The document discusses the seven continents of the world: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and Antarctica. It provides 1-2 brief facts or details about each continent, such as common animals, languages spoken, countries, or geographical features. It also includes diagrams labeling each continent and a poem summarizing the seven continents.

Australia is down under,
Home of the KANGAROO!
Clap your hands for Asia!
It's the largest one.
Antarctica is covered in ice.
The PENGUINS sure have fun!
North America is where I live.
It's where I work and play.
In Europe you'll find England,
Where the queen rules every day.
South America is home to Brazil.
It's the largest country there.
The world has seven continents,
And I've just named them with care!

The Atlantic Ocean is the second- The Pacific Ocean (from the Latin
largest of the world's oceans. It name Mare Pacificum, "peaceful

total area of about 106.4 million oceans. It extends from the Arctic in
square kilometers (41.1 million the north to the Antarctic in the

It covers approximately one-fifth on

15. Arctic Ocean
The Arctic Ocean is located in the northern hemisphere and mostly in
the Arctic North Polar Region. It is the smallest of the world's five major
oceans and the shallowest. The Arctic Ocean is the northernmost ocean of
the all-encompassing World Ocean.
Almost completely surrounded by Eurasia and North America, the
Arctic Ocean is largely covered by sea ice throughout the year. The Arctic
Ocean's temperature and salinity vary seasonally as the ice cover melts and
freezes. Its salinity is the lowest on average of the four major oceans, due
to low evaporation, as well as limited outflow to surrounding waters with
heavy freshwater inflow. The summer shrinking of the icepack has been
quoted at 50%
The Arctic Ocean has an area of 14,090,000 sq km and an average
depth of 3,658 m off of the continental shelf. The Artic Ocean has the
widest continental shelf of all the oceans. The central part of the ocean is
permanently covered in about ten feet of ice.
16. Land and Water
• The Earth is mostly water
• ¾ of the Earth is covered in
water
• The big bodies of water on

• The big pieces of land on
Earth are called continents
