Origin Of Pug Colors
Pugs originated in 400 B.C in China. In China at around 700 B.C these dogs were only bred and
owned by the emperors. It is believed that there was an ancient Chinese law that prevented anyone
other than an emperor to own the breed. A person could only own a pug if it were a gift from an
emperor, illegal ownership of a pug was punishable by death. The name "pug" came about when
some people found a similarity between the pug's facial expression to that of a marmoset monkey
called Pug in the 1700's. This breed is commonly seen in fawn or black color, but, the origin of the
black and silver pug colors is not known. It is suspected that the black color was considered a birth
defect, therefore many of those unfortunate pugs were put to death at

Pagodas
Pagodas are a well–known kind of architectural building that is located all throughout the country of
China. Pagodas have a rich history to China as well, and they have been built all throughout Chinese
history, as many look unique and different, due to their respective dynasties having major
differences in how they built them. While other countries also have pagodas, we will be focusing
only on China's. The first type of pagoda that is considered to be one of the earliest known is called
the close–eaved pagoda. A prime example of this pagoda is located at the Chongyusei Temple in
Dengfeng County in the Henan Province of China. The pagoda has twelve sides, built entirely out of
blue bricks, and stands at forty–one meters tall while containing fifteen close eaves. It was built in
523 A.D., and it has ten floors with octagon shaped rooms that are connected by wooden stairs. It
could be speculated that the pagoda was built in a special way, as it came before concrete was
dreamed of, and it is still standing after many years. The next type of Chinese pagoda is the
commonly seen tower pagoda, in which many visitors can climb up upon them for better views. In

Groups of these kinds are found in the Zhenjuesi Temple in Beijing, and they feature five smaller
pagodas built on higher solid squared bases known as diamond thrones. One is in the center and four

Ming Dynasty, a monk by the name of Bandida hauled from India to Beijing and presented to the
emperor of the time five golden Buddha statues along with a plan for a diamond throne. The final
result was based off Indian design, but had Chinese modifications, where the base became 1.78
meters high, and all five pagodas were six meters

Shang Dynasty Research Paper
The earliest recorded history of the great civilisation dates back to 5000 BC which thrived along the
shores of Huang He valley, North China. It is referred to as a continuous civilisation due to the
preserved and well documented texts of those times and the people's constant strife towards the
development of an administrative system and evolution of a singular ideographic script as well as a
continuous growth in art and culture which rivalled other contemporary world civilisations. The
great 2nd century BC historiographer Sima Qian in his scriptures quotes Shia dynasty as a period
when the system of inherited rulership was established during 4000 BC, the date not corroborated. A
number of archaeologists believe the dynasty was established during the 2000 BC based on the

Foxconn In China Case Study
China's success in consumer electronic manufacturing can be traced to the creation of special
economic zones in the early 1980s, intended to increase "foreign capital and boost exports as the
means to integrate regional and global economies" (Chan and Seldon 2013, 103). This capitalism
was a sharp departure from the previous Communist based economic policies that dominated the
country for decades (Ya and O 'Donnell 2017). The Shenzhen Special Economic Zone (one of four)
was established in May 1980 adjacent to the border with Hong Kong, which was experiencing its
own economic boom (Ngai and Chan 2012, Ya and O 'Donnell 2017). Manufacturing in the

Grain dependent Henan Providence, which has the largest population of any providence, is largely
excluded from the financial support provided to coastal areas of the country with large ports (French
2008). The Zhengzhou factory, however, is an outlier: a global symbol of foreign capitalism and
economic prosperity in a region of China otherwise extremely poor (Barboza 2016). Zhengzhou is
inseparably linked with the Chinese government; the Foxconn factory there provides a case study of
exclusive economic incentives provided by the government to the company. Based on documents
obtained by the New York Times, these benefits are unlike anything else in the world. For instance,
the Zhengzhou government spent $1 billion dollars on housing for "iPhone City's" six million
people, most of them Foxconn workers. The $600 million factory itself was largely financed by the
government, and taxes were eliminated for Foxconn for five years. To facilitate rapid exportation of
electronics, customs is located directly outside the factory's perimeter. An airport is nearby, in which
the Zhengzhou government will be pumping $10 billion into. To staff this 2.2–mile factory site, the
government assists in recruiting workers and providing formal training. Ultimately, state recruited
workers in state subsidized housing not only benefits

Four Unknowns Chapter Summaries
In 1279 the Mongols invaded China and overtook the ruling dynasty and from there the Mongols
started the Yuan Dynasty. It was the period in China's history that established many new types of
science, mathematics and astronomy, as the Mongols introduced new technology and inventions.
These developments played a major role during the Yuan Dynasty; they changed how the world
looked at astronomy, science and mathematics and evolved everyday life with inventions and art.
There are many documents, paintings and artefacts from this period nearly 800 years ago, like The
Jade Mirror of the Four Unknowns.
The landscape paintings, porcelain china, magnetic compasses and decimal numbers were all
inventions from the Yuan dynasty. I believe the most significant one is the magnetic compass, as it
revolutionised trade between countries and cities. The magnetic compass was invented when
Chinese people mining ores and melting copper and iron, chanced upon a natural magnetite that
attracted iron and pointed fixedly north. This phenomenon was referred to as a "South–pointer". The
spoon shaped compass was made of magnetic lodestone and the plate was of Bronze. The circular
centre represented Heaven and the square plate represented Earth. The spoon was the symbolic
representation of the Great Bear. The plate bore Chinese characters that denoted the eight ... Show

