization in setting goals and determining how to accomplish them best (Allen, 1998). "Effective
planning helps an organization adapt to change by identifying opportunities and avoiding problems. It sets the direction for the other functions of
management and for teamwork" (Allen, 1988, В¶ 1). In order to operate in an efficient and effective manner and to progress with focus and direction,
an organization must set goals and develop plans to achieve those goals (Erven, 1999). All management levels participate in planning; the

Strategic planning is essentially long–range planning in which an organization develops its mission, overall goals, general strategy and allocates
resources (Management, 2006). When managers begin planning, they clearly identify the purpose of the organization with a mission statement.
According to Allen (1998), "The mission statement is broad, yet clear and concise, summarizing what the organization does. It directs the organization,
as well as all of its major functions and operations, to its best opportunities. Then, it leads to supporting tactical and operational plans, which, in turn
leads to supporting objectives" (В¶ 6). During strategic planning, managers conduct a situational analysis. The situational analysis is comprised of an
internal assessment of the organization and an external assessment of the environment (Allen, 1998). "One method of collecting useful information on
both the internal and external situation is to conduct a SWOT analysis" (Management, 2006, В¶ 6). A SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and
threats) analysis ". . . is the assumptions and facts on which a plan will be based" (Allen, 1998, В¶ 8). An internal assessment of the organization
includes examining strengths and weaknesses to determine what make the organization distinctive and where vulnerabilities exist (Erven, 1999).
Opportunities and threats are external to the firm;

Reflection Of Education
Abstract
It is an undying question that may never be answered: How do children learn? It is a common idea that children need to be taught the basic subjects
such as math, reading, writing, science, and history. However, what if we are serving an injustice to our youth? I myself was brought up by the
public school system. I was taught how to take a test, how to memorize vocabulary until the next set arrived, and how to play by the rules. While
every child learns differently, I always imagined what it would have been like to be taught in a different atmosphere. Despite this being the most
common curriculum of Essentialism, I believe that we could be of better use to our children.
Key words: Progressivism, Reform, Essentialism, Reconstructionism, Education
Education is a concept that people believe will never change. Most people believe that education only goes as far as the basics: reading, writing,
math, science, social studies. But, with that being said, how will our children ever be mentally prepared for reality and what it entails? I believe that
it is our duty to prepare our children for anything that may happen to them on a daily basis, teach them right from wrong, give them opportunities to
learn on their own. The biggest question that will always sit in the back of my mind is, "How can I help children succeed in a system that failed me?"
Within this thesis, I will discuss the differences between modern day, essentialist teaching, and my theory

Rhetoric Of Identity Politics
Identity politics was used for the first time in social science and humanities by Renee R. Anspach in 1979 to define „social movements which seek
to alter the self–conceptions and societal conceptions of their participants‟ (Anspach, 1979: 765). When members of a specific subgroup unite in
order to affect political or social change, the result is often called identity politics. Identity politics refers to Political positions based on the interest and
perspective and social groups of which people identify. Identity politics primarily appeared during the politically tumultuous years following the
passage of the Civil Rights Act in 1965. Identity politics include the way in which peoples politics may be shaped by their aspects of their identity

Often challenges fail to make sufficiently clear their object of critique, using "identity politics" as a blanket description that invokes a range of tacit
political failings (as discussed in Bickford 1997). From a contemporary perspective, some early identity claims by political activists certainly seem
naive, totalizing. However, the public rhetoric of identity politics served useful and empowering purposes for some, even while it sometimes belied the
philosophical complexity of any claim to a shared experience or common group characteristics.
According to Sonia Kruks, what makes identity politics a significant departure from earlier, pre–identarian forms of the politics of recognition is its
demand for recognition on the basis of the very grounds on which recognition has previously been denied: it is qua women, qua blacks, qua lesbians
that groups demand recognition. The demand is not for inclusion within the fold of "universal humankind" on the basis of shared human attributes; nor
is it for respect "in spite of" one's differences. Rather, what is demanded is respect for oneself as different (2001:

В•International stability В– The international economy must be brought into consideration as it can affect Starbucks' sales and markets. The aftermath
of 9/11 was an example of an economic downturn that affected the world market. If the world market is in a slump it is not usually the ideal time for a
business to look at grand expansion.
В•Employment law В– A reduction in licensing and permit costs in those countries producing the coffee bean for Starbucks would lower production
costs for farmers. This saving would in turn be passed on to the purchaser.
Economic:
В•Interest rates В– A rise in interest rates means investment and expansion plans are put off resulting in falling sales for Starbucks and their suppliers.
Also mortgage repayments rise so consumers have less disposable income to spend on luxury products such as coffee. Low interest rates should have
the opposite effect.
В•Economic Growth В– If growth is low in the nation of location of Starbucks then sales may also fall. Consumer incomes tend to fall in periods of
negative growth leaving less disposable income. Consumer confidence in products can also fall if the economic В‘mood' is low
В•Inflation rates В– Inflation is a condition of increasing prices. It is measured using the Retail Price Index (RPI) in the UK. Business costs will rise
for Starbucks through inflation, as will shoe–leather costs as they shop around for new В‘best prices' of materials, menu costs will rise

Chris Hedges What Is Artifice
What is artifice? And why is it known as "the most essential skill" by Chris Hedges from an excerpt from Empire of Illusion. Artifice is a clever
trick to deceive others like what many politicians used going from the past until nowadays. Because the Americans love to have good reputation,
most politicians that have the ability to do so as Chris Hedges's argues "the most essential skill...is atifice" proves to be true. To begin with, Hedges
states that politicians nowadays do not need to have the abilities to make a country to be successful; however, they only need to have the ability to
build a good reputation for the people even if it is a fake one like how Hedges states, "political leaders who use the tools of mass propaganda ...no
longer need to be competent, sincere, or honest." Similar to the 2016 presidential election, Donald J. Trump won the election was not because he was
great; however, he won because he was able to use various propagrandas and mass medias to build him in front of the American people. In addition,
back in 1960 presidential election, John F. Kennedy won the election due to the use of televisions and his outer appearance, which they helped him to
win the election. This proves Hedges's arguement to be true.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Various studies have been done in connection with the measurement of performance it is primarily intended to improve the effectiveness of the
performance of the evolutionary process. Keep in mind, evaluation or performance measurement is a component that has been accepted as a principle
to ensure that the benefits for these organizations.

For example, measures can be taken as the ratio. It may determine that an organization's financial position is at a favorable or otherwise.
In addition, they can see the level of financial accounting from time to time. Here, all investors and the public will see the financial performance of an
organization to determine whether they want to continue to invest or otherwise. In this way, performance measurement can be measured to know that
investors will continue their investment in the organization. Here, it is evident that the financial accounting, performance measurement has advantages
as discussed.
Strength must compare with weakness. Thus, the disadvantages that can be seen when it involves the time in other words, up and down the
organization can be found as fast as possible. Therefore, when investors find the financial level in the organization is in shaky condition, then the
investor will withdraw all investments have been made. This allows an organization can fall quickly. Thus, the model performance measures are not
successful and not suitable for use by this organization.
Apart from the level of financial accounting, the ratio is one measure of performance can be made by the organization. Ratio is intended to make a
comparison between two or more of a decision. The ratio of interest is to have a profound meaning which, when it is compared with other ratios.
Examples of such ratios can reinforce an opinion on the

Without providing sufficient access to information about checks and balances in decision making processes, the organization can easily fall from
an environment of trust to one of cynicism ( Leader to Leader, 2008, p. 37). Another important area where the independent ombudsman who
represents the ARC to Congress should focus is on people who are volunteering for different events. In my opinion a background check it would be
necessary to avoid the past issues regarding thefts or missing items that were designated for individuals in need. In the 2007, National Nonprofit
Ethics Survey, showed that more than half of employees had noticed at least one act of misconduct in the previous year. Close to 40 % of nonprofit
employees who observed an unethical behavior have failed to report it, simply because they were convinced that reporting would not lead to
corrective action or they were afraid of retaliation from management or colleagues ( Rhode & Packel 2009). Clark ( 2012) suggested that
"Implementing a new culture, organizational structure, or strategic plan requires leaders to engage and empower their staff to take ownership of the

