1. Firstly, I take this opportunity to congratulate you, Mr Joshua Irungu, the Governor elect – Laikipia
County and your able deputy Mr. Kabugi. I also extend my gratitude to the people of Laikipia having had
persevered long queues, hunger, thirst and some long journeys to deliver ourselves from partisan
leadership. It was a good show of how important we take our county to be, a battle well fought.
Mr. Irungu, the public expectations on your delivery is enormously high. The responsibility ahead is huge
too. The good thing about this, we had, we have and shall continue to have hope and trust in your ability
to serve and deliver. I call upon you, and your inner circle, to forge ahead and put on a spirited fight of
delivery of services and action-oriented leadership. You did put, exemplarily well, an issue-based
campaign, which made Laikipians of all ages and economic classes believe in your potential. Now it is
time to fulfill the promises.
The public has a good memory, and it judge guiltily from the word go. It is a caution. We are over
ambitious, and there is no way about this other than to deliver. I am aware that the county assembly has
to be supportive for you to deliver and by look of things you have the ability to facilitate this. Appoint a
team, driven by passionate mission to propel Laikipia forward, for if it fails, the people shall hold you
accountable. Personally, I do believe Laikipia has a good selection, and unless you don’t want to, you are
spoilt of choices in this.
Welcome your competitors on board. They are gentlemen who fought to the last bit of the race to clinch
the seat. Be a statesman. Be a “countyman”. Each of you had a manifesto, I urge you to constructively
merge them, for all had Laikipia progress in mind. Work for us, and not for a few. Forget the voting
trend, for all have acknowledged you having won. Take us all as having had voted for you.
For now, till I write again, roll over your sleeves for evaluation has just begun. I once again congratulate
you and your team for a job well done.
Honestly,
Gichure Paul
Laikipia