Shang Dynasty Research Paper
The Shang Dynasty in China was located in an incredibly fertile area bordered by the Himalaya
Mountains to the west, the Yellow and East China Seas to the east, and the Gobi Desert to the north.
Shang China is the fertile ground located between the Yellow and Yangtze rivers, centered around
the Yangtze. Without the continuous threats of attack from other tribes and dynasties, the Shang
Dynasty could concentrate more on improving their homes and themselves. The Shang people began
as a nomadic tribe, hunting and searching for their food everyday, and settled in the Henan province
where they adopted an agricultural lifestyle. Floods were common. Each year, the floods would
demolish the towns and homes, but the floods also brought fertile soil ... Show more content on

The mountains and seas protected the Shang people from outside intruders and competitors,
allowing them to focus more on the well–being of their community and less on the possibility of
invasions. Because the Shang people didn't have to concentrate on constant invasions, they were
able to transition from hunting and gathering their food to an agricultural lifestyle. Their safety in
one place was secure. They could invest their energy and resources into bettering the land upon
which they would surely be living on in the future. This allowed for urban development and cities.
The natural borders also isolated them from other cultures forcing them to be independent and to
develop their own ideas in response to their environment. The people of the Shang Dynasty made
tools of bronze used in daily rituals, created irrigation systems protecting their crops from the
continuous floods, and created intricate art because of the abundance of their ideas. The proximity of
the Shang civilization to the Yangtze and Yellow rivers and the natural borders that surround the area
contribute to the development of a complete civilization, associated with the civilization's luck near
natural resources. Therefore, civilizations like Mesopotamia and Shang China, which started as
nomadic communities, were able to progress to a civilization because of the combination of their

A Smiling Buddhist Monk
The historical work I have chosen is called 'A smiling Buddhist Monk', more commonly known as
'Laughing Buddha'. The sculpture is from the Henan province, located in northern China, made in
the Ming dynasty, dated AD 1486. The artist of this work is unknown as it is from this era but the
sculptor may have been a Buddhist monk. Manually constructed and carved from Stoneware, this
Buddha is glazed in the sancai palette, meaning created from a colour scheme based of three
colours. The modern work I have chosen is called 'Our Gods', created by Liu Xiaoxian in 2000, a
Chinese Australian born in 1963. His work is an altered and edited photograph compiling of two
pieces; Buddha created from 22,500 miniscule figures of Christ, and Christ created from 22,500
figures of Buddha. The contemporary work, 'Our Gods' is based off the historical work 'Laughing
Buddha', as it incorporates the image of the Buddha into its work, symbolising the happiness and

Ancient China
The Ancient Chinese are responsible for many inventions and contributions to the world. Some of
their inventions and contributions include paper making, moveable type printing, gunpowder,
compass, alcohol, mechanical clock, tea production, silk, practical umbrella, acupuncture, iron and
steel smelting, porcelain, earthquake detector, rocket, bronze, the kite, the seed drill, row crop
farming, toothbrush and paper money. We will take a look at 10 of these contributions and then
choose the four that I believe are the most important. I will then choose one of the Ancient Chinese
contributions that I cannot live without. The most prominent inventions are: * Gunpowder: The

Gunpowder has changed the world, it is the basis for almost every weapon used in war from the
time it was invented, it has made warfare very different and affected the way battles were and are
fought, it is used as an explosive and has aided in the development of the modern world by making
it easier to move mountains for development. The compass has spurred travel all around the world
by allowing vessels to sail the sea and plains to fly across oceans, I question if we would have the
global trade we have today if the compass was never invented. Row planting was a better way to
plant, grow and harvest crops and has allowed mankind to farm more efficiently. Iron and steel
smelting has allowed man to build bridges and structures that allow for easier travel and commerce.
All four of these contributions have influenced the world we live in today and will continue to
influence the future of our planet. As for me, the one invention I can't live without is the mechanical
clock. I have a strong need to know the time and be on time when I am traveling or have to be
somewhere. I can't stand to be late so if the mechanical clock had never been invented we would
have watches or time clocks today and this could not only put my life in turmoil, it could alter the
entire world as we know it because in some way we all depend on time. References Gill, N.S. 2013.

Advantages Of Chinese Traditional Culture
2.1. Chinese Traditional Culture
As for the Chinese traditional culture, it derived from the ancient China. China is a country enjoying
over 5,000 years of history, which cultivated colourful culture of its population. "Chinese
Traditional culture" means, in general, the culture that prevailed in China from the pre–Qin Shi
Huang (221 B.C.) days until the Opium War (1840).
Regarding the causes of the Chinese traditional culture, the prevalent perception is that they had
derived from a social system that can be traced back from the primitive clan society and went
through the slave and feudal society of China . The features of the socio–environment in which grew

