Information
 National Water Safety Programme
 Consists of 6 progressive stages
 Each stage comprises 12 hours of lesson time
 To teach swimming proficiency and water
survival skills in a fun manner
 Part of the PHE syllabus
 Instructor to pupil ratio is 1:10
Stage 1: Introduction to water skills 
•The objective is to develop confidence and independence in the 
water, learn general and deep-end water safety. Techniques taught 
include the forward and backward movement, safe entry and exit 
and personal water safety. 
Stage 2: Fundamental water skills 
•General skill development including unassisted step entry into 
water, sculling, feet first surface dives, personal water safety 
skills as well as water safety in aquatic environments. Goal is to 
achieve 25 metres of continuous swimming. 
Stage 3: Personal and Stroke Development Skills 
•Principles of personal survival as well as basic rescue skills are 
taught. Skills include sculling, underwater skills and the use of 
personal flotation device. Goal is to achieve 50m of continuous 
swimming. 
Bronze (Bronze Pin): Personal Survival and Stroke Improvement Skills 
•Development of child’s stroke techniques is a focus here, along with 
coordinated breathing in deep water while swimming 100 metres. 
Principles of water craft safety will be introduced as well as continual 
work on rescue and personal survival skills. 
Silver (Silver Pin): Intermediate Personal Survival and Stroke Refinement 
Skills 
•Fundamentals of diving will be introduced. Development of rescue skills 
and personal survival knowledge will also continue at more advanced 
levels. Children will be required to demonstrate efficient stroke 
techniques to complete stage 5. 
Gold (Gold Pin): Advance Personal Survival and Swimming Skill 
Proficiency 
•Children will be required to perform strokes with greater ease, 
efficiency, power and smoothness over 400 metres. Rescue skills and 
water safety knowledge will focus on lifesaving readiness. Standing dive 
and personal safety skills will continue to be taught.

• Wear swim attire underneath PE attire and a pair of slippers  and report 
to school

• Transport is provided to ferry pupils from school to swimming complex 
and back 
• Absentees  must  submit  a  copy  of  medical  certificate  or  parent’s  letter 
with valid reason(s) to PE teacher 
• Pupils  must  have  their  breakfast  before  coming  to  school.  Upon  their 
return to school after their swimming lesson, the students will have their 
recess (10.00am to 10.30am) before resuming school lessons.

  1. We have a class behaviour Management Plan so as to ensure that all students and teachers can learn and teach in a safe environment.
  2. S- Study, T- Think, E- Execute, P- Prove Integrated Trail- interactive trail where students are exposed to mathematical problems in a real world setting Maths @ Recess activities to enthuse and excite students, to increase the interest for learning of Maths 2nd hand goods rock- incentive for good work attitude and performance in Maths
