JOB SUMMARY:
 Spare parts information editor within the Spare Parts Engineering and –information
Department
 The technical editor is responsible for creating parts information for the aftermarket.
 The parts information is mainly created by compiling information based upon the PDM
structure and with help of virtual tools, project descriptions and Design change notes.
 The Spare parts information editor is responsible for the creation of the information from
planning of how the information is to be presented and designed till the information is
sent to the dealer system.
 This can include creation and modification of technical illustrations, compiling
commercial packages and other technical information within the area of parts assortment.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities
 Focus on creating and planning high quality parts information.

2.  Focus on re-usage of information in order to get high efficiency in the process
 Focus on information management in order to give an easily readable and searchable
parts information.
 As a Spare Parts Information technical editor is to modify and create illustrations with
the usage of Virtual tools and illustration tools
 The main inputs will use for the process are virtual information and output from the
Spare parts engineering and design departments.
 Work on main tools like Virtual tools, PDM systems, Spare parts engineering system
and parts information production system.
 Also develop spare parts information that includes information and knowledge
management in order to create the highest possible quality for the customers.
 Associated with the deliverables of Illustrated Parts Catalogue (IPC), Volvo Group
 Product support analyst for aftermarket end user
 Ensure completeness of catalogue as per received Information Concern Report (ICR)
 Quality check on IPC by linking customer ordering system with PDM & client
database
 Tools - Product data management (Volvo,3D VIA, CorelDraw, Volvo Customized
tools
 Creation and revision of Illustrated Parts Catalogue (IPC) for Volvo Group Trucks
and Buses
 Support aftermarket parts in an E-Catalogue which includes Bill of Materials &
illustration
 Referring PDM and support the assemblies in catalogue as per design change note
(DCN)
ASSIGNMENTS
 Creation of Component Maintenance Manual - Authoring Maintenance, Repair,
Testing and Fault isolation procedures by understanding Acceptance Test Procedures
(ATP) and analysing blueprints to show breakdown of assembly parts.
 Volvo & Mack Trucks, EM-USA10 & EM-JPN10 - Worked on creation of E-
Catalogue for Volvo trucks that are being built with a new emission standard. The e-
catalogue is based on analysis of basic working concepts and list of the parts involved
& exploded view of the assembled product. This is shown to the end user with the
help of Corel draw.
 Volvo & Mack Trucks, Customer Adaptation & DCN (Design Change Note) - Support
customized spare parts in the e-catalogue as per customer’s request. Old spare parts
are scrapped and new parts are released through DCN's, which Includes addition and
deletion of spare parts along with required technical illustration using Corel draw.

3.  Revision of Illustrated Parts Catalogue (Volvo Group Trucks and Buses) - New
Assemblies/Parts were released due to design changes. Customized tools were used to
support these Assemblies/parts, wherein it benefits end user to place purchase order for
unique chassis.