Zhongyuan Han nationality culture is constituted with Confucianism at its core, mixed first with
Taoism and later with Buddhism .
Confucianism provides guidance on the ethical principles of social and political life, while Taoism

historically co–existed in traditional Chinese culture and have been described as "the one body of
three doctrines" (sanjiao yiti) or "the three converged doctrines" (sanjiao heliu).
2.1.1.2. Lingnan Culture
Lingnan culture refers to the geographic culture originated from Lingnan areas, which covers the
nowadays Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan and Northern part of Vietnam. It consists of three culture
branches, Teochew Culture, Cantonese culture and Hakka culture. The study site city Guangzhou,
along the Pearl River, is the central of Cantonese culture. For one thing, considering its appropriate
geographic location (the Pear River Delta) and humidity subtropical climate, rice was cultivated as
the main staple food with long history, and the rice was so important to Guangzhou people, they
named their City 'hui' (Rice–ear) City. In the imperial era, inspired by the Han's clan system,
similarly small peasant farming and autarkic economy was led by clan–based kinships organization,
Guo called it "Clan–based collectivism" in Guangzhou. The Clan Zhanglaohui (clan elder authority)
assigned foods and services to clan members, in this way kinship distribution system was
established. Meanwhile, given to its topological situations, typical architecture buildings such as

Analysis Of China 's ' China Road '
Reading "China Road" opened my eyes to many of the issues China faces as it attempts to become a
world power. Despite being slightly outdated, this book provided good insight into what China is
like in the eyes of an outsider. In addition to providing insight, this book also helped me become
more aware of some of the cultural norms of China. What I was most surprised about was how
different life in China is depending on where one lives. The difference in quality of life was so
dramatic when comparing the cities of China to the rural farming areas. I also was amazed by how
different the Chinese act in terms of their attitudes. In particular, while reading I came to a part in
the story where the author spoke about a bus ride. On this bus ride, a watermelon fell off of a
luggage rack and landed on a child's head. In America, this would have been a big deal. Most likely
an ambulance would have been called, a lawsuit would have been filed, and some sort of bus reform
policy would be put into place. In China, nothing happened after this event. People on the bus made
sure the child was okay but, after that, they returned to their normal business. Nobody made a big
deal out of it, and nobody saw it as an opportunity to sue and make money. America is such a
litigious country. In China, it seemed as if they had more forgiving personalities. They were less
caught up in personal gain, and more focused on the important things in life. Another detail that
surprised me about China was the

quipped Xinhua, the national news agency, on its official Weibo page.

The Shaolin Monastery in the Henan province is one of the most famous Buddhist temples in the
world. It was established during the late fifth century when Buddhism traveled to China and is

The Emperor of the Northern Wei dynasty, Xiaowen, had the temple built to house the Indian master

Shang Civilization Research Paper
The long period of the Bronze Age in China, which began around 2000 B.C., saw the growth and
maturity of a civilization that would be sustained in its essential aspects for another 2,000 years. In
the early stages of this development, the process of urbanization went hand in hand with the
establishment of a social order. In China, as in other societies, the mechanism that generated social
cohesion, and at a later stage statecraft, was ritualization. As most of the paraphernalia for early
rituals were made in bronze and as rituals carried such an important social function, it is perhaps

that local companies are now threatening multinationals' plans to conquer the China market. They

Our research over the past five years into the battles between multinationals and local Chinese
companies reveals that while market dominance by local champions is far from universal, it's
becoming ever more frequent. In industries as different as beer brewing, mobile–phone
manufacturing and laundry–detergent production, Chinese companies – often seeming to appear
from nowhere – are forcing multinationals to rethink their strategies and their hopes for explosive
growth in the China market.

The message is clear: Multinationals must factor in the existence of robust local competition,
while considering the new opportunities that have opened up as a result of China's WTO
membership. To understand the way competition between multinationals and local champions is
evolving and to pinpoint the keys to success, we traced the evolution of competition in China in 10
industries over the last 10 years.2 We conducted more than 100 interviews with dozens of leading
companies operating in China, both multinationals and locals, and reviewed thousands of pages of
secondary data. The picture of competition that emerged from our research can best be described not
in terms of traditional market positioning, but as a battle of competencies between multinationals
and local players.
Constraints on Multinationals Multinationals generally start off with clear advantages in two areas:

Essay on Origin of the Chinese Triads
Although in modern times, the Triads are mostly associated with criminal activity, they originated as
mutual support organizations for people at the bottom of the social hierarchy and to defend the
common people from those of positions in power "to offer unacquainted people the kind of
protection and mutual aid normally afforded by family members" (Murray 178). How they
began has been agreed back and forth for many years and lots of theories have come up. However it
is generally accepted that the Triads were established during the fall of the Ching dynasty, even
thought there are some that argue that the Triads date as back as the Han dynasty. It is also accepted
that it was the Chinese who developed the Triads to rebel against ... Show more content on

Many of the men that established the Triads were once soldiers for the Imperial Army of the Ming
Dynasty, but when the Ming surrendered to the Manchurian invaders, the survivors of the wars
¡§formed small pockets of armed resistance¡¨ (Liu 21). However they were forced to go
underground because the newly established Ching rulers were really harsh and stated that those not
loyal to the Ching will be executed (Liu 22). On the other hand, after the Emperor to set ¡§300 of his
Imperial Guards¡¨ (Liu 23) on the monastery and were also ordered to kill the monks (Liu 23). The
monks that survived also had to go into hiding in order to found secret societies dedicated to
overthrowing the Ching dynasty (wReflexes).
The cause for the establishment of the Triads is different for each theory, one is out of personal gain
and the other is for the country. The underground rebellions founded by the monks were out of
revenge. They were rebelling against the Ching for the death of their brothers and for the burning of
the monastery. Their motives were very personal, whereas according to the first theory, the people
established the secret societies for the good of China, thinking that the Ching rulers, being foreign,
should not rule China and thus set up the rebellions and upheaval as to drive the foreign power out.
The two theories were all aiming to vanquish a common enemy but their cause for