Identity: Socially Constructed or Innate?
The issue of whether identity is socially constructed or an innate characteristic remains a contested one. For some, identity is a product of the society,
interactions, influence, and practices while for others, it is biological or rather primordial. At the very basic, identity is an essential personal
characteristics as it encompasses the membership to different groups, including religion, gender, and ethnicity, the traits people show and what others
ascribe to them (Newman 126). Identity locates people in the social world and influences all their actions, thoughts, and feelings. Several renowned
thinkers and philosophers offer their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In reality, however, the identities are socially constructed. The way in which people were born only constitutes a part of whom they are. Muslim
African –Americans identify themselves as Muslims not because of their innate characteristics, but their religious affiliation with Islam. Individuals
develop their sense of identity through socialization processes when they interact and learn different cultural practices and norms (Ochs 291).
Sociological theories confirm that identity is indeed a social construct and reject the view that it is innate. Social expectations and circumstance create
our identity.
Anthony Marx speaks about the trap of essentialism. The concept considers an entity as comprising of attributes that are critical for one 's function and
identity. In this view, all things are considered to have a form or an essence and that these elements make up the "thing" without which it would not
exist. Essentialism affirms that individuals pose fixed traits and that variations among the societal group members are secondary. In ethnicity,
essentialism asserts that minority groups have unchanging attributes. As a result of these characteristics and historical function, the minorities have
limited opportunities of bringing social change or causing social re–organization. Thus, Marx debunks this conception by affirming identity is not
socially constructed.

1.1.3 Bargaining of Suppliers The equipment manufacturers can compete for the market share; that is the supplier power can be increased as their
sector consolidated through alliance. Goodstein, Nolan and Pfeiffer (1993) postulates that suppliers can impact the industry by raising or threatening to
raise prices or by reducing the quality and availability of goods. Such moves can impact profitability of the firms, especially when the firm cannot raises
its price to cover the costs incurred. 1.1.4 Competitive Rivalry Tough rivalry pressures companies to seek cost reduction via numerous sources. Due to
innovation, economies of scale and cost reduction, a strong wave of competition increases on some established manufacturers. Johnson, Scholes and

The organisational life cycle is the life cycle of an organisation from its creation to its termination. The four principal stages of the organisational life
cycle are
Birth
Growth
Decline
Death
Birth stage, in the birth stage an entrepreneur thinks about a business model, forms a management group to work with and then they form a business
plan. The entrepreneur's primary concern is securing funds for development and survival. At this stage, the organisation is a one man show with the
founder/entrepreneur bearing all responsibility for development and management.
Growth stage, when a business is in the growth stage it's moving in the right direction for now and is hungry for success.

The Importance Of Objectivity In Art
As Gombrich describes, objectivity is the ability to represent something exactly as it is seen in nature without any influence. According to Gombrich,
the objectivity of the representation in a work of art does not define how correct or real the art is. On the contrary, realism is defined by the
information conveyed from the art. If the information is correct, the work is realistic. Gombrich believes this because there are multiple limits to
representing objectively. One of the most prominent limits is style because as much as any artist would like to recreate nature objectively, style
overrules. Every artist has a unique temperament which is represented in their work, making it a limit to representing an object objectively. Furthermore,
the style itself is a limit to objectivity as well. Style includes but is not limited to the method of recreation or technique. The choice of technique
restricts the artist freedom of choice as the artist can only render what his technique is capable of rendering. Not only is the limit to objectivity seen
in the work of art itself, but it is also present in viewing nature itself with the eyes. The artist will see certain aspects of nature that others will not see
based on his technique. For example, an artist drawing a scene will focus on the scene in terms of lines. Another limit to objectivity is the preference
of an artist. An artist will only paint what he likes, which is what he can paint.
Answer 2:
I agree with all of Gombrich's

