Notes de l'éditeur
These are tips for success during a Game Jam. These notes and tips are from the Global Game Jam, specifically the Pittsburgh site, run by the Pittsburgh IGDA chapter. Everything here should be generally applicable to most game jams.
You're not going to be making a game on the scale of Call of Duty...
First, come with as much of your toolset and pipeline figured out as possible.
The worst way to spend your jam is figuring out your tools and pipeline instead of building something.
Come in with a platform. Don't be afraid of using an engine or library. Your goal is to get to the game development, not build a sprite manager. We recommend systems like Unity, Flash, etc that give you tools to work with to import assets, handle events, set up basic UI, and move things around the screen. Also, as a general rule of thumb, 2D is going to be easier than 3D.
A big one first time jammers may not think about is source control- how is your team going to share & sync files, backup your project, and prevent file editing collisions? Some popular (free-ish) options are Dropbox, Google Drive, and Google Code. Other common systems which usually require you have access to a server are svn, perforce, & github.