The Era Of The Oldest Recorded Dynasty Essay
A history rich country, China stands as one of the most ancient civilizations that modern humanity
knows of. The oldest recorded dynasty was the Xia which was at its peak around 1800BCE. Dynasty
after dynasty came next, over twenty different dynasties have risen and fallen in Chinese history.
The last being the Qing Dynasty which ended in 1911 and ultimately led to the rise of the People's
Republic of China which was founded in 1949 as a Communist Party. This gave rise to their
economy which is to this day getting stronger and stronger. Through the parties many reforms and

China's One Child Policy Dbq Essay
Three Reasons Why China's One Child Policy was a Great Idea.
China's One Child Policy was founded in 1949, this policy was founded upon the idea that China's
population was growing at an exponential rate (Doc B). China had one of the largest growing
populations at over 150 million every year and with a population density of over 104 people/sq. km
in rural areas and in cities up to 22,350/sq. km (Pop. Den.). China's One Child Policy focuses on
lowering the fertility rate of women and in turn lowers the population and population density, this is
done by limiting most of the Chinese society to only having one child. China's One Child Policy
was a good idea because it focused on academic achievement, lessened the load on the environment
and lowers fertility rates in women which then in turn lowers the already crowded Chinese
population. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

If the parents broke these laws and regulations, they could be fined, have child abortion, get
sterilized, or have the second, third, or fourth child not receive benefits, such as a retirement, a
social security number, or an equal education. There were some exceptions such as daughters that
are an only child that live in uncrowded urban areas.
Finally, The One Child Policy was a good idea because it pushed academic success, lessens the load
on the environment, and lowers fertility rates which then lowers the population density of already
crowded China. Although China's One Child Policy was a great idea and has helped China

The Rise and Fall of Dynasties in China
The rise and fall of dynasties in china
Introduction
Rhoads Murphey describes the history of China history is on the succession of dynasties that ruled it
over a period of time until around 1912 when Republic of china was formed before rising to the
current People's Republic of China was formed in 1949. In China, a dynasty was made up of Kings
or emperors that came from the same family. They ruled in succession where a king could be
inherited by his son or his immediate relatives. Although china's history is majorly regarded on the
basis of dynastic ruling, other small kingdoms were established that ruled different part of china. For
example, in 200AD, the fall of great Han dynasty triggered formation of smaller kingdoms all over
the china which were later united by a short lived Sui Dynasty that reigned between 580 and 618
AD.
In Murphey's book varied dynasties have been described how they came to power and how they
eventually collapsed. From his book, various reasons for dynastic rise in china can be summarized
as follows; most dynasties were founded through force and especially when there was disorder in a
given dynasty. This could even break into a fight and those who won could take up and rule for a
period of time waiting to be overthrown by other powerful people. Dynasty could also rise as a
result of leaders who were very powerful and vigourous. These leaders could create their own stable
and prosperous kingdom that secured it territories and people.

The Great Migration Of Chinese Immigrants In The 19th Century
Similar to all the other countries in the 19th century, early Chinese immigrants were "pushed" by
forces in China and "pulled" by attractions in the United States. These pushes mainly came from
natural disasters, internal rebellious, and imperialistic aggressions in China. The pulls came from the
discovery of gold in California and different kinds of opportunities in the United States. The push
and pull factors resulted in the great migration of Chinese to the United States.
In the early 1800s, China faced lots of natural disasters. The major ones were happened in Henan
Province in 1847, the flooding of the Yangtze River in the four provinces of Hubei, Anhui, Jiangsu,
and Zhejiang. Then two years later, a famine struck Guangxi. As a result,

How Did China Change After The Tang Dynasty
The China completely changed compared it to before and after the Tang and Song dynasty. In terms
of economy, population and social class, these changes are very important. The transformation didn't
happen overnight but happened in a slow process across two dynasties.
We can separate Tang Period into five–part. Tang (618–690), Later Zhou of Empress Wu (690–705),
Tang restored (705–755), An Lushan Rebellion (755–863) and Late Tang period (763–907). A lot of
people think the glory of China's Tang Dynasty is a cliché. Why is that? Compared with the political
divisions and military unrest in those four centuries, the ruling Li family and loyal officials, at least
for the elite, have created an extraordinary period of stability and prosperity. There are many ways
to tell whether the dynasty was successful or not. The expansion of power in the provinces allowed
the courts in the Tang dynasty to levy sufficient tax revenues with generous cultural support and
material expansion. The patronage of religion, the prosperity of the dynasty has made the Tang
Dynasty a word known brilliant dynasty and created an unexpected prosperity of the Tang Dynasty's
culture.
We have to mention the existence of the man Quan Yude if we want to discuss more Tang dynasty.
Before that, it's also necessary to bring up the discussion of the social structure during that time. In
the first two centuries, the social structure in the Tang dynasty preserved the nobility camp from the
pre–Tang dynasty. Under the

Tungsten Essay
In 1781, Carl Wilhelm Scheele discovered Tungsten, which is also known as Wolfram. The word
Tungsten is used in the United States, but Wolfram is still used in some European countries.
Tungsten comes from the Swedish language which means "heavy stone". Tungsten is a very strong,
shiny, gray–white metal that makes up just a tiny fraction of the earth's crust and is always combined
with other elements as compounds. Every tungsten atom has 74 positively charged protons in the
nucleus which means it also has 74 negatively charged electrons revolving around the nucleus.