Differences, Or The Rudiments Of Non Identity
differences, or the rudiments of non–identity (Strawson 36). Identity is not a special type of relationship of the substantial essence, and knowledge is,
in the Locke 's point of view, knowledge about the type of relationship and the essence, since we are talking about identity, forms, mechanisms of its
maintenance. However, the specificity of the "identity" categories as forms of knowledge is not absolute; it has almost all the features which are
inherent to other forms of knowledge such as concepts, the fact of a scientific theory, a scientific picture of the objective world, etc. Locke believes
that "when therefore we demand whether anything be the SAME or no, it refers always to something that existed such a time in such a place, which
it was certain, at that instant, was the same with itself, and no other" (Locke 2). As it is seen, the identity in the philosophy for a long time was not
problematize as a separate issue, and appeared as a fundamental characteristic of being. Or rather, identity appeared as a prerequisite for understanding
the holistic unity of the world, as well as a guide in the quest for knowledge of the Absolute Idea, God, universal structures, and their identity. Locke
strongly believed that identity is to be connected with consciousness of a person, or a man. Thus, it is important to analyze the following passage from
the Locke 's book,
"For it is by the consciousness it has of its present thoughts and actions, that it is SELF TO ITSELF now, and so

Role and Function of Personnel Departments and Ways to...
Evaluation of the role and function of personnel departments within organizations and discussion of ways to improve their strategic value to the
organization.
Role of HR Departments
The HR model of the four HRM perspectives devised by Ulrich helps clarify the role of Personnel Departments (University of Sunderland 2004, p. 75).
Strategic Partner
As Strategic Partner the HR Department creates an appropriate organisational architecture with the target of achieving a match between factors such as
culture and work processes and the organisation's strategic goals. The focus is on results orientation and performance enhancement (University of
Sunderland 2004, pp. 75, 78).
Administrative Expert
The role of Administrative Expert comprises ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
change agent). It is vital for corporate success that all four roles are considered as equally important.
Problems, however, might not only arise because of operational and strategic processes. The department also has to manage to align processes and
people because both factors equally contribute to the success of the HR Department and the organisation.
Another critical point is that the HR role and activities are very comprehensive and complex, maybe too comprehensive for one department, as it might
be possible to lose control over all the different processes.
HR Functions and Evaluation
HR policy formulation
The Personnel Department formulates strategic HR policy, bearing in mind the overall organisational context (University of Sunderland 2004, p. 84).
If properly devised, HR policy formulation can make an essential contribution to corporate success. However, it has to be considered that if the
department devises a wrong strategy it could slow down corporate development and thus future corporate success.
Planning
This activity comprises HR planning, recruitment and workforce planning and work organisation (University of Sunderland 2004, p. 84).
A problem area is that future development and corporate needs might be difficult to estimate. This means that planning could be totally wrong and
objectives could not be achieved, which would also result in high costs.
Training and development
This comprises various tools such as induction, management

