Following staggering performances in CY2012 and CY2013, Indian stock markets continued the positive momentum for third successive year and shot up at an astounding 30% during CY2014, the best in 5-years. It was a marvelous year for investors as benchmarks kept knocking down old records to create new ones. Sensex crossed the peak 28800 whereas Nifty surpassed the hitherto unseen 8600 levels during the year. Broader indices BSE 500 and CNX 500 have outperformed Sensex and Nifty by rising about 37% & 38% respectively. Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have invested about over Rs 97000 crore in Indian equities despite looming concerns about Fed tapering program which ended gradually in October.