element which meant, they were put under pressure by both sides because of ... Show more content

However it combines with other elements to form compounds in minerals. An interesting fact is that
wolframite and scheelite are the only two important sources of the metal. Wolframite contains
varying amounts of iron tungstate and manganese tungstate. Another important tungsten mineral is
scheelite, which varies in color from white to green. The leading producers of tungsten are China,
with 37,000 tons, Russia, with 3,600 tons and Austria, with 1,700 tons. Another interesting fact is
that more than half of the world's supply of tungsten comes from mines in the Nah Ling Mountains
of Jianxi, Henan and Quangdong provinces of China. The method to extract tungsten ore is
generally a compromise between safety and cost. One way to mine it is using the room–and–pillar
method, which is cutting "rooms" in tungsten, and leaving a series of columns called "pillars".
However other mines use the bulk mining method of "slashing out the ore". This involves drilling
into the face of the tungsten deposit to carve out large chunks of the ore. Around 30% of tungsten
comes from scrap and waste metal. Tungsten its self is not a major pollutant, but scrap and waste
tungsten may contain other metals that are harmful to the environment. In addition, recycling is a lot
cheaper than disposing of the waste

The Shang Dynasty: Second Administration Of China
Shang Dynasty
The Shang Dynasty (c.1600–1046 BCE) was the second administration of China which flourish the
Xia Dynasty (c. 2700–1600 BCE) after the oust of the Xia tyrant Jie by the Shang pioneer, Tang.
Since so many history specialists ask the question that Xia Dynasty truly existed, the Shang Dynasty
may have really been the first in china and the source of what must be perceived as Chinese Culture.
The dependability of the nation while the Shang Dynasty cause to so many social advances, for
example, the calendar, religious customs, and composing. The primary lord, Tang, immediately
started to work for the general population of his nation rather than for his own joy and gave a good
example to his successors. These men made a stable government which would proceed for a long
time however in the end, as indicated by the records of the Chinese students of history, they lost the
order of paradise which enabled them to run the show. (Mark and Mark, 2017)
The Shang China was originally focused in the North China Plain and connected as far north as
present Shandong and Hebei domains and westward through present–day Henan area. The leaders of

Fareed Zakaria Argument Against Gun Control
Gun control has been always been an issue and constant topic discussed in many government law
debates. Should we be allowed to have guns or should we leave guns for official use such as the U.S
military and Secret Service? In Fareed Zakaria's article "The solution to gun violence is clear",
Zakaria proclaims that the solution to homicidal shootings such as Newtown and Connecticut can be
solved with one simple step. That step is to firmly regulate guns in the United States. Zakaria states
that the president focuses on many issues that do not reach the core of the problem, which would be
"from mental health issues to school safety" (Zakaria). Throughout the article, Zakaria argues that
cultural differences does not affect the rate of gun homicides ... Show more content on

One of those many statistics would be the number of casualties created by firearms in the United
States. According to Zakaria, "the number of deaths by firearms in the United States was 32,000 last
year [which was around 2011]. Around 11,000 were gun homicides." The number of deaths is just
tragic. To think that many of the citizens in the United States go around shooting other citizens is
definitely stomach churning. The fact that this statistic is so painstakingly true is one of the reasons
why it is so effective. Zakaria goes on to compare the United States to different countries such as
Australia and England. In England and Wales, there are only 50 gun homicides a year. According to
Zakaria, that is only "3 percent of our rate per 100,000 people". Zakaria uses the data from the U.N.
Office on Drugs and Crime to continue to compare the United States to other countries. The
homicidal rate in the U.S outgrows that of other neighboring countries by 12 percent. Australia had
all their automatic guns and semi–automatic guns banned for residential use in 1996. According to
Zakaria, the Australian gun ban was a "real ban, not like the one we enacted in 1994 with 600–plus
exceptions" (Zakaria). By blatantly pointing out the number of exceptions that the United States has
with their guns continues to support his argument about why restricted gun control is needed. So the
question really is: How can America expect for any results in homicide to happen if there is still a
big archway that citizens can use to generate more

1. The reasons for this worship of physical power in the Northern Dynasty 1.1 the geographic factor
With the differences in the landscape, the climate, and so on between the Northern and the Southern
Dynasties, the Northern Dynasty lived a rough life, which forced the people in the Northern Dynasty
to build up their figures. Take Tabgatch, the renowned family in the Northern Dynasty, as an
example. "In the Wei and Jin Dynasty, the 1st year of the Tianxing period, the Xianbei ethnic group