In early 2012, more than 24 million customers' personal information, including email, billing and shipping addresses, have been accessed illegally by hackers. However, Zappos announced "critical credit card and payment information was not affected and distributed an apology letter to all customers for the breach, along with instructions on how to reset their passwords to ensure security was up to standard, to regain trust from customers. With average customer service representatives' salary of $23,000, this is 3% below the national average salary. Nothing wrong with that per se, if not for using problematic criteria, such as race, skin color, gender, sexual orientation, class, religion, or ethnicity, in an often negative and derogatory way. As soon as individuals or groups are considering themselves superior, they inherently impose inferiority upon others, and discrimination and bigotry is born. Equality is still far from being common practice. A large part of the problem is ignorance; ignorance about other cultures, religions, gender range, ethnicity and many other characteristics. In her book Borderlands: La Frontera, Gloria AnzaldГєa describes how she has hopes for a new humanity, not inhibited by race or gender or any other social, political or ethical label; a hybrid form, an epitome of all possible confluences: a cosmic race, with a rich gene pool and a new consciousness (100–102). She believes this can be realized by uprooting all dualistic thinking and teaching tolerance and openness from a very young age: 'nothing is thrust out, the good, the bad and the ugly, nothing rejected, nothing abandoned' (AnzaldГєa 101) . AnzaldГєa's concept of a new consciousness, though beautiful and achievable, will need time and willingness to cooperate. And within that framework people should accept the fact that they can, themselves, be part of the problem and make an effort to help solve it. • 7. Can the Subaltern Speak Summary Can the Subaltern Speak? – Summary Gayatri Spivak Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak is an unsettling voice in literary theory and especially, postcolonial studies. She has describes herself as a "practical deconstructionist feminist Marxist" and as a "gadfly". She uses deconstruction to examine "how truth is constructed" and to deploy the assertions of one intellectual and political position (such as Marxism) to "interrupt" or "bring into crisis" another (feminism, for example). In her work, she combines passionate denunciations of the harm done to women, non–Europeans, and the poor by the privileged West with a persistent questioning of the grounds on which radical critique takes its stand. Her continual interrogation of assumptions can make... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As poststructuralism would have it, human consciousness is constructed discursively. Our subjectivity is constructed by the shifting discourses of power which endlessly speak through us, situating us here and there in particular positions and relations. In these terms we are not the authors of ourselves. We do not construct our identities, we have it written for us; the subject cannot be sovereign over the construction of selfhood. Instead the subject is decentered, in that its consciousness is always being constructed from positions outside of itself. It follows then that the individual is not a transparent representation of the self but an effect of discourse. Spivak argues that surprisingly for these figures, when Foucault and Deleuze talks about oppressed groups such as the working classes they fall back into precisely these uncritical notions of 'sovereign subjects' by restoring to them a fully centred consciousness. In addition they also assume that the writing of intellectuals such as themselves can serve as a transparent medium through which the voices of the oppressed can be represented. The intellectual is cast as a reliable mediator for the voices of the oppressed, a mothpiece through which the oppressed can clearly speak. Spivak articulates her reasons for her worries in the first part of the essay, applying MICHEL FOUCAULT's understanding of "epistemic violence" to the "remotely orchestrated, far–flung, and heterogeneous project to ... • 8. Under Western Eyes : Feminist Scholarship And Colonial... This critique reflects on Mohanty's "Under Western Eyes: Feminist Scholarship and Colonial Discourses" and Moore's "The Rise and Rise