Thank you Elpi for your very comprehensive illustration about Waqf. Today we are all here because we have some very common goals. First of all we are here to increase the numbers of the quariah, or "Mosque Community). Having more quariahs, we are able to improve our services and renew the charitable purpose of the mosque, which is very important to any Muslim community. Our second mission is to improve the living standards and lifestyles of residents of the Mosque. They are the founders to the land and have been living here since 1820. Once a huge center of trade, the mosque has contributed much to the wealthiness of George Town and the country. Today the mosque remains a historical – cultural spot and is home to thousand villagers. Almost all houses, though beautiful are hundreds year old, the infrastructures and the surroundings also need improvement. There's alot to do however I see that everyone here again, are on the same track. Finally, we are here to revive Acheen street historical role and its economy. Same objectives, but 2 different approaching. We have here groups suggesting to demolish part of the mosque for new developments; and we also have another idea of to preserve the site, promoting traditional activities and new tourism related services. The question is, do we really have to demolish its historical bungalows or completely remodeling the shops – which can never be undone - or is there any other way? May we go in details some solutions for this in next slides.