Origin Of Pug Colors

  • 1. Origin Of Pug Colors Pugs originated in 400 B.C in China. In China at around 700 B.C these dogs were only bred and owned by the emperors. It is believed that there was an ancient Chinese law that prevented anyone other than an emperor to own the breed. A person could only own a pug if it were a gift from an emperor, illegal ownership of a pug was punishable by death. The name "pug" came about when some people found a similarity between the pug's facial expression to that of a marmoset monkey called Pug in the 1700's. This breed is commonly seen in fawn or black color, but, the origin of the black and silver pug colors is not known. It is suspected that the black color was considered a birth defect, therefore many of those unfortunate pugs were put to death at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Pagodas In Ancient China Jake DeMonte 10/14/17 Chinese Art Pagodas Pagodas are a well–known kind of architectural building that is located all throughout the country of China. Pagodas have a rich history to China as well, and they have been built all throughout Chinese history, as many look unique and different, due to their respective dynasties having major differences in how they built them. While other countries also have pagodas, we will be focusing only on China's. The first type of pagoda that is considered to be one of the earliest known is called the close–eaved pagoda. A prime example of this pagoda is located at the Chongyusei Temple in Dengfeng County in the Henan Province of China. The pagoda has twelve sides, built entirely out of blue bricks, and stands at forty–one meters tall while containing fifteen close eaves. It was built in 523 A.D., and it has ten floors with octagon shaped rooms that are connected by wooden stairs. It could be speculated that the pagoda was built in a special way, as it came before concrete was dreamed of, and it is still standing after many years. The next type of Chinese pagoda is the commonly seen tower pagoda, in which many visitors can climb up upon them for better views. In Yingxian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Groups of these kinds are found in the Zhenjuesi Temple in Beijing, and they feature five smaller pagodas built on higher solid squared bases known as diamond thrones. One is in the center and four are in corners to dedicate the Buddhas, which according to history during the Yongle reign of the Ming Dynasty, a monk by the name of Bandida hauled from India to Beijing and presented to the emperor of the time five golden Buddha statues along with a plan for a diamond throne. The final result was based off Indian design, but had Chinese modifications, where the base became 1.78 meters high, and all five pagodas were six meters ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Shang Dynasty Research Paper The earliest recorded history of the great civilisation dates back to 5000 BC which thrived along the shores of Huang He valley, North China. It is referred to as a continuous civilisation due to the preserved and well documented texts of those times and the people's constant strife towards the development of an administrative system and evolution of a singular ideographic script as well as a continuous growth in art and culture which rivalled other contemporary world civilisations. The great 2nd century BC historiographer Sima Qian in his scriptures quotes Shia dynasty as a period when the system of inherited rulership was established during 4000 BC, the date not corroborated. A number of archaeologists believe the dynasty was established during the 2000 BC based on the unearthing of a bronze smelter from excavations at Henan. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the dynasty, advancements in agricultural methods and metallurgy are believed to have caught pace. Ancestral worship was common and so was the reverence to the main god Shang Ti. Chou dynasty, c1100 BC – c 256 BC, coexisted and later fought the Shang dynasty establishing Hao (Zongzhou) as its capital, later followed by Luoyang (Henan Province) as its administrative centre from 722 BC. Iron started being widely used along side bronze for the manufacturing of farming implements and weapons. The era was also known as the Hundred Schools of Thought as great philosophers such as Confucius, Mo–ti, Lao Tzu, Mencius, and Chuang–tzu lived and laid foundation for the schools of philosophies of Confucianism, Taoism and ... • 7. Foxconn In China Case Study China's success in consumer electronic manufacturing can be traced to the creation of special economic zones in the early 1980s, intended to increase "foreign capital and boost exports as the means to integrate regional and global economies" (Chan and Seldon 2013, 103). This capitalism was a sharp departure from the previous Communist based economic policies that dominated the country for decades (Ya and O 'Donnell 2017). The Shenzhen Special Economic Zone (one of four) was established in May 1980 adjacent to the border with Hong Kong, which was experiencing its own economic boom (Ngai and Chan 2012, Ya and O 'Donnell 2017). Manufacturing in the Shenzhen Economic Zone grew exponentially after the Chinese government began offering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Grain dependent Henan Providence, which has the largest population of any providence, is largely excluded from the financial support provided to coastal areas of the country with large ports (French 2008). The Zhengzhou factory, however, is an outlier: a global symbol of foreign capitalism and economic prosperity in a region of China otherwise extremely poor (Barboza 2016). Zhengzhou is inseparably linked with the Chinese government; the Foxconn factory there provides a case study of exclusive economic incentives provided by the government to the company. Based on documents obtained by the New York Times, these benefits are unlike anything else in the world. For instance, the Zhengzhou government spent $1 billion dollars on housing for "iPhone City's" six million people, most of them Foxconn workers. The $600 million factory itself was largely financed by the government, and taxes were eliminated for Foxconn for five years. To facilitate rapid exportation of electronics, customs is located directly outside the factory's perimeter. An airport is nearby, in which the Zhengzhou government will be pumping $10 billion into. To staff this 2.2–mile factory site, the government assists in recruiting workers and providing formal training. Ultimately, state recruited workers in state subsidized housing not only benefits ... • 9. Four Unknowns Chapter Summaries In 1279 the Mongols invaded China and overtook the ruling dynasty and from there the Mongols started the Yuan Dynasty. It was the period in China's history that established many new types of science, mathematics and astronomy, as the Mongols introduced new technology and inventions. These developments played a major role during the Yuan Dynasty; they changed how the world looked at astronomy, science and mathematics and evolved everyday life with inventions and art. There are many documents, paintings and artefacts from this period nearly 800 years ago, like The Jade Mirror of the Four Unknowns. The landscape paintings, porcelain