of Ecofeminism as a Development Fable: A Response to Melissa Leach's 'Earth Mothers and Other Ecofeminist Fables: How a Strategic Notion Rose and Fell." Both articles raise questions of essentialism as a necessary element in feminism itself, and of naivety, validity and value of essentialized feminist works. This firstly challenges the biological and social definition of 'woman,' the homogenization of 'woman', and further, the implication of the role of women in nature. The second challenge that arises in reviewing these articles is the question of audience: whom are these (eco)feminists targeting, and for what purpose? The challenges of (eco)feminism, essentialist feminism, and the application of feminism in gender, development and environmental studies are apparent in both of the articles I am reviewing. In Moore's article, there is a notion that there is a place for 'strategic essentialization' to mobilize resources; an altruistic, advocacy role in mobilizing issues that are integral to feminist, cultural or political issues. Moving beyond advocacy in and empirical analysis of (eco)feminism, it is clear that these two articles fail to address post–structuralist ideals in which action and self–sufficiency should be mobilized. As stated by Benton and Craib in chapter 10," it is the movement from the rigorous elaboration of structures to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 2009, 50% of their total annual production was in their in–house factories in Japan, with 60% of this production destined for export to other regions (Datamonitor, 20111). There are some benefits of maintaining vertical integration in manufacturing. First and foremost, vertical integration will help with control and coordination throughout Sony‟s value chain. By owning production factories and operating its own logistics, it is readily able to respond to changes in consumer demand or market trends, with no reliance on external suppliers. That is, it has full control over its operations. Further, Sony has „trade secrets‟ which it wishes to protect from its rivals. In an industry which is shaped by technological advancement, keeping such trade secrets is therefore of great importance. Not adopting an inhouse manufacturing strategy will always bear the risk of these secrets being expropriated by others. Also, if Sony were to outsource, it may require its manufacturers to make transaction–specific investments (Grant, 2010). There is a need for trust and a strong relationship, as well as rigid contractual agreements, thus making the transaction costs potentially high. Therefore it can be seen that manufacturing in house could avoid a lot of complexity. However, keeping manufacturing vertically integrated poses several issues especially with a big part of their operations being based in Japan. Firstly, the average hourly wage rate in Japan is ... LIBERTY UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF EDUCATION Content and Character: An Essential and Perennial View of Education A PAPER SUBMITTED TO DR. THOMAS MARSHALL IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COURSE EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY FOR TEACHERS EDUC 305 (B03) BY Heather Clarke L2674650 8 June 2015 ABSTRACT: TBD INTRODUCTION After several years of study to become an educator, it is my belief that the main goal of education should be to produce responsible, functioning members of society. Our curriculums should give students practical knowledge that will not become obsolete in the next few years. Our students should be capable of using logic and reasoning to apply their education to real–world contexts. A strong grasp of basic content knowledge is what helps propel students toward success in every career field. My philosophy aligns most closely to that of essentialist and perennialist classrooms due to their beliefs on education, incorporation of technology in the classroom, variety of instructional methods, and consistent success (Braley, Layman, & White, 2003). The following discussion will help outline my essential and perennial inspired philosophy of education. WORLDVIEW AND PHILOSOPHY OF LIFE Humans are sinful by nature, and they must learn to be good. Adam and Eve brought sin upon humanity in the Garden of Eden, and now we must seek redemption through Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:22, ESV). As Christians, we must aim to do all things with the goal of

In order to create a positive classroom culture, teacher need to promote positive relationships between students and with students by taking an interest and have respect for each other. It is extremely important for teacher to get to know the students, their families, and their culture. When a student knows their teacher cares about them, then a relationship of trust will exist between a student and teacher. According to Sayeski and Brown (2011), "teachers who had positive relationships with their student had 31 % fewer discipline problems and rule violations over the course of the year than teachers who did not" (p. 12). In order to know more about them, I will send home a poster board where the students can fill it with any information they would like me and their classmates to know. This constructivist approach gives them the opportunity to be creative and choose what they want to share. The essentialist approach of sending home a questionnaire for the family to fill out will help collect information important to understanding the student. This is the only category where I consider myself an essentialist and constructivist due to how information will be gathered about my students, but this will allow me to build the framework for a positive learning environment for everyone. The essentialist approach evolves out of the biological model which views sexuality as a universal drive within the body that has remained constant over time (Bakehorn, 8/30 /206). Essentialism assesses all sexual practices throughout history and within different cultures using a universal set of criteria. This is emulated in the way that a tomato looks like a vegetable, and is eaten like a vegetable, but it's essential nature is that of a fruit and so that is what a tomato is categorized as. Family resemblance theory, however, operates on the idea that categories are graded, and that a concept can be a slightly worse or better example of that category compared to a set of prototypes or exemplars, which are the best representations of that category. For example, a rug could be categorized as furniture, but it is not as good a representation of that category as a table is. The main difference between the two theories is that essentialism views categorization as black and white whereas resemblance views everything on a graded structure. This paper details the functional differences between essentialist theory and resemblance theory, and examines how resemblance theory is a more accurate of categorization, as well as how natural categories such as fruits are measured more absolutely while artifact categories such as furniture are measured on a graded structure through the articles and experiments conducted by Charles Kalish (2002) and Zachary Estes (2003). I myself was brought up by the public school system. I was taught how to take a test, how to memorize vocabulary until the next set arrived, and how to play by the rules. Artifice is a clever trick to deceive others like what many politicians used going from the past until nowadays. Because the Americans love to have good reputation, most politicians that have the ability to do so as Chris Hedges's argues "the most essential skill...is atifice" proves to be true. To begin with, Hedges states that politicians nowadays do not need to have the abilities to make a country to be successful; however, they only need to have the ability to build a good reputation for the people even if it is a fake one like how Hedges states, "political leaders who use the tools of mass propaganda ...no longer need to be competent, sincere, or honest." Similar to the 2016 presidential election, Donald J. The issue of whether identity is socially constructed or an innate characteristic remains a contested one. For some, identity is a product of the society, interactions, influence, and practices while for others, it is biological or rather primordial. At the very basic, identity is an essential personal characteristics as it encompasses the membership to different groups, including religion, gender, and ethnicity, the traits people show and what others ascribe to them (Newman 126). Muslim African –Americans identify themselves as Muslims not because of their innate characteristics, but their religious affiliation with Islam. Individuals develop their sense of identity through socialization processes when they interact and learn different cultural practices and norms (Ochs 291). Sociological theories confirm that identity is indeed a social construct and reject the view that it is innate. Social expectations and circumstance create our identity. Anthony Marx speaks about the trap of essentialism. The concept considers an entity as comprising of attributes that are critical for one 's function and identity. In this view, all things are considered to have a form or an essence and that these elements make up the "thing" without which it would not exist. Essentialism affirms that individuals pose fixed traits and that variations among the societal group members are secondary. In ethnicity, essentialism asserts that minority groups have unchanging attributes. As a result of these characteristics and historical function, the minorities have limited opportunities of bringing social change or causing social re–organization. • 45. The Importance Of Objectivity In Art As Gombrich describes, objectivity is the ability to represent something exactly as it is seen in nature without any influence. According to Gombrich, the objectivity of the representation in a work of art does not define how correct or real the art is. On the contrary, realism is defined by the information conveyed from the art. If the information is correct, the work is realistic. Gombrich believes this because there are multiple limits to representing objectively. One of the most prominent limits is style because as much as any artist would like to recreate nature objectively, style overrules. Every artist has a unique temperament which is represented in their work, making it a limit to representing an object objectively. Furthermore, the style itself is a limit to objectivity as well. Style includes but is not limited to the method of recreation or technique. The choice of technique restricts the artist freedom of choice as the artist can only render what his technique is capable of rendering. Not only is the limit to objectivity seen in the work of art itself, but it is also present in viewing nature itself with the eyes. The artist will see certain aspects of nature that others will not see based on his technique. For example, an artist drawing a scene will focus on the scene in terms of lines. Another limit to objectivity is the preference of an artist. An artist will only paint what he likes, which is what he can paint. Answer 2: I agree with all of Gombrich's ... • 46. Differences, Or The Rudiments Of Non Identity differences, or the rudiments of non–identity (Strawson 36). Identity is not a special type of relationship of the substantial essence, and knowledge is, in the Locke 's point of view, knowledge about the type of relationship and the essence, since we are talking about identity, forms, mechanisms of its maintenance. However, the specificity of the "identity" categories as forms of knowledge is not absolute; it has almost all the features which are inherent to other forms of knowledge such as concepts, the fact of a scientific theory, a scientific picture of the objective world, etc. Locke believes that "when therefore we demand whether anything be the SAME or no, it refers always to something that existed such a time in such a place, which it was certain, at that instant, was the same with itself, and no other" (Locke 2). As it is seen, the identity in the philosophy for a long time was not problematize as a separate issue, and appeared as a fundamental characteristic of being. Or rather, identity appeared as a prerequisite for understanding the holistic unity of the world, as well as a guide in the quest for knowledge of the Absolute Idea, God, universal structures, and their identity. Locke strongly believed that identity is to be connected with consciousness of a person, or a man. Thus, it is important to analyze the following passage from the Locke 's book, "For it is by the consciousness it has of its present thoughts and actions, that it is SELF TO ITSELF now, and so ... Problems, however, might not only arise because of operational and strategic processes. The department also has to manage to align processes and people because both factors equally contribute to the success of the HR Department and the organisation. Another critical point is that the HR role and activities are very comprehensive and complex, maybe too comprehensive for one department, as it might be possible to lose control over all the different processes. HR Functions and Evaluation HR policy formulation The Personnel Department formulates strategic HR policy, bearing in mind the overall organisational context (University of Sunderland 2004, p. 84). If properly devised, HR policy formulation can make an essential contribution to corporate success. However, it has to be considered that if the department devises a wrong strategy it could slow down corporate development and thus future corporate success.