china, magnetic compasses and decimal numbers were all inventions from the Yuan dynasty. I believe the most significant one is the magnetic compass, as it revolutionised trade between countries and cities. The magnetic compass was invented when Chinese people mining ores and melting copper and iron, chanced upon a natural magnetite that attracted iron and pointed fixedly north. This phenomenon was referred to as a "South–pointer". The spoon shaped compass was made of magnetic lodestone and the plate was of Bronze. The circular centre represented Heaven and the square plate represented Earth. The spoon was the symbolic representation of the Great Bear. The plate bore Chinese characters that denoted the eight ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without the continuous threats of attack from other tribes and dynasties, the Shang Dynasty could concentrate more on improving their homes and themselves. Because the Shang people didn't have to concentrate on constant invasions, they were able to transition from hunting and gathering their food to an agricultural lifestyle. Their safety in one place was secure. They could invest their energy and resources into bettering the land upon which they would surely be living on in the future. This allowed for urban development and cities. The natural borders also isolated them from other cultures forcing them to be independent and to develop their own ideas in response to their environment. The people of the Shang Dynasty made tools of bronze used in daily rituals, created irrigation systems protecting their crops from the continuous floods, and created intricate art because of the abundance of their ideas. The sculpture is from the Henan province, located in northern China, made in the Ming dynasty, dated AD 1486. The artist of this work is unknown as it is from this era but the sculptor may have been a Buddhist monk. Manually constructed and carved from Stoneware, this Buddha is glazed in the sancai palette, meaning created from a colour scheme based of three colours. His work is an altered and edited photograph compiling of two pieces; Buddha created from 22,500 miniscule figures of Christ, and Christ created from 22,500 figures of Buddha. Some of their inventions and contributions include paper making, moveable type printing, gunpowder, compass, alcohol, mechanical clock, tea production, silk, practical umbrella, acupuncture, iron and steel smelting, porcelain, earthquake detector, rocket, bronze, the kite, the seed drill, row crop farming, toothbrush and paper money. We will take a look at 10 of these contributions and then choose the four that I believe are the most important. Gunpowder has changed the world, it is the basis for almost every weapon used in war from the time it was invented, it has made warfare very different and affected the way battles were and are fought, it is used as an explosive and has aided in the development of the modern world by making it easier to move mountains for development. The compass has spurred travel all around the world by allowing vessels to sail the sea and plains to fly across oceans, I question if we would have the global trade we have today if the compass was never invented. Row planting was a better way to plant, grow and harvest crops and has allowed mankind to farm more efficiently. Iron and steel smelting has allowed man to build bridges and structures that allow for easier travel and commerce. All four of these contributions have influenced the world we live in today and will continue to influence the future of our planet. As for me, the one invention I can't live without is the mechanical clock. I have a strong need to know the time and be on time when I am traveling or have to be somewhere. I can't stand to be late so if the mechanical clock had never been invented we would have watches or time clocks today and this could not only put my life in turmoil, it could alter the entire world as we know it because in some way we all depend on time. • 24. Analysis Of China 's ' China Road ' Reading "China Road" opened my eyes to many of the issues China faces as it attempts to become a world power. Despite being slightly outdated, this book provided good insight into what China is like in the eyes of an outsider. In addition to providing insight, this book also helped me become more aware of some of the cultural norms of China. What I was most surprised about was how different life in China is depending on where one lives. The difference in quality of life was so dramatic when comparing the cities of China to the rural farming areas. I also was amazed by how different the Chinese act in terms of their attitudes. In particular, while reading I came to a part in the story where the author spoke about a bus ride. On this bus ride, a watermelon fell off of a luggage rack and landed on a child's head. In America, this would have been a big deal. Most likely an ambulance would have been called, a lawsuit would have been filed, and some sort of bus reform policy would be put into place. In China, nothing happened after this event. People on the bus made sure the child was okay but, after that, they returned to their normal business. Nobody made a big deal out of it, and nobody saw it as an opportunity to sue and make money. America is such a litigious country. In China, it seemed as if they had more forgiving personalities. They were less caught up in personal gain, and more focused on the important things in life. Another detail that surprised me about China was the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was established during the late fifth century when Buddhism traveled to China and is situated on the slopes of Mount Song on the south bank of the Yellow River ( ). Shang Civilization Research Paper The long period of the Bronze Age in China, which began around 2000 B.C., saw the growth and maturity of a civilization that would be sustained in its essential aspects for another 2,000 years. In the early stages of this development, the process of urbanization went hand in hand with the establishment of a social order. In China, as in other societies, the mechanism that generated social cohesion, and at a later stage statecraft, was ritualization. As most of the paraphernalia for early rituals were made in bronze and as rituals carried such an important social function, it is perhaps possible to read into the forms and decorations of these objects some of the central concerns of the societies (at least the upper sectors of the societies) ... Our research over the past five years into the battles between multinationals and local Chinese companies reveals that while market dominance by local champions is far from universal, it's becoming ever more frequent. In industries as different as beer brewing, mobile–phone manufacturing and laundry–detergent production, Chinese companies – often seeming to appear from nowhere – are forcing multinationals to rethink their strategies and their hopes for explosive growth in the China market. 1 The message is clear: Multinationals must factor in the existence of robust local competition, while considering the new opportunities that have opened up as a result of China's WTO membership. To understand the way competition between multinationals and local champions is evolving and to pinpoint the keys to success, we traced the evolution of competition in China in 10 industries over the last 10 years.2 We conducted more than 100 interviews with dozens of leading companies operating in China, both multinationals and locals, and reviewed thousands of pages of secondary data. • 58. The Rise and Fall of Dynasties in China The rise and fall of dynasties in china Introduction Rhoads Murphey describes the history of China history is on the succession of dynasties that ruled it over a period of time until around 1912 when Republic of china was formed before rising to the current People's Republic of China was formed in 1949. In China, a dynasty was made up of Kings or emperors that came from the same family. They ruled in succession where a king could be inherited by his son or his immediate relatives. Although china's history is majorly regarded on the basis of dynastic ruling, other small kingdoms were established that ruled different part of china. For example, in 200AD, the fall of great Han dynasty triggered formation of smaller kingdoms all over the china which were later united by a short lived Sui Dynasty that reigned between 580 and 618 AD. In Murphey's book varied dynasties have been described how they came to power and how they eventually collapsed. From his book, various reasons for dynastic rise in china can be summarized as follows; most dynasties were founded through force and especially when there was disorder in a given dynasty. This could even break into a fight and those who won could take up and rule for a period of time waiting to be overthrown by other powerful people. Dynasty could also rise as a result of leaders who were very powerful and vigourous. These leaders could create their own stable and prosperous kingdom that secured it territories and people. ... We can separate Tang Period into five–part. Tang (618–690), Later Zhou of Empress Wu (690–705), Tang restored (705–755), An Lushan Rebellion (755–863) and Late Tang period (763–907). Compared with the political divisions and military unrest in those four centuries, the ruling Li family and loyal officials, at least for the elite, have created an extraordinary period of stability and prosperity. There are many ways to tell whether the dynasty was successful or not. The expansion of power in the provinces allowed the courts in the Tang dynasty to levy sufficient tax revenues with generous cultural support and material expansion. The patronage of religion, the prosperity of the dynasty has made the Tang Dynasty a word known brilliant dynasty and created an unexpected prosperity of the Tang Dynasty's culture. • 71. Tungsten Essay In 1781, Carl Wilhelm Scheele discovered Tungsten, which is also known as Wolfram. The word Tungsten is used in the United States, but Wolfram is still used in some European countries. Tungsten comes from the Swedish language which means "heavy stone". Tungsten is a very strong, shiny, gray–white metal that makes up just a tiny fraction of the earth's crust and is always combined with other elements as compounds. Every tungsten atom has 74 positively charged protons in the nucleus which means it also has 74 negatively charged electrons revolving around the nucleus. Tungsten played a big role in the background of World War II. Portugal was the main source of this element which meant, they were put under pressure by both sides because of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However it combines with other elements to form compounds in minerals. An interesting fact is that wolframite and scheelite are the only two important sources of the metal. Wolframite contains varying amounts of iron tungstate and manganese tungstate. Another important tungsten mineral is scheelite, which varies in color from white to green. The leading producers of tungsten are China, with 37,000 tons, Russia, with 3,600 tons and Austria, with 1,700 tons. Another interesting fact is that more than half of the world's supply of tungsten comes from mines in the Nah Ling Mountains of Jianxi, Henan and Quangdong provinces of China. The method to extract tungsten ore is generally a compromise between safety and cost. One way to mine it is using the room–and–pillar method, which is cutting "rooms" in tungsten, and leaving a series of columns called "pillars". However other mines use the bulk mining method of "slashing out the ore". This involves drilling into the face of the tungsten deposit to carve out large chunks of the ore. Around 30% of tungsten comes from scrap and waste metal. Tungsten its self is not a major pollutant, but scrap and waste tungsten may contain other metals that are harmful to the environment. In addition, recycling is a lot cheaper than disposing of the waste ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 77. Fareed Zakaria Argument Against Gun Control Gun control has been always been an issue and constant topic discussed in many government law debates. Should we be allowed to have guns or should we leave guns for official use such as the U.S military and Secret Service? In Fareed Zakaria's article "The solution to gun violence is clear", Zakaria proclaims that the solution to homicidal shootings such as Newtown and Connecticut can be solved with one simple step. That step is to firmly regulate guns in the United States. Zakaria states that the president focuses on many issues that do not reach the core of the problem, which would be "from mental health issues to school safety" (Zakaria). Throughout the article, Zakaria argues that cultural differences does not affect the rate of gun homicides ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of those many statistics would be the number of casualties created by firearms in the United States. According to Zakaria, "the number of deaths by firearms in the United States was 32,000 last year [which was around 2011]. Around 11,000 were gun homicides." The number of deaths is just tragic. To think that many of the citizens in the United States go around shooting other citizens is definitely stomach churning. The fact that this statistic is so painstakingly true is one of the reasons why it is so effective. Zakaria goes on to compare the United States to different countries such as Australia and England. In England and Wales, there are only 50 gun homicides a year. According to Zakaria, that is only "3 percent of our rate per 100,000 people". Zakaria uses the data from the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime to continue to compare the United States to other countries. The homicidal rate in the U.S outgrows that of other neighboring countries by 12 percent. Australia had all their automatic guns and semi–automatic guns banned for residential use in 1996. According to Zakaria, the Australian gun ban was a "real ban, not like the one we enacted in 1994 with 600–plus exceptions" (Zakaria). By blatantly pointing out the number of exceptions that the United States has with their guns continues to support his argument about why restricted gun control is needed. So the question really is: How can America expect for any results in homicide to happen if there is still a big archway that citizens can use to generate more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
